SOLLY: Here is the secret to a good Reuben, according to my SIL the chef... Take your two pieces of rye bread, butter them lightly on one side, and put them butter down, side by side in a skillet over a low flame. Spread some Thousand Island dressing on both pieces and top with a slice of swiss cheese. Then, in another skillet, make a mound of drained sauerkraut (the better quality is best...) and put sliced corned beef on top of the sauerkraut. Put it over medium low heat and let the sauerkraut steam, and the steam will go up and warm the corned beef. When the meat and kraut is warm, pick up the mound with a spatula and put it on the bread, top with the other piece of bread, and serve immediately. The bread toasts, the corned beef doesn't dry out, and the whole effect is delicious!

Well, we're back and Rachel should not get any diseases in the near future! She got the meningitis shot, the new hpv shot against cervical cancer and a dose of flumist. The doctor noted that although she has grown three inches in the last year, she has also gained 30lbs. She feels that it is physiological in nature and does not want us to wait for her regular endocrinologist appt in December. She went in for her asthma on August 14, and has gained 5 lbs since then! So it could be her insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome or thyroid, or anything else! so who knows! I'll give them a call tomorrow and see when the can see her.

Hey Toni, thanks for the spaghetti recipe, it looks wonderful!!! I can't wait to try it out. I wonder if Splenda affects someone the same way that aspartame and other artificial sweeteners do...if I make it for my BF I'll have to split it and make some for him w/sugar.

I got the book today!!! Can't wait to sit down and read it this weekend.

Was going to exercise but did some other chores that absolutely needed done...gonna definitely hit it tomorrow.

Hi to everyone! I read all the posts, will check in later and write more...Ginger

I just finished cleaning up after dinner. I did not do a very good job. Too tired! Dinner was roast, and salad. I made boiled new potatoes for the family, and ended up eating two small ones. I will check my blood sugar in a bit to see how it effects me.

I have been trying to find a local source for the paper I use for my pastel paintings. I am so frustrated! No one has it in stock and ordering it from an online place is very expensive because the cost of shipping about doubles the cost. Hobby Lobby is not carrying it anymore. Every local place I have tried does not have it. I tried a different brand this afternoon, and I just don't like it as well.

Tom is working on plumbing. I think I may have to find a good book to read. That, or I need to play an online game. Mahjong is good....

Sweet dreams, everyone!

it was such a pretty night last night I wanted to skip the gym and take a walk but everyone else was geared up for the gym so we went. Got in 30 minutes of cardio and 20 minutes of wts. That is 4 times (maybe 5, I can't remember if we walked Sunday or not). We should get in a walk at least one day over the weekend.

We may go to Bardstown to the Bourbon Festival tomorrow. Tomorrow night we have a wedding to attend. I guess Sunday will be spent working around the house.

Thin, have a great trip. Hope you can get Rachel in the dr soon for some answers.

Monet, thanks for the corn beef recipe. I will have to try it the next time I make them. They are my fav. Hope you find your paper somewhere. Did you try on line?

Heart, hope Boogies, dr's appt comes out great. Chineese will do that to you. Hang in there.

Ginger, maybe you could leave out the splenda all together. You may want to try it. You are one tall drink of water.

The board is so slow. Where is everyone? Guess I will get busy. Not too much going on today, my boss is out of town.

Good morning! I have been out for my walk, and had my shot, and breakfast. I need to hop into the shower in a few minutes, and get cleaned up. Then I am babysitting Kaeleb for a while so Laura can go to an appointment. Tonight, I have to direct a wedding rehearsal. Its my first time being in charge like that, and I am a bit nervous. I am sure it will go fine, but the 'new' 'unknown' often puts my gut in knots. I slept really well last night, only waking up at 2:30 to potty, and then at 6:15 when Tom kissed me goodbye. I guess the hour of exercise yesterday helped.

SOLLY: Yes, you can buy the paper online. It is about $20 for a package, and $10 shipping! This is why I am kicking myself for NOT purchasing all they had on clearance. The sheets I paid $2 for sell for $7! Online, I can get smaller ones, which suits me, but gosh, who wants to pay that much to ship a package of 16 9x12 sheets of paper? I even wrote to one company and complained. The PRESIDENT wrote me back explaining that they actually lose money on orders less than $50. I am not sure I believe that, but I was impressed that he took the time to try and soothe me. If I can save enough $$ to purchase two packages, I will do that. It will cost me over $50, and I am aware art supplies are very expensive...I just can't justify spending that much on something that is not essential unless I have extra $$, and I don't right now. Maybe I can talk one of my kids into getting me some for Christmas.... (but by Christmas, I may be on to a different medium...)

Hi everyone--this will be quick as I'm working on a project this morning.

Still struggling with getting the eating back where it needs to be. My head isn't in the game, so to speak.

Speaking of game. . . MISSY--tomorrow's the big day--one of us will know a lot more about our team! I think it is anyone's guess--whoever is on their game tomorrow! Poor BOB, she loves us both so she's trading water so carefully, but that's ok, she has my permission to root for LSU!!!!!

I'm glad to see we have a new football fan on board--We can pull for the Huskers, like BOB says, until one of us meets them in a bowl game.

Belle seems to be doing ok. . .

Monet--what kind of paper are you looking for? We have an art department here at Auburn, perhaps I can look to see if the book stores have what you are looking for--Susan

FILLISE: Its called Art Spectrum Colourfix paper. It comes in two sizes, 9x12 and 20x28, and in 16 colors. It does not matter to me what the colors are, to be honest with you. I have done grapes on dark blue, and a cafe' scene from Corfu on an oyster beige. If they have the 9x12, it would fit into a priority mail box, and I think you can get the ones that are like $5 no matter what the weight... If you could find some for me, I would be forever in your debt!

Good morning everyone. Slept in this morning. So hopped right up and got on the treadmill. I'm so pleased I've made it a week of walking on it. And I've had no wine and my eating has been pretty good. Now if I can hold that all for the week end. We had hot wings for dinner last night and they weren't as good as I thought they'd be. We're going to stuff some mushrooms tonight. (for some reason my DH is dying to have them) and I don't know what else. Its nice and cool today again. I have to go to town this afternoon so I'd better get busy here.

Heartmom- I have such trouble with chinese food. I love it and eat to much of it.... Good luck with Boogie and the cardio. Wow I didn't know you could get exercise CD's from netflex.

Thin- Sounds like Rachel. really got it yesterday. I hope you can get her tested sooner. Bless her heart....

Ginger- Just leave out the sugar all together. Its not that much.

Monet- Your dinner sounds so good. I might have to make a roast this week end. Yum! Good luck with the wedding rehearsal....

Solly- I can't imagine how neat it would be to have people to go to a gym or walk with. My DH won't do any of that. That has to be inspiring!

Fillise- Just keep coming here and it will finally click in. That's what happened to me. Even though its still a struggle.

Well time to go... Be back in awhile.

AAAHHHH! Nice cool weather and Friday night high school football! Nothing better! And we're ready to hit the beach tomorrow. I have a call in to the endocrinologist for Rachel. I left a detailed message, so maybe they will give her an appointment soon. She actually seems to be taking this well now that she knows the doctor is not baming her for anything. She was afraid she would get "chewed out" for her eating or something.

Monet, have a great time on your trip. Don't you leave Sunday? It would be great if Susan can find the paper for you.

Thin, I meant to tell you that I commend you for getting your DD the shot for cervical cancer. Some people are balking at the idea of their girls taking it. Being a cancer survivor, I truly believe you should jump at anything that is a preventative. Have a great time at the beach.

Susan, sometimes it takes awhile to get back to where you need to be. Like Toni said, just keep coming here and it will click soon. Good luck on the game tomorrow. There should be some good games this weekend.

Toni, great job on your walking this week. I haven't had any wine this week either, but I know I will have some tonight and tomorrow night we have a wedding so there will be some there too.

Bob, It's going to be a busy day for the SEC tomorrow. Good luck to your Vols. Tell Kate to give a cheer for the Cats tomorrow.

Missy, how is Alexis' ear infection? Hope all is cleared up by now. Get some scrapbooking done over the weekend. Oh, a scrapbooking tip. (not from me,but by niece does a lot of it). The little brown scrapers that Pampered Chef sells for the stoneware are great for removing labels.

Gator, Good luck to your team tomorrow too. It's going to be a good one. Hope I get to watch it.

Just a quick check in. Just finished lunch. Grilled chicken sandwich on ww bun from Chic A Fillet and a side salad. It was delishious.

Have a great weekend, if I don't get back here.

I got in from the rehearsal just a bit ago. We had some dinner...Mexican meat, lettuce, cheese and salsa....the guys ate Tostitos.

I tried rocking the fussy baby, but he would not be consoled, so I handed him back to his mother.

I am off to see what kind of trouble I can get into!

Hey Ladies!

Well, Alexis seems to be feeling better – the meds must be working. She had a family visit today. I spent some time with the Social Worker trying to get some questions answered and I’m just so depressed, disappointed, you name it about this whole process. Let me fill you in on what I found out today….

First of all, October 2nd is the permanency hearing. That is when Social Services will say that they recommend Termination of parental rights and adoption for Alexis. I’m sure all will be in agreement with this. After that, the next step is the termination hearing – it could be 6 months to a YEAR before this happens. In the mean time, the parents continue to get 2 visits a month and they can continue to work on their case plan. Now, usually, once adoption is the plan, the parents only get 1 visit a month but the social worker wants to keep it at 2 because she feels it will be easier on Alexis. Right now they get 3 visits a month so it will be less. She doesn’t adapt to change well and only seeing them 1 time a month may be too hard on her. I see her point but to me…in fairness to US – she should only have the 1 visit. They had their chance to prove themselves and they blew it! Anyway, I do love my social worker and I know that she’s looking out for Lexi’s best interest. I asked her about the fact that the parents can appeal and she said that if they did, they would have to pay for the attorney. SO, I don’t think that appeal will happen – they don’t have money for an attorney. The fact that this could take 2 more years before it’s finalized is sickening. She told me not to feel confident about this until all is said and done because anything can happen in the court system. She did tell me that since she has been a SW she has only seen 1 case where the kids were up for termination and they ended up going back with the parents. SO, that is kind of reassuring. I just can’t imagine having to give her up! You all do know that I’ll be writing on this board from an institution if I have to let her go. So, here I am thinking I’ll know definitely if she’ll be ours or not in October when actually I may not know for another 2 years! Let’s evaluate – is this in the BEST INTEREST OF THE CHILD??! They did get the paternity test back yesterday and found out that the guy who thought he was the dad actually is the dad. At least now they don’t have to go on a search for the father.

TALITHA: I’m so happy that you got a new car! That must be a huge relief for you!

BOB: Since Auburn loses when you pull for them…go right ahead and cheer your little heart out for them!! HA! Lex was pulling on her ears but she does that all the time when she’s tired too – so it’s hard to tell when she actually has an infection. She does have tubes and last week she did have some drainage so I used some of the drops I had from her last infection and it stopped draining – I figured it was clearing up. Guess not!

THIN: I’m sure you will have a wonderful time at the beach! Think of those of us that will be sitting home doing our weekend chores! Your poor DD! I hope they can find out what is causing her to gain so rapidly. Sounds like she’s very active and shouldn’t be putting it on like that – unless she’s a closet eater and you don’t know about it. Please keep us posted!

GINGER: I just realized something….you know that team Nebraska played last weekend – Nicholls State? Well, that college is 1 mile from my house! That’s where I graduated from! HAHA! Y’all kicked their butts! We were laughing when they were talking about Nicholls on Game Day on ESPN!! I looked at my husband and said “Did they just say NICHOLLS STATE on Game Day!?” He was like – yeah – only because they are playing Nebraska!!! HAHA! We were cracking up because it is such a small college. Actually, last year they did really good in their conference – but still, no match for a big school!! So, I guess I could have pulled against you last week and threw some SMACK your way but I didn’t even know until game day! HAHA!

MONET: Why don’t you take a picture of the picture that you painted and post it so that we can see it! I would love to see your work – you are so talented in so many areas!!

SOLLY: Thanks for checking up on my eating. I didn’t have a great week but it wasn’t horrible. See what happens when I let myself slip that one time. Tomorrow is a brand new day! I can do this! I hope to get some scrapbooking done this weekend too! I told Terry that he would have to watch her for a couple of hours each day while I worked. What kind of labels are being scraped for scrapbooking? How was the wedding? Did you splurge?

HEART: I love Chinese too – all the bad stuff! Let us know how Boogie’s appointment went. How old is he now?

FILLISE: I agree – it should be a good game but we’ll see what team really shows up! It could go either way. Hopefully I’ll get to watch it!! Sometimes Lexi doesn’t always want to do what we want to do. Terry always tapes the game though so I can catch the highlights later if I need to! Have a great time – hopefully you won’t run into too many obnoxious LSU idiots! Always remember – there are some good LSU fans out there among all of those fools! Glad Miss Belle is doing ok!!

TONI: I was at my Dad’s the other day and they had stuffed some mushrooms too! They looked DEVINE! What do you stuff yours with? I think they said that they didn’t use seafood this time – but they used different types of vegetables.

Well, I guess I’m off to do a little scrapbooking before I go to sleep.

See you all tomorrow!
Missy
