Managed all challenges yesterday. It's been crazy around here, but I'm hoping today will calm down.

Red - 1 more day! You can do it!

Ashley - Looks like you're on a roll yourself! Keep it up!

Apple - Hope everyone is on the mend! Good luck on the beer challenge. You CAN do it!

Jolly & Shad - Sure hope things are going better for you!

Congrats Rab! 1 Challenge down, and more following quickly. Good job!

    Have a great day all!
  • Day 13 for exercise, start over for the beer. I encountered my usual problem starting a no beer challenge, there were still a few cold ones in the fridge. So now that I've cleaned house, I'm off! I'll bet I can do it with NO PAUSES too, although I'll keep it at level 2 just in case. And if I can do it with no pauses I will reward myself with a new pair of shorts!
I want to do South Beach Phase 1 again, but I also have to clean the house of carbs. I hate wasting food. Plus I hate that you can't eat fruit. I'd like to get more veggies and fruit in my diet. So maybe it will be a modified deal..we'll see how I do this next week if I just keep the cals low...
    Red! One more day!!!
DJ, way to go! You are so persistent and it's working for you!! Talk about inspiration!
Jolly and Shad, life happens! Don't let it be a setback!! Move forward!!
Ashley, you're off to a great start!
  • I can do it!
    Thanks dj, Apple!!
  • Decided to leave off the new challenges until after the weekend. It's our long weekend roster here.
I'm still up with the exercise challenge
I'm on day 10 there and so far no pauses, I'm doing okay.

Red, I see your little light aglow. Your doing well with those tough challenges. Keep going, it can only make you feel better. I have down days where I feel that the effort and energy put into exercise or determination is not doing anything but eventually something puts a smile on my face.
    Your day is coming.

Gotta run. It's bedlam here. Everyone is going down sick 'cept me. Think we are all dropping into depression from the incessant rains.
  • Calories - <1500, day 4, no pauses taken
Vege/fruit - at least 5 servings per day, day 4, no pauses taken
Food log every day, day 4, no pauses taken
Exercise - 30 minutes per day, day 4, no pauses taken

Good day today. Went to a nice restaurant and just had salad and a very small cup of chili. Nice to experience self-control on rare occasions!
  • Ladies:

We have Tropical Cyclone Nelson bearing down on us from the north. It may come to nothing, but the general consensus seems to be that if it continues on it's winning way we will be inundated and flooded again from tomorrow onwards.
Should this happen, you will understand why you don't hear from me for probably the best part of 3 or 4 days. We may well be without power, without roads and minus the odd building or two, if it turns really nasty. If it blows out to sea as it well might do, I'll be back on air tomorrow. In the meantime, those of us who were going home tomorrow have been reticketed onto today's flights and are leaving in a steady stream. I'm not one of them and I will be here at Fawlty Towers and doing my best to stay out of trouble and not go stark raving bonkers.

I'll be back whenever. Have fun.
  • Day 15 - 4 servings of fruit/vegetables per day - good - 1 pause left
Day 15 - No smoking - good - no pauses allowed!
    Day 6 - Calories under 1800 - pause - level 3

Well, had one pause for the day. Don't know what my problem was yesterday, I was so hungry and just didn't care! Maybe it was the no smoking thing again. It hit me a couple of times in the beginning, but luckily it hasn't been every day!

Shad - You sound so matter of fact about that cyclone! I'm not sure I'd handle it that well, but then again, I've never lived anywhere that those kinds of things were a part of life. Earthquakes and forest fires were all I have ever dealt with. Take care! We'll be thinking about you.

Ashley - Awesome job on that self-control! Way to go!

Red - Hope you are doing well!

Apple - I like the way your attitude about the beer is sounding! You can do it!

    Have a great day all!
  • Shad, hope you all stay safe down there! It is finally raining and snowing here, we REALLY needed some weather!!
DJ you are doing so well! Less than a week to go!
Ashley, congrats on the self control! I love that feeling, but it hardly ever happens to me.

Day 14 exercise, day 1 No beer. I think I might be coming down with the bug that my boys have been suffering from. Only problem is moms are not allowed to get sick. Hello Vitamin C! I need to cut back on food soon. I just don't feel ready yet. I'd like to lose 5 pounds by the end of the month. Have a good day everyone!
  • Okay, I'm just starting, so 5 minutes intentional exercise everyday, I think I can commit to that. No pause days for me barring emergencies, like 18 hour shifts. Colds don't count, seeing as I have one today.

Day one has been a success!!!!
  • it's over!!!
Hey people, I finished the sugar challenge!! No fanfare, not a good day, but it's done and I'm currently unchallenged. Will try to get in here and write later. I'm pretty down because of work as usual and I am really not in a good way. There's nothing that can be done about it other than quitting the job or changing my perspective and/or trying to focus on other things, the small things, the small happinesses. I really am glad I have you all to come to. It does help a lot.
  • Day 16 - 4 servings of fruit/vegetables per day - good - 1 pause left
Day 16 - No smoking - good - no pauses allowed!
    Day 6 - Calories under 1800 - good - 2 pauses left

Good on all 3 challenges yesterday.

Red-good job on that sugar challenge! Sorry to hear you're having a hard time though. You need to do whatever is best for you. Take some time to think about things!

Rhiannon - Glad to have you here! Good luck with your challenge.

    Busy day today, gotta run!
  • Day 15 exercise
    Day 2 no beer
I have to stop eating so much!
    Soooo.....<1500 cals challenge! Level 2.

    Hello Rhiannon!

Red! I hope you are dealing with your demons and figuring it all out!
Like DJ said, take your time, we'll hold down the fort!
And..... ! Great work on those tough challenges!!

    DJ still cruising along! Great!
  • Day 2 5 minutes intentional exercise done!!
Day 1 Record everything on fitday.com

Thanks for all the welcomes guys!!! This website just makes everything easier!!!
  • Calories - <1500, day 5, 1 pause taken
Vege/fruit - at least 5 servings per day, day 6, no pauses taken
Food log every day, day 6, no pauses taken
Exercise - 30 minutes per day, day 6, no pauses taken

No self control yesterday evening, so I had to take a pause on calories. I did very well all day, until making Valentine's "care" packages to send off to my daughter and her college friends. Was going to have just one bite of candy, and then pretty soon it was too late. Finally just had to go to bed. Brought all the left-over sweets into work this morning and dumped them in the break-room. Not a good thing to do to my overweight co-workers but I had to get it out of my house.

Red - congratulations on the sugar challenge. Way to go! I'm sorry things are still tough at work.

Apple - you're touching the big 3 now - food, exercise and beer! Keep up the good work.

Shad - I hope the storm did not hit your location. We have hurricane threats here on a regular basis in the summer, so I can relate. Please stay safe.

Rhiannon - Welcome! You're off to a great start. My high weight was almost exactly where you're at today. Good luck with your challenge. What kind of exercise are you doing?

DJ - You're just clicking off the days now. In the home stretch.

My office is working towards becoming a "Wellness Workplace". One of the things we do is hold periodic health fairs, one of which was last week. We were scored on weight, BMI, blood pressure, etc. I was reviewing the summary data this morning and saw that 75% of our staff were either obese or morbidly obese. And it was the more health-conscious employees that actually participated in the health fair. Wonder what the data would have looked like if all employees were included?? I was pleased to see that I was in the overweight section for most of the data. IMy scores were high in the obese section until very recently. It would be really cool to shrink out of the overweight category some day. I've not been there in a really, really, long time.
