Hey Gals!

Got home earlier today to find my a/c wasn't working and it was 85 degrees in my house:eek: It finally clicked on and I fell asleep, only to awake sweaty and hot and find it was no longer working and however it clicked on before, it wasn't doing it again-soooo, I sit here not in the best of moods because I HATE being hot! My Mom's a/c man is coming tomorrow sometime-hopefully QUICKLY in the morning. I have a lunch date with my friend Gail and I surely don't want to go sweaty! YUCK!

I can't believe Elizabeth was thrown off Survivor-that pisted me off-hated that Colby won both things too! I think he's going to win the payoff.

FILLISE, CONGRATS on this weeks lost and your great total loss! I hope you and FROG get to meet-if you do, someone PLEASE take a camera!!!! I'd love to see pics!!!

VIV, hope you get your plans straightened out:) Sorry, I haven't read or seen BJ Diary-haven't read more than a cookbook recently-sorry I can't be of some help. I know of some good old books I've read, one I really liked was called THE SELECT by Wilson-another 2 books (1 is a follow up) is called BUTTERFLY and the other is the follow up called STARS-but I warn you, they are a bit sexy:^:

ROSALIE, a quick look at your menus suggest to me that you aren't eating enough calories-which I think was the problem we found before. It's hard to say without exact measurements, but this is what I feel may be a problem. Do you have any idea what amount of calories you are shooting for. I think 1700-1900 is a good area for you, this is 500-700 less than you need to maintain your current weight-I don't think you are eating that much. Your fats may be a bit too high, it's hard to say-on day 6 for instance, the cashews, if they are not dry roasted and are salted, that's about 16 grams of fat in the 1/4 cup. 2 fried eggs gives you approx. 14 grams of fat, 2 slices bacon about 7 grams of fat, milk 4 grams x twice=8grams-the other stuff with the exception of the roast beef & salmon, has a few grams of fat here and there. Just what I listed above has 45 grams. If you were trying to eat 1700 calories, you shouldn't take more than 55 grams of fat in a day. So, with the above 45 grams, add the salmond and roast beef, a couple grams of fat for the bread and your cream-you aren't probably that much over, but definintely more than 55 grams. BUT, I don't think you are eating enough in the calorie dept. -just my 2 cents. Sorry to hear about your bother but glad it wasn't as bad as it may of been. Eli spoke to his sister in Watertown-there's a possibility we may go the week of May 19th, just for 4 days-will keep you informed-will you be around if we do go to meet up?

BEACH, can't there be some jump start with candy, cookies or cake? YOU know I'm just joking, of course:rolleyes: I just don't think I could stomach a whole day of protein, or even veggies for that fact. Fruits, possibly, but boy would I have the runs! So with what foods you have tried that aren't on this WOE, you obviously haven't had any trouble with which is great. As for the sweets, not even SB legal chocolates?? That's amazing that you are continuing to lose with taking in those amount of calories-I can't wait to hit maintenence and then eat the 1500 calories I'm allowed to stay that weight. I had a tummy tuck, and honestly, it really needs to be redone. My Dr. told me NOT to gain weight, and I went and gained 65lbs-so the skin is stretched out. I really need a full body overhaul! Trust me, you aren't the only one who's getting the anorexic compliments, my family is telling me the same crap!! It's such a joke! Keep up the great job Anna, I see how well you are doing and look forward to doing as well one day soon!!!

LISA, have a wonderful time with Ross on the field trip. LOL, yes, I know I can give great advice, but it's easier to give than to recieve:) You know what they say, when the shoe is on the other foot...I'm hanging in there though, I've gone through this before, it's just hard being so close and then going in the other direction-UGH!

HAPPY,WELCOME TO THE BOARD I will e-mail you with some breakfast ideas as it seem most people get into a rut with trying to find foods to eat during this meal. Lunch and dinner should be quite easy-check out our recipe boards.

SPARKLE, Mazola has olive oil spray which is pretty good, but a mister is probably cheaper in the long run.

BIGO, I didn't cry over Elisabeth, more pist than upset, but I did with Rodger. It will be an interesting show next week for sure. Anything new on your end? How's Skeeter liking his smoke-free home?

QUILTER, hey girl, you are doing well on the TM. You can run-I can't-so give yourself credit where credit is due! Glad to see you back to 170, you'll get to the 160's by next WIW, you're doing great!!! Can you imagine, 1 more pound down and you can say you have only 30lbs to go! From that point on, you'll be hitting great miles stones-every 5lbs down is a big deal from that point on!!!!

OVERCOME, only 33 days left of school. What are your summer plans? Hope you have a nice party-I'm sure it's a lot of work, but I'm sure your commitment is always appreciated.

Well gals, time to hit the hay-I'm hot and tired and just praying I can sleep in this heat-it reminds me of Hurricane Andrew when we had no power for 10 days-but just the no a/c part-that's something I never want to have to relive!!!

I'll check in with you all tomorrow-will post my recipes then, sorry, no will to do them now.

Good Evening to all

JUst wanted to say hi to all.

I am so glad that this week is almost over. I have been having such bad days for the past couple of weeks, sometime it is all I can do to not stand there and cry. Anyway tomorrow afternnoon I go on vacation for a week. THis has got to help. I think that my mood has done something to my losing weight.

While I am off next week, I am doing a quick trip to Orlando for a visit with family. I am hoping to have a "little" free time and wondering if anyone knows of a health food store near Disney. It has to be better than the one here in Port Charlotte.

I have been reading the posts, have not mastered the art of reading and responding to posts at the same time. BUt I do want to say that those of you that have lost a great deal of weight- you are the inspiration. I have 120 left to lose- already done 57, and so times I think I will never get there. I try to trake it one day at a time, but it gets so hard. I feel that the scale is my true enemy and I hate it. I have to step on it to keep me in check, and get depressed if I go up. I know that this is normal feeling, but why this along with having to lose the weight.

Well, I wish everyone a great day tomorrow and good day on program. Thanks for listening.

Just a quickie to VIV

Some good books that I have read lately that are light and easy reads:

The Sweet Potato Queens Book of Love - FUNNY! It has a follow-up called God Save the Sweet Potato Queens.

Books by Bill Bryson - A Walk in the Woods - a hilarious account about his true adventures hiking the Applachain Trail. He's also written one that is newer about the Outback in Australia and at least one other that escapes me.

I loved BJ's Diary but have not read the follow-up. What is it called? Want to go see the movie with hubby.

I also enjoy books by Maeve Bincy - she wrote Circle of Friends (there was a movie with Chris O'Donnel and Minnie Driver - not nearly as good as the book!), LIght a Penny Candle, the Silver Wedding, etc. They are sweet stories. ALso good and similar to Maeve is Rosamund Pilcher. She's written Carousel and THe Evening Class, etc.

I also have adult friends who are enjoying the HArry Potter books.

Good Luck!

Frog

Just a quickie

Thanks to everyone who commented on my menu.

Sparkle - I am playing badminton once or twice a week, and walking a mile or two whenever I have the time and the weather is agreeable. I also swim. On average I would say I am exercising three or four times a week.

Lisa - Thanks for the suggestion of skim milk. Maybe I will give it a try and see if it helps.

Deb - I haven't been counting calories lately. For a while I was entering my intake on Fitday.com. Most days I averaged about 1700-1900 calories, sometimes a little more than that. This was in February and I lost 1 pound for the month. When I first started to count calories a few months ago I was doing it on my own which became a little tedious. I was averaging about 1400-1700 by my own calculations which may not have been very accurate. (I think it would have been higher if I had entered it in Fitday) This was the time when I went down 3 lbs. sometime in January and I have only lost another 4 pounds since then. I checked back to my menus last August when I had lost 8 pounds and I can't see too much difference in what I was eating then and now. I don't like to eat any more starchy carbs as I am afraid this will make me gain. Maybe I should start using Fitday again to see how I am doing with the calories. I'd love to meet you if/when you come to visit Eli's sister but the weekend of May 19th is a holiday weekend (Victoria Day) and I am scheduled to work the Sat, Sun and Mon on day shift. I will be off on the Tuesday. Maybe I can meet you at the airport for a coffee before you leave if you have the time unless we can arrange something for Monday after work. Do you think you will be coming in to Toronto or will you be staying in Watertown?

Marie. :)

Good morning !.

Wow you girls have been busy posting. I am impressed.

Okay I knew that Elizabeth was going to be knocked off of Survivior but it still really pissed me off. I really wanted her to win the car. I mean how can anybody beat Colby when he is eating waaaaaay more than the rest. Obviously he is stronger because of it. I was surprised he lost so much weight. Aren't they all skinny.Way to skinny. Their poor bodies.

I weighed in today as I felt thin wow I had lost 3 pounds and was 173. I refuse to post it as my actual weight as I know it will go up. So I will only change my weight on Wednesdays so that I get an accurate reading. But let me tell you how I felt when I saw the number whoooooooo ! I would love to be 174 on Wednesday. Even if a couple of pounds come back it motivated me completely.

I went to house party for crystal, last night. No wine! I had no wine! That was a complete success for me. Thank goodness the hostess had out some cheese and veggies and dip. I was happy when I came home though $54 dollars poorer.

My co-worker who bakes is briniging me in some Sugar Busters Legal Cookies that she made for me .Can you beleive it. I have converted her so she is doing it as well. I haven't tried them yet but she says they are pretty good. No Sugar peanut butter, egg, splenda and butter. So I am anxioulsy awaiting to try one!

Big Orange Babe: I agree Elizabeth, the rest of the group new she had chance for the money. I think Tina is going to win.

Anna: People are funny. As you start to lose weight they are happy for you, then once you have lost more than they ever though you could or would( because they figured we would fail again) they try to make you feel bad ! We are a weird species.!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My neighbour lost a lot of weight and had her tummy tucked two weeks ago. She looks great and is very happy with the results, though she is still a little sore.

Chris: You will be able to run soon! Just stay on track with the food and start to feel better.

Lamap : You already have done so well before you know it you will be closer and closer to your goal.

Quilter good work with the pound. Won't it be nice to see 169. I am sure you will be doing the happy dance.

Deb you are such a great motivator for us all. We all know you will be at goal long before summer is here. Keep going girl you are doing WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway I should go.

Talk to you all soon

Hey Ladies! I'm back!! I know that many of you here have no idea who I am - but I was around a lot last year and then fell off the SB wagon!! UGH - Gals - I've gained almost 30 pounds back that I had lost. SO, I wrote Deb yesterday and begged to come back to the board. It seems that I did best when I was with you ladies on a daily basis. Not to blame anything for my weight gain - but you know the emotional eater that I am - and I guess that last miscarriage really threw me for a loop. Didn't care much about anything, depressed, so EAT and DRINK of course! So, I'm back and ready to start all over. Today is a brand new day! So, all of my SEC buddies that are out there - give me a yell - and - thanks again Deb for the encouraging words. Also - this board has changed so much that I hope I did this right! HAHA! Talk to you later!

I got my inspiration back and I'm feeling a lot better! Thanks for all the support, it's been rough but it's over and now it's back to healthy living! I actually started not wanting to cheat and found that reminding myself that I'm bigger than junk food seemed to have kicked me back into a positive mode. Also, my girlfriend has ben inspired to start SB and I have introduced her to our board with the hopes she will join us.

It's already after 6, I've been on line all morning reading sb/sf stuff, reinspiring myself. Regardless of the weightloss, I feel better and so much more in control when I'm off sweets and junk food in general. As a former hypoglycemic I recognize that my moods definitely are affected by what I but in my mouth.

Again thanks to all. I down loaded all 62 pages to word, so I can catch up on yesterday's posts.

Have a FANTASTIC Friday!

Just have a minute to say HI! I have been busy with work, and sleep! I hate working nights but have been blessed with never having to get daycare for any of my 3 children and a very flexable boss who lets me take time for sports at night and so on!!!! I jumped back into bed this a.m instead of excersising -BAD ME! I have to miss all the Over Time at work tomorrow (opening day of baseball for the middle child) so i wil go tomorrow for a walk or do one of these awsome Firm tapes (i think they helped with the 2.5 lbs this week!) I am also planning on dancing tomorrow night when hubby plays (who knows my little one might throw a bike ride in there too) i am tired just thinking about it! Well when ever i get to it that will make 5 days this week and i like that!! I can't tell you girls enough that excersise is a major factor in this journey-not only for weight loss but for health! even if you only have a half hour to do it you should EVERY day (if your doing 30 min) Try to make it fun there should be NO excuses! lol I went to the thrift store yesterday and got 3 pairs of shorts (one Old Navy) for 5 bucks! i am up to 6 pair now (all 8 and one 6!) well the woman there said to me "you have lost alot of weight-how did you do it" i went on the excersise speech she said "i can't excersise" i said why" she said "i am to old" what an excuse! anyway just had to tell you all i am alive.

Thanks for all the nice posts wish i had a minute to reply to you all i am trying to think off the top of my head what i just read!!!

Good Friday Morning!

It is a gorgeous day here is east central alabama!

I've been up early this morning making a big pot of spaghetti sauce. I promised to take baked ziti to a luncheon today, plus I have asveral friends who have just had are about to have babies and I'm stocking their freezers with lasagnes. I, of course, have WW pasta for the stuff I keep for me--but I don't really sweat pasta. I eat WW when I can, but I've read some stuff that seems to suggest that pasta is not the worst starch one could consume (Deb--don't you have something about this on the reading list?).

Gator--going to an eye-talian restaurant should be ok. If you don't want to go with their pasta, try a nice veal or fish dish. Any good Italian restaurant should have both on the menu--leave the bread alone though!

Laurie--57 pound is great--take satisfaction from what you have accomplished! I find it easier to break my weight loss down into a series of small goals. You are 3 pounds away from losing 1/3 of your goal weight! Yippee! At 70 pounds you will have lost 20% of your starting body weight. Yippee! Yippee! Around 90 you'll be halfway there! WOOOO HOOO! And so on! You've accomplished a lot already--keep your focus on the positive!

Missy--Welcome back! I wasn't here when you were, but I can assure you that we'll be here for you now! This board is great!

Orange--OK so you gained a little weight. How many years do you think you have added to your life by giving up the ciggies? I think the small setback is worth it and we will help you get recommitted to being OP again. I have no doubt that you can do it. Besides you don't want us Auburn gals to have to come down there and kick your UT butt do you??????

Time to go stir the sauce. I hope everyone has a good day!!!

Hey SB gang!

Been reading thru the posts quickly these days and haven't had a chance to post much but I'm still here lurking and getting ideas!

I am really encouraged by all the great losses you gals are having!

I am so proud of RodeoMom losing 10 lbs in 4 weeks! AWESOME!

I came across this article this morning and thought it was interesting. I really thought this Dr would probably endorse the Sugarbusters WOE and thought yall might enjoy getting to read it too: it is at

Hope everybody has a great weekend!

Debelli 04-27-2001 11:39 AM

Good Friday Morning Everyone!

Didn't sleep so good last night, a bit too warm for me and must of somehow pulled something in my calf muscle, like a light charley horse. BUT, between these two things, I still went out and walked 3.5miles:)

Waiting for the a/c guy to come, not sure when he's going to show up-but it better not be when I am going out to lunch, he'll just have to make it later then.

I think I may have found the culprit to my recent upswing. I think it's too much of a good thing, the Carbolite. I'm totally hooked on this and been having it too many times a week, whereas it was only once a week before. I think it's the maltodextrin/Splenda that may be doing it. I remember when I made the PB PIE many months ago and ate the whole thing, even though it was SB Legal, it was too much in one sitting to eat-too much Splenda. Sooo, with this I am going to again limit myself to once/twice a week with the Carbolite. It may not have anything to do with my ups and downs. I just may be up again due to my TOM, in which case, I should be on my way back down soon-I guess it's just a wait and see attitude I must take at this point.

LAMAP, hope things settle down for you, glad to hear you are getting a much needed vacation. Are you planning on going anywhere besides Orlando? I think SOLSHINE or GATORGAL can help you find a good HFS, but I do know that Chamberlains and Wild Oats are there. There was another one Barb and I hit when we were there, but I can't remember the name of it, small, but good. Not sure what they would have that you don't have locally. I would think that they'd have a few good ones closer to you in Tampa. As for the weight, I think we ALL think we will never get there as we inch towards getting there. Of course, the more to lose, the farther away it is, but trust me, the time goes by quickly and before you realize it, you are getting closer to goal. Like I've always said, patience is one of the main keys to being successful on this WOE. Some days that scale is my enemy too, whereas others, it's my best friend.

ROSALIE, try using the fitday.com site again-it can't hurt. I personally find it easier to write things down as I go in a little notebook. I eat mostly the same stuff, so it's easy to refer back to past pages for information. I'll let you know more about the trip as things progress. Eli mentioned leaving on a Friday night flight and returning back to Miami on a Tuesday night. We'd be staying in Watertown, but I'm sure a trip to Toronto at sometime would be in the works-I'd want to go shopping somewhere for sure-will keep you posted. Oh yes, the green tea I mentioned is in a Mandarin Orange flavour.

GARDEN, CONGRATS, another 3lbs down-that's great! Just do whatever you are doing and if the scale goes up a bit, don't worry about it, it happens, I can tell you from experience. Where abouts in Canada are you? Near Toronto? I know Toronto, I know Montreal-but that's the extent of my Canadian knowledge! Congrats on foregoing the wine last night-weren't you proud of yourself! ?! See how you were rewarded on the scale today!!! Please let us know how those cookies are when you try them-I love PB cookies!!!

FRUIT, WELCOME BACK TO THE BOARD! Glad to see you got back on-you know we're all here to help you and I know you've done well before. Just get back on the wagon and stay focused-be active on the board and do SB 100%-no drinking on the weekends girlfriend-this doesn't help in any way-just ask for the help and we'll all be there to lend you a hand, or a sympathetic ear:)

LDBLOND, glad to have you back with such a positive attitude! Definitely have your friend join us, the more the merrier! It's great when you have someone close by that you can talk to about this WOE! Of course, we all don't have that wonderful possibility, which is why this board is so wonderful for all of us-you've got the best of both worlds now!!!! My gosh, it's 62 pages long??????? WOW!

BOB, you know how I'd rag on you about gaining 8.5lbs, but not with your position of quitting smoking-I'd give you the longest rope before I threw it around your neck and hung you with it!!! BUT, now it's about time to get back on the ball before you gain any more. If you don't, you'll turn around and say 10lbs up and then some-that's what happened to me when I started gaining, and before I turned around, I stopped counting at 20lbs-and found I had gained 65!:eek: Just remember how good you were feeling-now you will feel doubley good, losing weight and not smoking!!! {{{HUGS}}}

RHROO, thanks for asking about Lauren. Starbucks wasn't kid friendly yesterday, so she ended up spending the day with me and going to lunch with me as well-Eli wasn't happy about their decision not to allow the kids to come, but he couldn't go against his DM's words. Maybe they'll change for next year. Yes, plain gelatin is fine-unless you are a vegetarian!!!

FILLISE, I do have some info on pastas on the FOOD INFORMATION BOARD. I think pasta is good and filling, but personally, I'm not big on it. I'm not a huge carb lover, I like the sweets much more. Just have to watch out for portions. I was reading an article in one of my magazines and they mentioned the Olive Garden and how their serving of spaghetti is equivalent to 10 servings of pasta for the average person!!!!

Well, I'm gonna fly. The a/c guy called and is on his way, so he should be here soon. Going to lunch with Gail and then will be home for most of the evening-Eli works tonight, so no big plans.

I'll check in with you all later!!

FRIDAY

Don't the weeks just seem to fly by???? Over all, it sounds like everyone is in good standing. Those of us that tend to struggle seem to be rolling with the punches, which is better than punching ourselves out:lol: I am feeling good that I have gotten on the TM 3 days so far this week....and the week ain't over yet!!!! I have been spending alot of time in the yard/garden. I am working on a flower bed at this time. Peeked in on my garden this morning.....AND something has snapped 2 of my mater bushes in 2:eek:  I am going to buy a BIG supply of cayenne pepper. Ladies, please keep DH and I in your prayers and thoughts for tomorrow. We are going racing again. We are headed for Douglas, GA - not far, 2-2 1/2 hrs away. We will be in the motorhome, which makes traveling comfy;) I will let you all know how things turn out.

Keep up all the great work all of you are doing. Let's all keep focused on what this WOE is all about.....TAKING BETTER CARE OF OURSELVES Have a great day, and an EVEN BETTER WEEKEND!!!!!!

Melf---- Thanks for the the email you sent that had this darling angel in it!!!

cathycathy 04-27-2001 12:24 PM

Ok deb - I have a quick question?

Is Splenda legal on Sugarbusters? Please tell me it is!!! I thought it was until I just saw where you wrote "too much Splenda". Do you find having too much Splenda messes you up? I'm just wondering because I'm not losing any weight and I am probably using about 12 little packets a day (3 in each cup of my green tea (3) and 3 in my water with lemon). Is this way too much?

Does anybody else have any feelings on Splenda? I love the taste - just like sugar and no after taste!

cathy

fruitloupe 04-27-2001 03:18 PM

Good Afternoon ladies!!

All I can say is that all of the fancy stuff this board has is gonna kill my little ole dinosaur computer! It was taking me forever to move around the site this morning. I'm at work right now - planning time hour of course - so I've been lurking around to see all of the fancy stuff! I may have to wait to get on the board until I'm at school - this computer is much faster. In the summer it won't matter because I'll have all the time in the world! :smug:

BOB: HEY!!!!!!! :D So great to hear from you!! Glad to hear that you quit :smoking: I know that is very hard for you to do. I know many people that have tried and gained weight because of it. But, we can do this - we are awesome! I'm just glad to see my friends again. I just hope that I don't have too much trouble with this site on my computer!

DEB: Glad to be back my friend! Can't wait to get to know everyone that is new since I left. I just love you ladies! I'll have to get my bio back on the board. I'll do that ASAP. Right now - I have to actually get some of my planning done before my students get back from PE!

Well, ladies, I'll try to write back tonight. I have a float meeting (I ride in Mardi Gras and we have a meeting with all of the ladies that are on my float) tonight and we are going out to eat. I've already planned to have a salad and I'm bringing my SB French dressing! So, I'll talk to y'all as soon as I can.
