Hope everyone has plans for a relaxing weekend. Nothing to big with me.
We are having a yard sale fund raiser at our church for our friend that has leukemia. We are setting up tonight and that will run tomorrow from 8-noon. We are also having a 24 hour prayer vigil at church for all the sick, so I will have an hour in there also. Then nothing else planned for the weekend. Normal stuff, like cleaning the house, laundry, etc. Pretty boring.
Country, Hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Munch, I think you will be able to reach your goal if you stick with the plan. You definately have some good motivation.
Toni, It's hard to get those men motivated to start a project like that. Than they go whole hog and won't stop. Enjoy your nice weather. Spring will be here soon.
Thin, Sorry your DS is having such a reaction to the shots. Sounds like they need to cut them down for sure.
Nicoee, Chick-Filet has a grilled chicken breast with a wheat bun. I'm sure it's not 100% ww but a better choice. My favorite place for chicken too.
Dripping, I don't have success with the brown rice either. I use Basmatti rice and it turns out better.
Monet, Enjoy your massage. I keep thinking I will get one soon.
Princess, have a good day. Hope it's not too busy.
Gator, Hi girl, where have you been? I caught the end of that Tn game the other night. I thought sure Fl was going to pull it out. We play them next week and then you guys. We have LSU tomorrow so it could be 3 straight losses to end the year
Got to run. Have a great day and weekend in case I don't get back.
Good morning everyone. TGIF!! I for one am glad that this week is over. I had the absolute worst time getting out of bed today. You watch, tomorrow I'll be up at the crack of dawn with no problem at all.
I was pleasantly surprised by the metal monster this morning. I figured that my horrible dinner last night would adversly affect my weigh in but it didn't. I'm down 3 pounds this week.
You know what I like most about the SB WOE? I doesn't feel like a diet at all. I don't really feel restricted in what I can eat, I just have to make some minor adjustments. I should have done this a long time ago. I feel so encouraged by the loss so far and by this board.
Guess I should get some work done this morning. I hope you all have a great OP day.
I lost my previous trackers and did not make my mini-goal by my birthday, which is tomorrow, so not going to make it by then! I vow to myself to do better and get this show on the road! I am sooo tired of cheating and then feeling like crap!~ My doctor called me this am and said that my thyroid level was indeed low, so we will up the med and test again at my next visit. Maybe that will help!
Hey, how is everyone today? I'm doing alright. Looking forward to the weekend. We rented a bunch of movies last night so we will probably just be lazy this weekend since it supposed to rain again. I was wondering if anyone has a broccoli-cheese soup recipe that is SB legal? Also, I know hot wings are high in fat but are they okay once in awhile as long as there is just buffalo wing sauce on them and not breading? Thanks. Have a great day all.
Edited to add: 20/20 is having a segment tonight on "whole wheat". It might be interesting. I'd like to see what they have to say about it and if it is accurate.
My massage, as usual, was wonderful. When I first laid down on the table, I could hardly relax, but after about 15 minutes into it, I felt like lead jello. It was great. We walked back up here, and re did my linen closet. It looks so nice! My massage therapist has LOTS of sheets she uses on her massage table, and to store them, she folds them a certain way and rolls them. We did that with all my sheets and towels and it makes the shelves much neater. I have a bunch of stuff to get rid of, but my linen closet is looking rather nice! After we finished the closet, we went and worked on cream cheese mints for the wedding. I am much faster at molding the mints than anyone else, but it is very nice to have some company to talk to while doing it. Laura joined us and we got enough done to have at the reception, though we do have some of the stuff left unmolded. If we have more time in the next day or two, we can mold more. We made hearts, leaves, fleur de lis, and roses. The roses and hearts are white, and the rest are pale green. They look so nice! Most people do not realize the mints are the most labor intensive thing on the table!
I have a ton of cleaning to do, but Laura is a great help with that, so we should be able to get some of it done over the weekend.
The trial run of the groom's cake recipe was NOT a success in my book. I am not sure what I will do about it. I guess I will try and catch Justin and talk to him in the next few days and get it settled. He might like it...I just felt like it did not hold together well.
MANDI: Wings that are not breaded should be ok. Did you check the Sugarbusters recipe forum for legal broccoli and cheddar soup? I am sure there are several on there...I believe I put one on myself a while back. If you can not find any, let me know and I will see if I can find one to post for you. Here is the link: http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=89
THIN: I hope the new increase in thyroid meds will help. Since tomorrow is Saturday and I can't remember if you get on much on the weekends:
Happy Birthday, Thin!
NICOLEE: Yay on that loss! Wonderful!!!
SOLLY: Sounds like a very busy weekend to me!
DRIP: I use a pressure cooker to fix my brown rice. Is the success rice par-boiled? The GI of parboiled rice is kind of high. I would only have rice once in a while if I were using that. I use brown rice and it turns out really well in a pressure cooker.
PRINCESS: Hope you are doing ok and have great success in the apartment hunting!
A pressure cooker...of course!! I forgot! I used to have one that I used constantly until the gasket fell apart after many years and I could no longer use it when dangerously hot, watery steam would spit out all over. I could never find that same model and settled for one which I didn't like at all and finally tossed.
After I move, I'll definitely look into buying one. I refuse to buy any new household items until then. So I'll use the Success Rice for now and later switch back to regular.
Just wanted to drop in and say hi and I'm still on track and with a vengance.
Have been gone everyday this week to my moms helping cook for the crew building her house.
Menu for the day was as follows:
Breakfast-One apple didn't have time to eat anything else was busy cooking
Snack-one apple
Lunch-one cup green bean casserole, 1/2 grilled hamburger pattie, 1/2 cup grilled chicken
Snack-water, trisquits
Supper-grilled catfish, lettece and cucumber salad w/1 TBS ranch dressing
Am finishing up my gallon of water
Its started raining here and it is supposed to rain all nite and all day tomorrow. Hope everyone has a great weekend. I am going to enjoy staying at home...lol
DRIP: I have a Fagor Splendid six quart that I just LOVE. I also have two Fagor Rapidas I use a lot, one is a four quart and the other seven. I also have the church's ten quart Splendid until we move into the kitchen area in our new building, so I use it too. Check on Amazon, as their prices are awesome! The new ones are really easy to use and much safer than the old ones.
I just started SB again after a four-year hiatus of trying all kinds of other diets that didn't work. I posted here for a little bit back then.
I have high blood pressure, and I've noticed when I eat sugar, I can feel the blood thumping through my body later. Guess the sugar makes it all thick and sticky (another reason to do SB).
I'll put a bio up, but the short version is this -- I'm 53 and weigh 340 pounds. I have always had a weight (sugar) problem, but have never been this obese. Hoping to lose the weight that has plagued me for so long, I look forward to getting to know everyone here and giving support, too!
Have an on-plan weekend, all! I will face the evil scale on Monday with everyone...
Monet--The success rice is regular brown rice that has been cooked and then dehydrated. It is put into a boil-in-bag and I just put the bag in boiling water for 10 minutes to reconstitute it.
Claire--Welcome. We are so glad you are here.
All my posts have been pretty short this week because I have been really busy. Next week will be the same. And then we are going to Key West with my DS and her DH after the wedding. They are coming down for it, and then just staying on to visit FL for a while.
Fagor Splendid, I would never have heard of that. Thanks. I did a quick search and it looks like something I may very well purchase after I move. My daughter has an Ebay account so I'll let her find one for me, and if not, I see Amazon has them and I buy lots of stuff off that site. I also tried to do a search on the brand I thought it was I had before and didn't come up with anything. This was years ago, before the age of the internet when it was so difficult to find some things. The pressure cooker was a French manufacture.
Waterbaby, hello! I did the same thing. Did so well on SB and then drifted away from it and gained all the weight back plus. Why oh why couldn't I have gotten back OP when it got to be 10 lbs.
Thunderwoman, I must eat three times what you just listed above. I don't know how you do it! At least even though I eat a lot, lot more, I am losing so I guess it's ok.
Thin, it's your birthday now, isn't it? Wishing you a very, very happy day!!
Morning every one....I've been up all night....another one of those nights where I just couldn't sleep. I've got a lot of laundry done which helps, but still a lot to do.
Sorry I've not been around this week, but this is our BUSY TIME at work with all the SNOWBIRDS in town! Traffic is unbelievable, even early in the morning! There ought to be a law down here that THE SNOWBIRDS can't get out until everyone has gone to work!
This is a DRIVE BY but I'll be back later...
Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend so far! I heard from Missy and she is staying on plan and hasn't gained her loss back, but this weekend and Monday is their parade and she isn't holding back! She'll be back after
Mardi Gras is over...
Thanks for the nice welcome. I already am feeling at home here.
Key West is one of my favorite places, next to St. Augustine and Sarasota.
Traffic sure can back up. I used to stop off at a bakery in Marathon for key lime pie and wait for the traffic to let up. sigh....guess I'll just remember what it tastes like.
I'll be reading back posts and recipes and oh, gosh, all kinds of threads here. What a treasury of information!!!
I'll address individuals as I get to know you. What a great group here; no one has a huge ego and everyone helps everyone else. Very refreshing!
Here's a funny that I got from Shirley (SEF) this morning and I thought I would share. I also told her that we miss her on the board and want her to come back. Her little town is still trying to recoup from KATRINA, but her and her family are fine.
The day finally arrived; Forrest Gump died, and goes to Heaven. He is at the Pearly Gates, met by St. Peter himself. However, the gates are closed, and Forrest approaches the Gatekeeper.
St. Peter said, "Well, Forrest, it is certainly good to see you. We have heard a lot about you. I must tell you, though, that the place is filling up fast, and we have been administering an entrance examination for everyone. The test is short, but you have to pass it, before you can get into Heaven."
Forrest responds, "It shor is good, to be here, St. Peter, sir. But nobody ever told me, about any entrance exam. I shor hope that the Test ain't too hard, life was a big enough test, as it was."
St. Peter continued to say, "Yes, I know, Forrest, but the test is only three questions.
First: What two days of the week,! begins with the letter T?
Second: How many seconds, are there, in a year?
Third: What is God's first name?"
Forrest leaves to think the questions over. He returns the next day, and sees St. Peter, who waved him up, and said , "Now that you have had a chance to think the questions over, tell me your answers."
Forrest replied, "Well, the first one -- which two days in the week, begins with the letter "T"? Shucks, that one is easy. That would be, Today and Tomorrow."
The Saint's eyes opened wide, and he exclaimed, "Forrest, that is not what I was thinking, but you do have a point, and I guess, I did not specify, so I will give you credit, for that answer. How about the next one?" asked St. Peter. "How many seconds in a year?
Now that one is harder," replied Forrest, but I thunk, and thunk, about that, and I guess the only answer, can be twelve.
" Astounded, St. Peter said, "Twelve? Twelve? How in Heaven's name could you come up with twelve seconds in a year?" Forrest replied, "Shucks, there is got to be twelve: January 2nd, February 2nd, March 2nd . . ."
"Hold it," interrupts St. Peter. "I see where you are going with this, and I see your point, though that was not quite what I had in mind..... but I will have to give you credit, for that one, too. Let us go on, with the third, and final question. Can you tell me God's first name"?
"Sure", Forrest replied, "its Andy."
Andy?" exclaimed an exasperated, and frustrated St. Peter. "Ok, I can understand, how you came up, with your answers to my first two questions, but just how in the world, did you come up with, the name Andy, as the first name of God?"
"Shucks, that was the easiest one of all," Forrest replied. "I learnt it from the song. "ANDY WALKS WITH ME, ANDY TALKS WITH ME, ANDY TELLS ME, I AM HIS OWN. .
" St. Peter opened the Pearly Gates, and said: "Run Forrest, run."
Give me a sense of humor, Lord,
Give me the ability to understand a clean joke, to get some humor out of life, And to pass it on to other folk.
