GOOD MONDAY MORNING EVERYONE!

Will post my usual morning post sometime later, but wanted to make sure I got our
MOTIVATIONAL MONDAY
done early in the morning, so here's my contribution for MM, there's 2 of them to read today-both very good, but the first one, OMG, it was written for me!

BUCK THE TREND

When things are looking bad, start looking for what is good. Because that is when you can use it most. When you're feeling really lousy, start acting like you're feeling great. And soon it will be true.

If everyone is busy complaining, get yourself busy offering genuine compliments and encouragement. And see what a positive difference you can make.

When the situation is at its worst, that's a great time for you to be at your best. For it puts you in a position to create enormous value. If everything around you is going in the wrong direction, then there's clearly something you can do. Move boldly and confidently the other way.

When the trend is negative, that sets up one of the best opportunities you'll ever see. Buck the trend, turn it around, and the rewards can be immense

.-- Ralph Marston
************************

KNOW WHY

Most likely, you have a good idea of what you would like to do, and what you would like to accomplish. Do you know why? Behind every desire is a reason, and behind every reason is a purpose. Connect your desire with its deepest underlying purpose, and you'll connect with the strength necessary to achieve that desire.

Achievement requires much effort and commitment, time, energy, and persistence. You're absolutely capable of all that and more, when there's a real, meaningful purpose to what you're doing. But without a clear purpose, you're likely to become discouraged, bored, or frustrated into giving up. By contrast, with a strong, driving purpose behind your efforts you'll find a way to work through any challenge.

There is much you can learn from your dreams and desires, even before you begin to reach for them. Understand the reasons and the purpose behind those dreams, and you will gain a better understanding of who you are.

The more you know about yourself and about what drives you, the more effective every effort and every moment will become. Know why, and the road to your dreams will unfold with every step you take.

-- Ralph Marston

Have a wonderful day, and a fabulous week!!!!!

Goodmorning. I havent post much lately. I have been o/p but in my own way. Way to much bread and starch. I look and feel bloated. tmi is on the way also so that dont help.
I loved the second mm. I seem to have lost my purpose for my desire. Im going to work on that. The first 8 weeks were so easy for me. The last few have been disastrious.
I barely skimmed through the post so this isnt very personal. Although it was great to see monet post.
Im getting tired of posting the bad eating ive been doing as im sure yall are tired of hearing it so im gonna find my purpose again and keep on keeping on.

Hi everyone!

Let's see... I got some tortilla wrap thingys from the store over the weekend, but haven't tried them yet. I was thinking I could make my own little pizza when we have pizza night on Weds.

Other than that, I've been boringly OP. Not that being OP is bad but it is frustrating when the scale hasn't moved for 3 weeks.

I also ordered The Firm BSS2 from their website. I've heard rave reviews from those that use the videos, so thought I'd give it a try.

I did manage to get a few 20 minute walks in last week, so it's a start. I'm working up to the "Couch to 5K" program again. I want to run a 5K by my 35th birthday in September.

Evelyn is doing well. She gets her 2 month checkup and her first shots at the doctor tomorrow. I am not looking forward to that, as I think she'll be uber-fussy the rest of the day and I have class on Tuesday nights.

Well, back to work and my cup of coffee.

Good morning:

I have all the windows open; it is a beautiful morning. It is going to start getting warm this week though....high 80's low 90's.

Lane was up all night coughing. It is so hard to sleep when they are having a hard time. I gave her some decongestent, rubbed some vapor rub on her chest, and turned on the vaporizer. She finally fell asleep with minimal coughing around 2 a.m. So, I have no idea what my "workout" schedule holds for me this week. I think I may go tomorrow evening when DH gets home since I am on spring break from school. I then can go Wed. a.m, & Sat. a.m. That will be 3 days; I really like to get 4 in, but have to take what I can get.

We have a damn woodpecker that wakes me up every morning pecking on our chimney. I'm not sure what to do about it, but it is really starting to annoy me, especially since it is getting lighter earlier now. My DH suggested a pretend owl, but I don't think those even really work for pigeons.

I went to the gym on Saturday a.m., and then over to my parents house. I spent the morning with them and then we went to lunch at Chick-Fil-A. We had a lot of fun. On my way home from there, I stopped at Coldstone Creamery to try their sugar-free ice cream (made with Splenda). They only have one flavor (sweet cream), and you can mix in whatever you want. I had almonds & blueberries mixed in....OH MY GAWD.....I felt like I died and went to heaven....It was delicious!!! I will definately allow myself that indulgence again sometime down the road.

I ate too much this weekend, as always. We made those chocolate nut clusters, which I ate about 4-5 of. We then made some cinnamon roll-up things for Britt (they are wheat & gluten free), that we filled with different fillings & rolled up and baked. They turned out surprisingly good. I ate two of those, and a few other things I shouldn't have, but I'll rebound this week; I usually do.

I bought Britt some "fudge" called Oh, Fudge. It is a concoction of fruit concentrates & cocoa; no added sugar...all natural. It tastes so good! I can eat it by the spoonfuls, but won't. I put it on top of her Rice Dream Ice Cream, and it is a real treat for her. I think it would be great for dipping strawberries.

Alright, enough about me.

Jack-K: I don't think you can ever totally mentally prepare yourself for chemo, but hopefully you can get in there and get it done, and move on with the rest of your life, and not have to worry about ever having to do it again!! I hope your DH's blood clot continues to improve, and they don't have to do anything too invasive. My niece turns 21 next month, and wants to go to Vegas. She has been many times in the past, but has never been able to gamble.

Teensy: Glad to hear that Brandt is doing well; I hope the incision heals up soon. Sounds like the dogs had a great time getting out!

BOB: A baby that age makes their own schedule . They have to eat often, and then they poop it right out, so when you're not feeding them you are changing them. The first 4-6 weeks seem to be a blur, I was so sleep-deprived. My girls both started sleeping through the night within the first two months, but there are many that don't start sleeping through the night until they are over a year old. I think that boy is big enough that he should start sleeping through the night early on, since he won't have to wake up and eat as often as a smaller baby would. I'm sure you can't wait to hold and cuddle him.

Monet: Good to hear from you. Glad you are enjoying Curves, and that you finally quit that job. Now, you can take the time you need to take care of Monet.

Vmoore: We've all been there, and done that, and sometimes it helps to vent here. You can post anything anytime, we are happy to read about your accomplishments & set-backs. That is what a "support" group is for. Good luck getting back on track. Remember how great you feel when you are eating right.

JenninMn (aka Nuttles Mom): It breaks your heart to hear your baby cry when they get those shots, but it is over quicky...and they recover quicky too. My children never had a bad day after a shot. They would seem to be back to their old selves right when we left the office.....I wish the same for your DD. Good luck; it's tougher on the parents!

I gotta get to Sprouts today to get the stuff to make Country's lasagne; I signed up for Meal support and have to bring a meal to a new mom (just had a baby last week), and her family.

Better get a move on.

Have a great day.

Take care,
Nat

Hey all! I thought I'd pop in here to tell everyone I hope they have a good OP week!

Yesterday I did my annual spagheti luncheon for the youth at my church. I cooked for 200!!! Fortunately I had some very able assistants and the event was a success--in fact the fellowship hall was packed. I don't know how much money they rasied, but I suspect that they did quite well.

When got home I could barely move--and today my knees and back are stiff. I guess that comes from 6 hours standing/bending on cement floors!!!!

Nat--I'm so sorry to hear about your DGF.

BOB--Glad you and your SIL had some quality time--I know you are loving having that baby close enough to seriously spoil!!!!!!

Monet--Well, I heard about the low-sugar doughnuts and just had to see if it was true. I'll beleive it when I see it.

Jackie--We can't be doing chemo the week of the Derby--no, no, I understand that completely!!!! I'll be thinking about you on the 25th--and beyond!

Sef--Hey there!

Heart--Really, the hardest part, IS reprogramming our heads!!!!!

Everyone else--have a great OP week--I'll try to pop in when I can.

Default Long post Oprah and More...

Where to begin, it's been a bumpy couple of weeks! Last you saw of me I was packing for Hollywood! Mom won tickets to the Oprah Live Show - Oscar Bash. We got up there the night of the Oscars and discovered the hotel wasn't quite as advertised. I think Mom was upset because she really was trying to make it a special weekend and thought we were staying at some really posh hotel. The place we stayed was clean and neat but very industrially designed (which Mom doesn't like) and for what whe payed, it really was just a room with no frills. But like I told her it was clean and gave us a place to sleep where we didn't have to worry about roaches or the rowdy next door couple. Not that we slept much as we got up around 3AM to get to check-in on time. We arrived at the parking garage around 4AM and found that there were already hundreds of women there! A Oprah coordinator was calling for winners and when Mom identified herself and we were quickly escorted to a very short line and then promptly sent to load on a bus. When we arrived at Kodak theatre we sat 10 rows back centered right in front of Oprah and her guests! Julia Roberts and Cuba Gooding, Jr. and Issac something or other that is a designer. The best part of the show was what you didn't get to see - Julia and Oprah spent time talking with us and revealed their true persona a little rather than the TV one. Everything was done by 9am and we were back on a bus to our car by 9:30. Mom took me on a tour of some of LA that she lived in. We drank coffee in Magic Johnson's StarBucks and got home around 2pm - totally exhausted. Did I mention I had a migrane the whole trip. It was totally fantastic to see my mom so happy! It will always be one of my very best memories with her.

I was back in Beverly Hills on Wednesday to have a Rheumitoligist (sp?) check me for Worker's Comp. By then my RSD had really flared and it's now regressing almost to the place it was when I was initially injured. Mostly I'm losing my shoulder. boo...hoo....ok I'm not going to go there today. I have to keep my chin up on this one.

My son's asthma has reared it's ugly head, stimulated by a long term cough and allergies we landed in ER a few nights ago, but the respitory distress had subsided. By midnight he was better and the nurse told me he wouldn't be seen until morning, so I took him home and he's been on steroids and 6 treatments a day since. My middle child, a daughter of 7, is still struggling according to her teacher and will be tested for problems with motor skills. My oldest, is doing well except for a flucuation in her asthma for the past week. It's allergy season so what else should I expect?!

My DH started SB on Friday to my delight and amazement. He has 50+ to lose and I never have known him when he wasn't heavier, so I'm hoping this will be a successful journey for him. I love him so much, I don't ever want to lose him, especially to a disease that is caused by his weight.

I will weigh officially tomorrow. I've been on and off in my eating, but mostly on. I'm hoping to be under 170, but not looking for anything specatacular. It really helps to have my DH on the same plan, becuase we share are ups and downs with no judgement.

It's time to get the kids off to school and me off to another WC appt. Have a wonderful Monday. It's good to be back with all of you.

Hi Everyone!!! It has been a while since I have been able to get on the computer, being that mine is still broken and no one has come to replace it. My eating has been off track and I am used to doing fitday online and have not been able to get on that site either. I really think that is why I am failing in the eating department. Lack of support and accountability....I am hoping to go and read last weeks posts if the secretary doesn't kick me off her computer soon. I am still very excited about being an aunt and have been spoiling the embryo (haha) , buying everything in sight. I guess the baby doesn't really need real Beatrix Potter china, but I don't want my little niece or nephew eating out of anything else. I have just gone a little overboard!

ldblonde- Hope your kids are feeling better soon. Your trip to the Oprah show still sounds like a good time, despite the headaches...literally and figuratively.

Fillise- 200 people??? That is incredible. Hope it was a success. At least all that standing and bending counts for exercise!

Pancho- Reading your post made me so hungry I was salivating like Pavlov's dog!!! Sorry to hear that Lane is still not feeling well. How are you doing in school? Aren't you studying nutrition?

Nuttles- That baby is absolutely adorable. I don't think I have had the chance to "meet" you yet, so WELCOME!!! I am looking forward to getting to know you on the board!!!

Vmoore- Hang in there and get back on track. The first few weeks were easy for me too. The challenge has been in maintaining it as a lifestyle. Best of luck to you!!

To all you other fabulous ladies, Have a great day!!!--Ashley

Sorry, but this us a driveby.

Went to surgeon today to explain the port procedure. Again, all the horrible things that can go wrong. Theya r going to do it at 4:30 tomorrow and I can't eat after midnight. So I'm stressed out, nothing here illegal or legal to eat. Feel like I need to eat up until midnight to combat not eating tomorrow. That is the thinking of a fat person. A thin person would so oh well and make it fine. I will be thinking about food all damn day.

Here I was so determined to be back op 100% today. Guess I don't have a choice since there's nothing here to eat.

Monet, I'm so glad you are back. I have missed you so.

Pancho, Hope you get to the gym some how. Hope Lane feels better soon. That ice cream sounds delish. I love the Carbolite that Deb talks about too.

Fillise, I knew you would understand about Derby Week!

Ldblond, So glad you had a nice time at the Oprah show. How exciting. Sorry to hear that your RDS is bad again. Hope they can get you the treatment you need. Hope the kids get better too. When it rains it pours. Take care

Ashley, ok stop this nonsense. I need your role model to get myself back on track. My kids have that pottery. But I nerver let them eat off it. Just for looks I guess.

Jenn, evelyn is just too cute. I could just pinch her. Good going on getting exercise in. That will really help.

DH called and is on the way. We are going to walk. Then a friend called and invited us out for pizza. We will probably pass as we had it last night.

Probably won't be on tomorrow at all. Talk to you all Wed I hope.

Cheryl,

went back and red yesterday's post and saw your question.

My first 4 treatments are something call A/C which includes the cytoxen. The next four are taxel. One of the studies deleted the cytoxen. I understand it is toxicto your soft membranes. Fun!

Good afternoon all--

It is cold, windy and miserable today. I decided not to walk the dogs, due to the weather, and the fact that Bazal's hips are bothering him today. Maybe too much walking yesterday?? I am hoping to hike up the hill for a bit still. I think I will occupy the dogs with their dinner and sneak out while they are busy eating.

Dh and I went out and raked some more in the yard. He used the power rake, and I used the old fashion kind. My shoulders sure feel it. I am having trouble raking for very long due to the muscles I have pulled in the left shoulder. So, guess this is going to take me alot longer than I had planned. Need to get out and play "Pooper Scooper" again too. That job just never ends!!

My Mom's John Deere Rototiller is not working, so we will be heading over there in the morning to see if dh can fix it. If not, we will haul it into the dealer to be fixed. We plant 40 tomato plants, potatoes, and my spaghetti squash at her place. Can't believe we still plant all those spuds, and I haven't eaten any for 3 years!! But they are nice to give to the family in the fall. They sure appreciate them. And the spaghetti squash is a must.....it lasts all winter once it is ripe and stored in the store room.

Here are a few replies........

V-- We have all been there.....catch your breath, and let's get going!! I need to recommit too. I have 8 very stubborn pounds that just don't want to leave. But like you, I am not trying as hard as I did for the first 112!! I really need to get on the ball!

Jenn- It is so good to have you, and sweet Evelyn back. Even though we hadn't seen her when you departed, she was still there. She sure is a beauty!!

Pancho-- Those goodies sound yummy!! I might have a hard time if I had those around me. I had to quit making even the legal treats. They just kept calling to me. Sorry that the little one is down again. And please except my condolences on the death of your DGF.

Fillise-- Good for you. I bet you raised a ton of money. I love spaghetti. That is the one thing my youngest son Bill always asks me to make for him when he is home.

ld-- Wow, you have had a lot on your plate. Glad that you were able to enjoy the time spent with your Mom. (((Hugs))) to your sweet children that are suffering right now. I have never had asthma, but have had a lot of allergy problems in the past. Hang in there.

JackieO-- Isn't it amazing what using fitday does for us. I enter all of my foods, M- F. I will also do the weekends if I have been able to get accurate measurements on my foods at my Mom's. If not, then I wait and start again on Monday. That doesn't mean that I eat off plan......just don't use fitday on those 2 days. Go ahead and spoil that little one, you will be a favorite Auntie!!

That's all folks.........

Default Monday evening

Hi all - Just got in from paint class. It was good, but it is getting very cold out. They are predicting a snow storm for tomorrow (no that is not a typo). Probably about 6 - 8 inches. Now we all know that I am a true New Englander and love the change of seasons, but it is time to change. I am ready for spring. My daffodils are poking through the ground and the kids have started baseball. Snow?

Eating was better today than over the weekend. I'm getting in this nasty habit of a bite here and a bite there. Not good - but today was better.

Few replies before I climb in . . .

BOB: Glad things are going well with the new nephew. I envy you and your "clean" yard . . . Have fun planting.

Teensy: I need to rake also. My backyard if full of dead leaves, but with the snow coming tomorrow, it will have to wait. Don't you miss those spuds? I do!

JACKK: I went with my MIL when she had her port put in. It wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. Unless you are like me and are a stress eater, you probably won't even think about food. I hope all goes well - I'll be thinking about you as the day goes on.

JACKIeO: Congrats on being a new auntie. You won't be spoiling this child at all, will you? - just kidding. First children are always spoiled. I know because I had the first nephew/grandchild. Enjoy it - it goes by very, very fast.

IDBLOND: Glad you had fun at the Oprah show. What a great time to spend with your Mom!

FILLESE: 200 people? God bless you. I hope you had a lot of help!

PANCHO: Sorry that Lane is still sick. Does she have any kind of infection? Ear, throat, etc. or just a really nasty cold? Hope she gets better soon.

NUTTLE'S: I have a ww tortilla pizza at least once a week. Usually when my DH is working and the kids want something that I can't eat. I usually put broccoli or onions or peppers on it - just for variety.

VMOORE: Hang in there. Remember, it is a WOE, not a diet. I know how frustrating a non-moving scale can be, but eventually it will move. Keep your chin up - it will get better.

MONET: Good to hear from you. Curves sounds like such a great place - I have heard many people say how wonderful it is. I'm glad that you are enjoying it.

CHERYLCO: Thanks for the comments on the picture. Finally learning things in school that I can do Hope all is well with you and DD.

Okay - time for bed. Home all day tomorrow so will try and jump on between Relay stuff, homework and general house cleaning.

Hi everyone,
Sorry I've been MIA. Still struggling with exactly how to eat that is not going to mess up my health. I found out that when I did not get enough fiber I had some problems, but then when I add it, generally I get too many calories and put on weight. I had an appt. with my regular internist yesterday just for a consultation, to get questions answered, review blood test results, etc. My cholesterol is way down since he put me on one of the statins, but then you have to make sure your liver is not damaged. Drugs! Anyway, he gave me a referral to a nutritionist/dietician who works out of one of the big hospitals here. I see her next Monday morning. I was down in the 160s but have added a few pounds and am now at 170.

I had spring break this past week and so had no classes out at the university. It was nice to just vedge. I didn't even think about French. Class starts back again for me today, so am back on my frantic schedule again. I have a big project coming up the first week of April, where I have a 30 minute presentation on the movie "À la Folie--Pas du Tout!" In English, the movie was "He Loves Me--He Loves Me Not" but the movie was still in French with english subtitles. BOB, it's a good movie, with a twist. Reminded me of "The Sixth Sense," but this is a romantic thriller.

BOB, I noticed your political proselytism on your thumbnails. I have refrained from any comments because I have wanted to keep to the subject--Sugar Busters and weight loss, and it's effect on our lives. However, perhaps I could find some anti-Kerry jpegs and post them, and begin a discussion about how Kerry and his party foments class warfare in the US, why we will be at greater risk for another terrorist attack with him as our leader, etc. etc. etc. Maybe we could find a board on politics and debate there. I love to debate and can actually make some cogent, pursuasive, compelling, and intelligent arguments for my point of view. I bet the two of us could really spice up some political board somewhere. They wouldn't know what hit them when we two bodacious babes get there!!

Jack-K--Hang in there with the chemo. We're praying for you and keeping you in our thoughts. Many women have been on this journey before you, and they have been victorious. So we are rooting for you. I'm sad that this is the "hand that you've been dealt." I have been dealing with a few health issues this past 4 weeks, and have felt punky and even mad at my body. But my problems are minor compared to having to have chemo. So I'm one of your cheerleaders and am letting your positive attitude make a difference in my own outlook. I just want to let you know that your challenge and the way you are handling it is actually having a positive effect on at least one person--me. God bless you.

Monet--Welcome back. I've missed you. Although I was MIA, too. I was lurking, but just didn't feel like posting. I was just going through a tiny "down time" emotionally, I guess. Now when I go by the Publix bakery and see all those decorated cakes, I'll think about you not decorating them any more. How have your blood tests been lately. I go to my holistic doctor this Friday to see how my thyroid levels are. She still has me on Thyrolar, but that med is now very hard to get. Something about the manufacturer getting some paper signed by the government. So, it's back-ordered until September. It was doing just fine for me, but I guess I'll have to change meds now. She may put me on Armour until the Thyrolar comes back.

Well, it's 8 am. and I need to get ready to go to class. I was up late last night getting things organized for a Power Point presentation that I will be using for my French project. Only 2 months until I go to Paris. Hmmm. I'm getting just a little nervous.

Angry

Hello everyone. Its kind of a sucky day for me. Its drizzling rain outside which makes it yucky. My car is at the shop with a leak in the intake manifold so since they have to tear it all apart they are going to replace the water pump also. This is about $550 I had a transmission flush last week for $75. The carpenter is here today also to replace some siding on the house that has gone bad and a couple of facia boards that have started rotting. He wants $125 and then we have to buy all the wood. I also ordered my cabinet doors for the kitchen that got damaged when the hose on the ice maker busted. $103 for 2 cabinet doors!!! Not to mention my daughters prom is next month and we just bought her dress for $150!! So needless to say life SUCKS right now.
And its that time of the month so im not handling it well at all

enough of my sob stories.
