Hey Everyone!:D

Just got home from my lunch with my friend Gail, who I haven't seen since December-we went to Longhorn-ordered a salad and sweet potatao-found a nice piece of bug in the bottom of my salad:eek: GROSS! Needless to say, I prayed I didn't eat the missing part of it, and got lunch free-I'm a cheap date I guess! I wish restaurants would be more careful with the food-I can only imagine what goes on in the back that we don't see!

CATHY2, Splenda MAY be giving you problems. In MODERATION, it's probably okay, but look at the ingredients on the box...DEXTROSE, MALTODEXTRIN & SUCRALOSE-these are all forms of sugar-AND MALTODEXTRIN has a GI of 105 (on glucose based) and part of the interview with Mendosa and one of the Dr.'s from SB was:

"Maltose, more commonly called malt sugar, is present in beer and works the quickest. Glucose, the primary sugar in corn syrup, is not far behind. And dextrose is the same as glucose, says Dr. Sam Andrews, one of the authors. So too is maltodextrin. "

Personally, it does effect me-from what I saw in the past, and possibly this is what's effecting me now, like I said, will cut down to 1-2 Carbolites a week now and see what happens. When I got it like this before, I didn't have trouble, but maybe having them too often has made a difference. I would say, 12 packets may be a bit too much, whereas maybe 2-3 wouldn't do anything to you. It doesn't hurt to experiment and see by cutting back.

FRUIT, since you've been gone, as you can see there were major changes with the boards, but once you get use to them, you'll love them. Many new "faces" on the board too, and as always, everyone is great!!!:) You should feel right back at home. Glad to see you are planning for your dinner out tonight-don't let ANYTHING sidetrack you! What kind of float will you be adorning??? Looking forward to see more of you on the boards!!!

Gonna go get Lauren at school-then rip off my clothes and settle in for the rest of the day.

Will check in later!

Please clear this up for me!

Hi All you SB Gals

Alright, I'm fessing up...I've have a bad week. Started out great. Monday & Tuesday I weighed in at 156, a 2 lb loss from last WIW & I was SOOOO excited. Tues night I endulged in a fried shrimp poboy from Bourbon Street Deli. Yell at me for doing a stupid thing, I'll understand. Then Wed I got on the scale & weighed 158.: : I was good Wed..ate the right things. Thurs I weighed 160!!!: : Now I'm kicking myself up & down for that poboy, but then how could I gain 4 lbs on just that?? Well, come to find out it was all fluid because this am I'm back down to 156 :) Boy, am I releaved! But you can bet I won't be doing that again anytime soon.

OK, I've caught up with the reading or should I say skimming the posts on this week's board & I know I'm not addressing all of you, but here's some that I wanted to respond to.

I also agree with many of you on this board about the diet cokes being bad for this WOE. I have almost completely cut them out of my WOE, just having one occasionally. I have also noticed that when I do have one, like BEACH said, it seems to make me retain water.

BEACHFAN, Thanks for sharing your up & down episodes with the scale. It has helped me not feel so bad about my battle this week. You are so right about how some people react to us wanting to be healthy & keep our weight down. They just don't understand why we do it. If we start back eating all those things that we avoided to lose the weight, well..... why did we stop eating those things anyway??? It's because they are not good for us, so why should we eat them ever again?

gardengirl, Welcome to the board! Glad to have you join us & looking forward to getting to know you. Are you saying that Sweet & Lo was causing ALL those problems that you mentioned? ie: night sweats anxiety attacks , general poor health?? Gee.... what are you using as a sweetner now?

Sasahm, Thanks for sharing your testimony about your weight loss success. Yes, things always seem to go best when we put the most important things first. Our weight loss seems to be almost equal since the first of the year. I have lost 18 lbs.

AMSERAPHIM, Congratulations to your DH on his winning the race. Enjoyed our chat the other day.

VIV, Hope your dad's surgery goes well. When is it going to be? Do you know yet? Praying for you both.

SPARKLESCAMP, & FrogLover, Looks like we're the 3-some this week at 156 lbs. Count me in!!!

sonjia76, Welcome!! You go to a regular SB meeting? How great.

Lisa_A_A, I have not found your account of your Relay for Life experience yet, but noticed someone else mentioned it as I scanned the posts. This year was my first experience with Relay For Life, but it sure won't be my last!! So glad that you & your family were able to be part of that celebration for life in your area.

Debbie, I can relate with the up & down of the scale!! It's the pits!! But I'm hanging in there too.:D You'd think with all the walking we do, that it would keep that one-eyed monster happy, but it doesn't  Hey, maybe you're onto something with that Carbolite. Hope you're able to limit it like you said. Sure hope your A/C guy shows up & fixes your cool air...I HATE to be hot at night. Can't sleep & rest like that! A BUG in your SALAD? YUCK!! Poor you...are you feeling a little deprived with everything that's going wrong in your world?

ROSALIE, I agree about the CELESTIAL SEASONINGS Tea. They do make the best. I did try some of their flavored green tea. They have several flavors available. Hope you get to go play badmitten more this week as you enjoy it so much. It's hard to make time for US sometimes, but we have to try. We need some fun & stress free times in our lives with the way we work. :) Glad to hear that your brother's bladder cancer was not as bad as feared. Hope you have a pleasurable visit. How far of a trip is that for you? Sounds like it will be a long one, like Viv's to CA.

QUILTER/Kim,was it you who had the SAGGING BRA story? I can relate!!! :D I had to go buy a smaller size too.

LAMAP,I see from your weight that you have reached another milestone & a new set of numbers....congrats!!! Way to go!!

RHOO, Congrats on your size 8!! Oh, poor you...working the night shift has always been so depressing for me. Glad I don't have to do that anymore. But you are fortunate not to have to pay for day care for your kids. That is a definite plus.

BOB, I see you're hanging in there & still smoke free?? You GO girl.

fruitloupe!!! WELCOME BACK! GLAD TO SEE THAT YOU'VE FOUND YOUR WAY BACK TO US. You know what to do, just hop right back on that wagon & start over. We're all here for ya.

Got to go...hope to check in later.

Hi everyone - just a quick post

Melf - your comments about the scale going up after eating something not on plan reminded me of something: Years ago when I weighed 146 lbs and thought I was a cow, I signed up at a place called Weight Loss Clinic. Their plan involved eating no more than 900 calories a day and you could only eat A list proteins with A list veggies and A list fruits. There was almost no dairy allowed and no sugar products. You went and weighed in every day, if I remember correctly, on digital scales that weighed down to the tenth of a pound. I was sooooo good on that plan (probably 'cause it cost me an arm and a leg at a time when I was single living on a secretary's salary) and the weight went down EVERY time I weighed in. The counselors said they could always tell when someone went off the plan because their weight would go up--BUT it would take 2 or 3 days before the scales showed a gain. I went off plan once, for my parents' 40th anniversary party, and sure enough 2 days later the scales went up. I finished the plan and got down to 125 and stayed there for approximately one week. As soon as they started the maintenance program where they introduced foods slowly back into the plan, like corn and peas, I started gaining weight. I really didn't have a support group to rely on and I was so devastated when the weight came right back even though I was going according to the plan. I blame this diet for screwing up my metabolism, until starting SB. I had tried WW many times and would lose a few pounds but got bored with all the work it involved and the boring (never found a good, inspiring leader) meetings that I would quit.

Anyway, my point was that the weight gain doesn't always show up immediately, which makes it hard to sometimes pinpoint what the culprit could be.

(This could be an interesting thread for us: worst dieting experiences or plans we have done)

The garage sale is going good; Saturdays are usually pretty slow, so I think we have pretty much sold most of what will sell now. Have tons of stuff left that I don't want to bring back into the house. Life should get back to normal after this weekend and I'll get back on the TM and have more normal meals. Not really going off plan, but not making the best caloric choices, either.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Karen

SUSAN I know I'm just feeling sorry for myself...I've wiped the grease off my hands and am trying to pull myself up on the wagon...I sure do hope that RHONDA is thru with the handcuffs, cause I'm gonna need them for a while!

MISSY I'm making room in the wagon for you..would you like to sit or stand? I've picked up a few pillows if you'd like one...We're gonna be here for a while...make sure to wipe the grease off your hands before climbing up here...it makes the journey easier!

OH OH....SKEETER has to go.... I'll be back to finish later...

fast catch up

Hello ladies! Well it’s finally Friday and what a challenging week it has been! I’m only hitting the highlights here:

Rosalie/Marie: Again, sounds like you are doing everything right. Maybe it just takes time to start losing. If your exercise routine doesn’t get your heart rate up to the target level for your age, you might want to try something that does for 20 minutes 4 times a week. If that doesn’t work, cut your calories a LITTLE at a time until you find the level that gets you to weight loss: for example, you could keep it to around 1600 a day, then 1500 if you don’t lose anything in a few weeks. Sorry to belatedly hear about the loss of your husband (via the bio board).

FruitLoupe, glad you’re back in the loupe! (haha.) I’m new so looking forward to getting to know you. Sounds like you’ve been through a lot lately. Have you considered Overeaters Anonymous or another program for dealing with the “emotional” side of overeating?

Gatorgal, when you mentioned going to an Italian restaurant I just thought of something. I’ve never tried it so I don’t know if this will work. If I knew ahead of time I was going to a certain restaurant, I wonder if I could call ahead and see how they felt about preparing something special for me, like a big side of veggies instead of a starch. If they aren’t very nice about it, at least I would know. If they are cooperative, I could have something worked out ahead of time and not have to go through the whole scene there at the dinner party. At the very least, I could ask them to fax me a menu.

Deb, what is Carbolite? I agree with you that Splenda, much as I dearly love the stuff, should be used in moderation. The packet says, “less than 1 gram of carbohydrates.” Well, I’m going to be safe and assume that means 4 calories of simple carbohydrates or SUGAR. 12 packets = 48 calories which wouldn’t break the bank, but must be accounted for in a day’s total. More importantly, nobody really knows how this artificial sugar affects the body despite many years of testing. And I repeat, it’s best if we can get away from the idea that we NEED something sweet all the time.

I got a 200-packet box stuck to my fingers accidentally at Wal*Mart but I’ve been doing a good job limiting to 1 or 2 packets a day.

I actually found a piece of glass in my food at Outback Steakhouse. Actually, I found it in my mouth. Got a replacement meal but not free. The disturbing part is the only way it could have gotten there is if somebody dropped a glass, THEN dropped the food on the floor and picked it up.

Melf/Mary, yep, the three of us should start a 156 mini-club. ;) Not to be discouraging, but I’ve found myself really hovering in the 150’s. I’ve been thinking it’s a mental thing since I don’t know what it’s like to be thinner. But I’m beginning to think there is a physical aspect too. :(

Well I was looking forward to a “Jack Sh*t” kind of weekend but way too much going on. I just got the devastating news this morning that a conference I was planning to attend in Williamsburg VA, after which I was going to see my “boyfriend,” was cancelled at the last minute due to compliance issues. All the arrangements were already made. At this point I’m too shocked to be pissed. But there is nothing I can do about it regardless.

Okay, really gotta run.

Love,

Chris

The Quilter 04-27-2001 08:41 PM

Well, it’s been a busy Friday. Started going and doing stuff early and am just now getting on to read and post. DH is at a concert and I’ve got three chick movies (I hope) and am going to watch one as soon as I finish. I found sweet potato chips at a new Krogers today. They have a whole Natural Market section that is pretty good. I was SOOOOO excited. Forgot to look for agave nectar though. Not much new happening around here. Still eating on program although I’ve had way too many sweet potato chips this afternoon. No snack for me tonight!!! Maddie had a vet appt this morning. She hates it but we got their early and were in and out in 45 minutes . . . a personal best for us there. Then we went over to the park and did a quick 1 mile walk before I ran errands. Also got up and did the am yoga. I am getting hooked on that. Don’t enjoy the evening one as much. Better go get that one done right now so that I don’t procrastinate until there is no time left to do it.

I am having scale problems. This morning when I got off the scale the needle was WAY under zero. I asked Paul if he had messed with it and he said no. Then tonight he said that after I weighed he put the needle back up to zero. Now I’m having anxiety that my weighing is going to be all screwed up. I want to go buy a new scale but don’t know what’s a good brand or how much to pay for one. Some of you don’t like your digital ones, right? Please give me some advice. I’m kind of in a “state” about this. Want to keep my numbers accurate so that I can know what’s going on with the weight.

I had some of the following in my “to be posted” document and I can’t remember if I did. Sorry if it’s a deja vu.

DEB---That’s so great that you pulled out some exercise tapes. This may be just the “nudge” your body needs to get you to your goal. What di dyou think of the tape? Was it agony? Did you feel good about it? Since you are such a FAST walker, I’ll bet you didn’t even break a sweat. Probably used it for your cool down!! Good going!!!!! HOpe you see those results soon.

GARDEN---I agree with DEB about the weighing. I started weighing every morning on March 20 of this year. Since that time, I have NOT deviated from the program ONE bit!! Some people may think of it as obsessing, but I look at it as a way to keep me in line. If I know I have to weigh in everymorning, I think twice about what I am putting into my mouth the night before. I also copied off of Deb and put these numbers into an Excel spreadsheet. So now I can make a graph of each month and see what happened when. Hey Garden, 3 pounds lighter today!!! That’s great. You and I are very close in weight. Have you set a goal yet? if so, what is it? I agree that Elisabeth should have gotten the car. My niece from FL called during the commercial ranting and raving how Colby should have given the car to someone else. Actually, I couldn’t see that happening. But it would have been cool.

FILLISE---Way to go on another pound gone from your bod. How sweet it is!!!! (Can you tell we’ve been watching the honeymooners in the morning when getting ready for work?)

FRUITLOUPE---Welcome back. Glad to meet you and happy to walk the weight loss road with you. A couple of days of this motivation and inspiration and you’ll be in the thick of it again. Good luck.

BOB---Man, don’t beat yourself up about gaining especially now that you are trying to win in the no cigs game. So you want a kick in the pants, huh? Well, my leg won’t reach to FL, but I’ll tell you this . . . the sooner you get started (and no cheating, right BARB????) the sooner you’ll see results and get where you want to be. Try to find something that will make it click for you. For me it was the weighing every morning. That has really made me accountable for every day’s eating, not just the couple days before WIW. There’s something that will work for you. BTW are you still chomping on those stick things that help with cravings? Wondered if they really worked.

RHROO---You are SO RIGHT about the exercise!!!! I am so agreeing with you. I am almost starting to look forward to it. Got a GREAT book I am reading on the TM so that helps a lot. Also, wanted to tell you about a conversation I had with my ear, nose and throat doctor this week. We got to talking about exercise and he asked me what I did. I told him that I was trying to be a regular TM person. He said that he thinks exercise and vitamin D are the two best things for fending off osteoporosis. We had been talking about calcium and osteo. He said that every older person he knows who exercises, doesn’t shrink. Says he personally feels that exercise is the KEY to not becoming tiny and bent over when you are old. I was so glad to hear that. I really NEEDED to hear that. My mom has shrunk quite a bit over the past 15 years and I don’t want to see that happen to me. So that’s the real reason I’m getting on the TM every other day. It’s more of a preventative maintenance thing. I hope you get to see 139 next week. Keep it up!!!

MELF---Sorry to hear about the gains and the off plan eating. Hey, we all have done it. And it’s no fun to see the scale go the wrong way. Now you’ll just have to dust yourself off and get back on the bus. I don’t remember anything about a sagging bra. I’m one of the “lucky” gals with not much to sag. If anything sags on me it’s my behind. Good luck getting back OP. I hope by next WIW, you’ll be back to your 156 or lower.

Have a great weekend. Weather is supposed to be wonderful here. Tomorrow I am in Tutor Training all day from 9 until 3. I secretly pray for rain on these days so that people will want to do an inside thing instead of missing the great weather. It’s also Race for the Cure here. I really wanted to do that for Jackie and my cousin, Dianne. But will not be able to take part. Take care you all.

Hello everyone

I thought I would just read everyones stuff and then go do something. Wow I am truly amazed by the dedication of this group. Tons of stuff since lunch.

Deb I loved the cookies, though they crumbled easily. They were delicious to me, for someone who has not had a cookie in ages they were AWESOME. To others maybe not. My girlfriend who bakes says they do not cook as well as if you use regular sugar and peanut butter, she thought may she would add just a little whole wheat flour to hold it together better. Me I thought they were fine.

Cathy I use Splenda which has no Apertame!

Anyway I do not mean to be rude, but I am going to go!

Have a great evening!!!!!

Debelli 04-27-2001 10:23 PM

Hey!

Just wanted to get in a post before hitting the hay for the night. We all are getting up very early in the morning. We're painting houses for Xmas in April for the less fortunate-even my kids and nephew are going to it. Should be interesting cause I despise painting!

I'm looking for a loss tomorrow. I stepped on the scale a bit ago and weigh the same as I did this morning, so I hope to be less by the morning. Cross those fingers for me. I kept track of what I ate today and really stayed quite in line, a bit too high on the carbs, but if I minus the fiber, I'm right in line:)

My a/c is fixed and my pocket is $155 dollars less as well-it was a part from the original unit which was 23 years old, so I guess I really can't complain-it could of been worse and been the compressor!!!

MELF, glad to hear that poboy sandwich only did temporary damage and you are back down to where you were. Not that you should make that a regular event, but I doubt that one meal made you gain 4lbs, I'm sure it was other things ALONG with the sandwich. I wonder how I gained 3.5lbs-I can only think it's that Carbolite. Can you imagine what it would be like if we weren't walking!!! Deprived, sort of, deprived of me hitting goal, but really more like agonizing being so close and now going in the other direction-oh well, like I've said before, PATIENCE!!!

KAREN, you started the garage sale on Friday-it's weird, up north they do it Friday's and Saturdays and down south you rarely find a G-sale on a Friday, usually Saturdays and slow on Sundays. I can't go tomorrow and there are tons of them-I'm already having withdrawls. Hope you do good tomorrow:)

BIGO, thanks for that link, going to check into it more when I get a chance. See, I wasn't wrong-but I didn't hear about the lumber part. So, are you going to buy a KJ T-shirt?? LOL I died laughing at your posts for Susan and Missy:lol:

SPARKLE, Carbolite is a low calorie, low carb ice cream type of dessert, like a soft serve. Nothing bad in it, but eating too much of it with it having Splenda may be making me have my problems. It's really delicious though-you should see if they have any on the island. WOW, glass in your food, and you didn't get a free meal-they should of been kissing your feet!!! Sorry to hear your travel plans got scrubbed:(

QUILTER, do you think maybe a spring broke in the scale? I like the HEALTH-O-METER scales. That's the brand they use in the Dr.'s office, but I have the floor model with the big face, they also carry a waste model, but I don't like that one, my Mom has it. Treat yourself, they aren't that much money. I've had a digital in the past, didn't like it, but I'm sure they've come a long way since then (1980's). The Tanita brand is suppose to be good. The tape I did was fairly easy, I really didn't care for it that much and probably would only do it when the weather is bad. I'm thinking more about taking the free 2 weeks at the local gym to see if I like it once school gets out for the kids.

GARDEN, glad you liked the cookies, would love to see the recipe for them. When you forego sugar for a long time, the slightest bit of sweet tastes like a ton of sugar to us, whereas others would say there is no sweetnes to them. I've made some really good SB legal cookies, the problem I have is eating too many at one time!

Time to hit the hay. I'll check in with you all sometime tomorrow!

Nite!:dz:

Hi Everyone:) Happy TGIF

Today was a busy work day for me. I accomplished a lot and a project I was working on was completed very successfully. So I could come home feeling pretty good.

We have a busy weekend a head. Tonight my daughter went to the movies and my hubby and I walked 3 miles. My son hit balls in the batting cage while we walked.

My son has a baseball game tomorrow, my daughter works the concession stand and then on Sunday my hubby and son are going to a Senior PGA event and have skybox tickets to watch. I'm going to work in the yard while they are gone and take my daughter out to eat lunch after church.

FRUIT!!!!!!! Glad you are back. You better watch out because there are 3 count them 3 of us that live in Alabama now on the board and guess what? We are all Auburn fans!!!!! You, Gator, and Big O are seriously out numbered.

Gator: Glad to see you back on the board you've been missed. How have you done eating. Were you able to lose or maintain?

BigO: I agree with Rosalie...what is a couple of pounds of weight compared to the years you have put back on your life! You will quickly get back into the swing of things.

Lisa: Hope Ross has a good game tomorrow. Do you have the same problem I have of ball park food. We are at the field all day. I finally asked the Mom that runs the concession stand to keep un salted peanuts there. I try to eat before I go and even take a snack if I think it will be a long day.

Rhoo: Glad you are so close to goal. I know you will get there.

Rosalie: It sounds like you are eating pretty healthy and having the right amount of calories. Hang in there...sometimes it just takes awhile and I know you can do it.

Fillise: Isn't Auburn beautiful in the spring. B'ham is too. I'm going to plant flowers on Sunday and put pinestraw out. Fruitloop is an LSU fan so we will have a nice rivalry going. Last year Gator told me in a post that she was having Tiger meat for dinner. Debbie actually wondered what it was!

Everyone Else have a great weekend.

Hi everyone :)

GloryB - Sorry to hear about that 5 pound gain. Please don't despair I am sure it is only temporary. You have done so well and I am sure with your dedication to this woe it will come off soon.

Fruitloupe - Hi! It's good to see you back. You know we are all here for you and hope you can get back on the wagon and start losing again. I was just thinking about you a couple of days ago and suddenly I see you posting.

Sparkle - I hope you have recovered from the fall off the bike. You'll have to start wearing knee, elbow and butt pads. :D I think it is time Frangipanigirl ditched that boyfriend. I can't imagine anyone 5'7" being 105 lbs unless they are ill or anorexic. I'm 5'7 1/2" and when I used to weigh 140 lbs (quite a few years ago) everyone thought I was skinny. Do you know the formula for working out what the pulse should be during exercise? I have read it somewhere but can't remember where. When I am doing the 2 mile walk video it tells you to check the pulse but it doesn't tell you what it should be.

Gator - How was the birthday dinner? Hope it was a good one and you were able to keep op.

BigO - I am happy to hear you are getting back o.p again. You've done well with quitting the ciggys but it is so easy to gain when you quit so I think you are wise to get back on the wagon as soon as you can before it gets out of hand.

Rhroo - You're becoming the real exercise guru. It's good to see you so enthusiastic. Way to go on the 2.5 lbs off this week. I'm sure you will be down in the 130's very soon. Hope you enjoyed your dancing this evening.

Fillise - Your are right about the pasta. According to Montignac their isn't too much difference in the gi of white or brown pasta. The biggest difference is obtained with the amount of time it is cooked. The less it is cooked the lower the gi.

Debbie - You're a real brave gal getting out there walking when you are in pain. Glad you got your air conditioner fixed. Maybe you can sleep better tonite. That was a gross experience you had at the restaurant. I don't suppose you will be going back there in a hurry. Urgh

Amseraphim - I'll be thinking of you tomorrow. I wish you luck at the races.

Melf - I don't know what a shrimp poboy is but whatever it is I don't think one meal could put you up 4 lbs. Maybe there was something else that contributed to the temporary gain. Anyway glad to hear that you lost it again. I only got to play badminton once this week. Yesterday was a badminton day but I had to work. I was hoping to work Thursday and have Friday off but it didn't work out that way. Hopefully I can go on Monday. That will be the only day for next week as I have to work Wednesday and Friday and they are the days they have the badminton. Too bad I can't take all those days off! I've booked my trip to England. I am going on June 5th for two weeks. I guess it is about the same distance across the ocean as it is to California. The flight is about 7 1/2 hours.

Quilter - Hope you enjoyed your movie tonite. Which movie did you watch? I went out to the movies a couple of days ago and saw Bridget Jones' Diary. That was quite funny. I see you are keeping up with the yoga. Is there much difference in the a.m. and p.m. yoga? I'll have to check out the library again and see what they have. I think they have the a.m. one in their catologue. How are you doing with the lessons? Are the lessons much different to the tapes? If you are thinking of getting a new scale I certainly wouldn't recommend the digital. I had one a few years ago. It was fine until the battery began to run low. I didn't realise there was anything wrong with it until my son came over one day and weighed himself and informed me it was about ten pounds out. The battery was getting low but there was no indication of when the battery should be changed. Anyway, I ditched it and bought a mechanical one.

Garden - Those cookies sounded yummy. Can you get the recipe from your friend and post it on the recipe board?

Beachfan - Glad you had a good day to-day. Thanks for the encouragemnt. I just came across some menus from last August when I lost 8 lbs. Even though they don't seem too much different from what I usually eat I thought maybe I should try following them and see what happens.

Well, I think I should sign off and get ready to hit the sack.

Have agood weekend everyone.

Marie :)

Hi

Hello all-

Excitement is running high this morning. We are busy getting things together and ready for the surprise party for my friend. So many last minute things to do!

I was looking at the menu for the party and I can eat just about everything! We are having Swedish Meatballs (made with WW flour by Pete) stuffed mushrooms (ditto on the WW flour) salami stacks (salami slices with horseradish cream cheese in between and cut into triangles), artichoke dip with triscuits, fruit salad, veggie tray, and little mini sandwiches ( which I will only eat the filling, not the bread, even though it is home made by, you guessed it, Pete!) I'm bringing my own bottled water and I'll be on my way. Store bought cakes don't really appeal to me, so I won't be tempted there.

Many ppl now know about my WOE. I'm sure they'll ask lots of questions today. I'm finally in a place where I don't feel on the spot answering them. Who knows why!

BOB...getting off the cigerettes is such a major step. Good for you. I know you'll get back OP :)

DEB...I just HATE when things around the house break down and you have to spend $$ you weren't planning on. I'm like you, I always say, "It could have been worse!" Hope you find out the culprit that is making the scale go up. You've come so far, I know you won't let this little issue stop you from reaching goal. That Carbolite sure sounds good.

QUILTER...I've been really into exercise for a little while now, which is a complete turn around for me. Which book are you reading right now? I'm reading Jan Karon's latest. Have you ever read her? Simple and quaint and uplifting. I'm so glad to hear you are enjoying yoga. It's amazing how good it is for your body. I can relate to your scale story. It happened to me a couple weeks ago (with the needle being off). Just keep an eye on it before you step on it to see if its on zero. I bought mine at Sam's Club for $27. It seems to be back on track now. I know its an unsettling feeling when you can't trust the scale.

Gatorgal..how did the Italian restaurant turn out? I usually look for a fish dish when I go to a nice restuarant. The problem with Italian rest. for me is the bread, especially if its garlic! I've found most rest. will substitute a starch with extra veggies, which I LOVE (I love that they sub. ...unfortunately I don't really love veggies!).

Welcome back Fruitloupe!

So many people lost some pounds this week. Kudos to you!! Cool.

As usual, sorry I couldn't address everyone.

Have a great weekend! I'll be sure to let you know how the party goes!

Ashley

Happy Saturday Everyone:D

What a gorgeous spring day! The sun is shinning and the birds are singing! Went for walk early this morning and it felt great. I live in a hilly wooded area and there are valleys and creeks all around. It is very nice because you feel like you are hiking in the woods but it is really on a street that you are walking so it is better on your knees and back.

We have a very busy day today. Baseball, yard work etc.

Sparkle: I went to the healthy calculator at www.dietitian.com and put in 5'7". The weight range was 129-149. So 100 and 105 is way too low. It is an unhealthy range.

Rosalie: It is probably smart to go back to the August menus and use those as a guide. Hang in there. At some point the stall will break and you will start dropping again.

Overcome: Your menus made me hungry. Especially the sweedish meatballs. Do you ever read a magazine or like in this case your menu and have to go eat something! Well that happened to me.

Debbie: Have fun today. We have a lot of garage sales in our area but I just never go. I need to start and see what the fun is? My house is one big junk yard! A friend said I should just open up my basement and tell people to come in and get some stuff. I'm still fluctuating between 136-140. I can't seem to break that barrier. I'm not trying too hard because I know it will come.

I have a question for everyone. What has motivated you to be on this WOE? In my case it was health issues and because I was feeling so bad. I would be interested in know what the other motivators are?

See ya'll tomorrow.

Sparkle: I meant to comment on why the boyfriend thinks that is a good weight. I have a 14 year old daughter that is a size 0 or 1. She has always been a good weight for her height and I have never worried about her eating habbits or weight. Well one thing I have seen is that our society promotes the thought that if you are bigger than a 1 you are overweight. Did you see the people magazine that talked about the movie stars who are more "fleshy" and eat what they want. They used Catherine Zeta Jones and Drew Barrymore as examples. Well they were praised for being a size 6 or 8. The average American woman is a size 14. So it is interesting to know that a size 6 or 8 is considered large. No wonder we have these issues with weight. I've told my daughter that she needs to focus on healthy eating and beginning good excercise habits. She weighs only once a month and walks/runs 3 days a week. She also dances. I've told her that the important thing is maintaining a healthy weight. Since she is small boned she is a good weight for her height. She is 5'3" and weighs 110.

Just some food for thought.

Good Saturday Afternoon Everyone!

We just got home from our painting extravaganza! We were up early to be at the site by 8am. It was a family affair and then some, as my nephew joined us. We ended up being part of a team to pain an elementary schools cafeteria and then went on to paint the doors of each classroom-the poor school is in need of much more than we could do, but it was a big improvement on what we did. Others volunteered their time to fixing different homes surrounding the school. So, now we are home and ready to take a nap:dz:

ROSALIE, yes, I definitely won't be going back to that rest. any time soon-it's not one I frequent, just thought I could get a salad and sweet potato for lunch, not a salad, sp and bug! Honestly, when I seem to have pain, it disappears once I start walking, and sometimes returns, sometimes not-if I can bear the pain, I walk, otherwise, I stay home and usually feel lousier than if I'd walked:)

OVERCOME, have a wonderful time at the party, sounds like everything will be delicious and fun.

BEACH, I guess the thing I like about garage sales are finding unusual items, things worth lots more than I buy them for and finding something I really was trying to find. I find great books too-I guess the thrill of coming across something totally unexpected is what I like the most:) What motivated me to start this WOE-just the utmost desire to lose weight and after reading the book having the gut feeling that I could follow this WOE to the T-gosh, I sure was right this time!!!

Time for a deserved nap. I'll check in with you all later. Have a wonderful weekend!
