Boy there was a lot to catch up on!

Faye: Congratulations Grandma After all that waiting the baby decided it was his time and what a beautiful baby boy he is. He surely didn't resemble a newborn but at 10lbs he was more like a month old. My DD#1's 2nd boy was 10+ #'s and we got to see him when he was 6 weeks old and he was more like a 4 month old. He still is a big boy! When will you get to see him again?
Glad you had such a good time at T's party! Vacation in Vegas! I am jealous!
Love that place.

Susan: Glad to hear that hubby is doing better and is able to use the new port for his dialysis! Hope this is only the beginning of continuing good news!

Jean: Summer vacation is in full swing and I see you are using it to do a reorginization of your 'keepers'. That is what we did last spring and it feels good to look at empty spaces.

I have very short hair and it is so thick that I need to have it cut every 3 weeks. If I don't the humidity just makes it go wild and I look like a crazy woman. I find the grey hair has a mind of it's own and tries to just stick straight out......fun!

It is very hot and humid today and this the 3rd day of this kind of weather. Yesterday we visited my friend at the Cape and it was beautiful there....20 degs. cooler with a lovely breeze. We had a grand chat and Jack got a swim in the ocean. We were going to just sit on the beach til dusk but the radio was saying thunder storms were heading toward our house and I had all the windows open so we left earlier....then, of course, they didn't come. Maybe tonight.

The next two weeks will be rather busy as DS and family are coming here on the 13th for a week and all 4 kids are planning a 50th Anniversary party for us on the 14th. They have reserved a private room and our favorite restaurant and there will be about 25 people. DS keeps saying it will be a great time and he has hinted that he is planing to 'roast' us. Knowing our kids that can be scary!

On Wed. the 18th we will have everyone here for a bbq and we have reserved a bouncy castle for the younger kids. They will have a ball. I will make and freeze some casseroles over the next week or so and everyone will bring an item. I plan to make it as easy as possible. I want to enjoy, too!

I may not be on til after it's over but I will let you know how it goes.

Good morning everyone! It is a beautiful day already here today and I am out and about running errands today.

Gloria: It was good to read your posts and sounds like you are having an enjoyable summer. It is blazing hot here too and we don't have the ocean breeze to cool things off. We like our new grandson pretty darn well and I sure do miss him. I talked to his mom yesterday and he is doing fine fitting in, sleeping and eating well and such.

Susan: Glad they got Stan all cleared up again. I do feel so sorry for him everytime something else happens. I keep wondering if we won't have some water restrictions here soon because it is terribly dry here also. Just think of your semi retirement as a chance to become expert at sock making and do more quilts! Do you seel any of your quilting? I would think they would sell well as I know people seem to always want them at craft fairs and such.

Jean: You really crack me up about your "piles." Do you just hate to get rid of stuff because you think it will either come back in style or fit again or what? The stuff I got rid of I think of every once in awhile about how much such and such would look good, but since I don't want to have to wear the stuff again, I get over it pretty darn fast.

I have already picked up my dry cleaning, which is stuff for vacation I wore in Indiana so it is now already to pack for the trip down the road so that is good. I want to go out a little later and get my nails done and need to make the Walmart list to shop there tonight. I get water, puppy pads and jack's lunch stuff there and get diet drinks because the commissary doesn't carry the bottles in Pepsi products and I think diet drinks in cans taste funny. I should go and get my hair cut, but I am trying to gauge it so I go again right before vacation and get it cut. My darn hair grows so fast. I also need to make my commissary list, which will be extensive since I seem to have run out of everything.

I am about 20 rows from having the front of Tom's sweater done then I can start on the sleeves. I hope to have it finished and sewn up by next week then back to Thomas's sweater and matching hat for Christmas. I also need to start Kelly's sweater, but not until I get back from vacation and her booga bag, which I may start and take with me to Vegas to knit on the plane. We fly from here to Atlanta, which is an hour then from Atlanta to Vegas, which is 5 hours so that is a long time to be idle. I usually take a couple books, my knitting this time and we have a portable dvd player we take movies to play too, which passes the time. Since we fly first class, we are alone in the two seats and aren't bothering anyone with our bags of stuff that way either. I noticed the plane fair has gone up $40 since we booked our flight!

Everyone have a great weekend and try and keep cool!

Good morning, ladies! I had a nice long post made and it disappeared - so this has to be short.

Gloria - great to hear from you. Congratulations on 50 years - WOW!

Jean - When you see the water level is way down in the resevoirs, you know the restrictions are really necessay. You tell your visitors how to conserve water. The surcharge is a good way to make sure people are watching how much they use.

Happy Friday, Flowers! The sun is peeking out and around the clouds this afternoon. We need rain badly! Our yard has cracks in the dirt; you'd think with all the rain we got in May the moisture would have lasted awhile. I've been putzing some more this morning. I got lots done but nothing that can be seen -- Bob will ask what I accomplished on my list.

Gloria -- How nice to see your post today! I know exactly what you mean about gray hair having a mind of it's own! Congratulations on your
50th Anniversary! It will be wonderful to have all of your family home to celebrate with you! Enjoy!

"Gma" -- We don't have a lot of storage space and I'm a good "pile-it"! Most of it ends up in the bedrooms unfortunately. I guess I just hate to part with anything that has good memories tied to it. I have some old ratty t-shirts that I've been saving for when we paint and then they will get pitched for sure. How much more does it cost to fly first class? Bob is threatening to pay for 3 seats instead of 2 the next time we fly. We didn't have any trouble to or from Maui, but coming home Amanda's parents got stuck with a HUGE OVERWEIGHT OBNOXIOUS man. He had the window seat and was there first. He overflowed to the middle seat so Ann couldn't put the arm rest down even. Knowing her I'm surprised she didn't complain to the flight attendant. Both she and Denny are tall; Ann is "fluffly" at 6', while Denny is skinny but 6'7" tall! They had a miserable 6 hour flight. I would think the airlines would be changing the size of their seats since the general population is taller and heavier than they used to be.

Susan -- Sorry you lost your post! I've done that too. Hope your day at work is going well.

I need to keep moving. Have a great weekend!

Jean -- from Iowa!
