Wed evening.
UH-Oh Belle almost got a sibling this afternoon.
There was the sweetest kitten in the parking lot of the church. I picked her up and she snuggled and loved on me. She was obviously used to affection. We gave her some water and then one of the college students got a turkey sandwich out of his backpack and started feeding her. She seemed very hungry. I think they are going to lobby to have a PSF kitty (Presbyterian Student Feline for the Presbyterian Student Fellowship). The new student center opens next week and there are four apartments in the center--I think a kitten would be great for the students! But you know I'll bring her home before I let her go back on the street or to the animal shelter. Belle will have a fit! I hope the students can keep her. Tough day work wise--one of my candidates is being very hyper and no letting her staff do their jobs--aarrgghh! I'm going to have to have a talk with her. Food is ok today. Made a huge salad for lunch with 6 oz chicken as the protein. Held me for a long time but now I'm hungry--of course it is 10 till 6 here so I should eat supper! Jack-K I think the 3 oz recommended serving for protein is for a low-fat, low-protein diet. We have to up our protein intake because it is the protein that makes the glycogen that turns stored fat into energy. But left to my own devices I could easily consume 10, 12 or even 16 oz of protein in one sitting. So I'm thinking 6 - 8 oz is more reasonable. VIV--I've not seen the hot mommies infomercial. But what I want to know is whether there is anything out here that will bring on menopause--short of surgery. I've been dealing with TOM for well over 30 years--and have nothing to show for it. So I'm ready for it to go away. So ready. Serene--good to see you back on the board! I hope the Dr. finds out what the problem is. Gyno problems are no fun--beleive me I know (see above). Mel--You've done so great! Your body may have reached it's goal! I know you reached yours. Have you seen the Sept. More magazine. There is a picture of Jamie Lee Curtis as she "really" is and then it talks about all they have to do to make her glamorous. So I think the big secret is that underneath it all we all have our bumps and lumps. You've done great with both the weight and the body fat so I think you should give yourself credit! OK--who asked about the scuppernongs? They are a type of grape that is native to the American south. The skin in inedible so you suck the fruit out of the skin--it is at once tart and sweet. There's nothing else like them. They are also called muscadines (really two different varieties of the same grape family, but the names are used interchangeably). I have loved them ever since I was a child. They are only available in the late summer/early fall. Must go ifx dinner and then head to a meeting. Sigh--oh for a night to myself! Susan |

Do you remember me?
I am a former SB member and now find myself a newbie once again. The past 5 months have been sobering to say the least. I have a repetitive motion injury in my right hand and wrist that has caused a pain disorder called RSDS to spread through my right upper limb and now, down to my right foot, alas am no longer working. They won't say I will never return, but my full-time worker's comp benefits will be gone in a few months. I have gained about 15 lbs and I'm just beginning to plateau emotionally (I think) and I'm ready to get off my tukus and straighten up, lose weight, and find me under all of this giving up I've done. I spoke with Deb, and although I am unable to type much, as I am limited to using my left hand for typing and writing skills and therefore limited to the amount of individual response I can do, she has welcomed me back with open arms. God has blessed me with a wonderful family and this has been my saving grace. I really would like to participate.
Deb, Thanks for your warm welcome. I definitely will need some pointers I'm sure. It's wonderful to be back in the company of friends. 170/170/165 - 1st goal (I'm going for mini-goals these days, they are more rewarding this way). |
Howdy
Well I weighed in early cause that was the day I had access to a scale, so for all y'all who didn't see it on last weeks board... I'm down 2# :)
Speaking of muscadines... my mom had some at her house when I was there the day I weighed... and I ate a few for the first time in a loooooong time!! Who was it that said they were the same as scuppernongs or whatever, only a different type of the same family... because a neighbor had a muscadine vine growing up and I seem to remember them being bigger and not as tough as these were that my mom had... so maybe she has the scupper-whatevers... LOL. Did good today with eating AND water... GO ME! I think I'm back on track! Gonna allow myself a cup of popcorn tonite during Law and Order... it's my only show I actually ALWAYS watch :) See ya'll tomorrow... if I get time to post... got a busy one planned!!! Bye  |
Hey hey hey everyone!
How are you all? I figured I better post tonight being that I got that e-mail from the MASTER! I do apologize for my absence lately but I have been terribly busy. The beginning of the school year is always very hectic. I have also been hired - as of yesterday - as a Tutor Coordinator for the Dyslexia Center here at the college. My job will basically be to oversee and implement the tutoring program for dyslexic students in the community. It will be every Mon-Thurs night from 3-8. So, I'll be leaving school and heading right to NSU for my second job. It will be really good pay and much more profitable than my regular - tutor at home job. So, I'm very excited. I know that I will be pooped but I REALLY need the extra $$ right now with all of my medical bills. I hope to be able to post at least on the weekends. How are all of you? I hope you are all ok - I miss everyone! My class this year - so far - has been wonderful! The kids are really great and smart - which makes life a lot easier! I have some kids in my 1st grade class that are on a 3rd grade reading level - it's really awesome! But, I still hate the beginning of first grade stuff like trying to teach them to write on regular paper - and to make the size of their letters smaller! Or the fact that they puT CapitAl LeTters AnywHeRe! Get my drift!! You always forget how crappy the beginning of the year is until it's the beginning of the year again! I still don't have Cozmo - my pet bird. He should be coming home within a couple of weeks - he is starting to eat on his own! I'm so excited. I haven't seen him in a couple of weeks either - he's gonna forget who is mama is if I don't get over there quick! Hopefully I can make it there this weekend! I had been straying on the plan but I've been doing really well this week. I just know that for my birthday - which is next week - there will be some goodies from the students and I'll just have to have the will power to pass up everything! A student brought me a doughnut the other day, I kept it on my desk all day and then threw it away at the end of the day. I was very proud of that! Hope all of you are doing fine and I will try to check in at least once a week. I just won't be able to respond to everyone - I hope you all understand!!!! Much love and I miss y'all!!! Missy 284/246/170 |
BOB - that's your butt!!! We DO have the LOCK on everything!! HAHA You just haven't tailgated until you have tailgated at TIGER STADIUM - or should I say - "DEATH VALLEY" WOO HOO!!! Football starts this weekend - let the ragging begin - the games are on!!!!

Hi Everyone!
Just stopped by to say hi to all. Deb- I got your email and thought I'd better post so you don't remove me. Been incredibly busy. Did manage to lose 3 lbs this week - yeah!!!!!!! Just have not had time to get on and read the posts. Hope all is well with everyone and I hope that Melf's sisters are doing better. I'll try to post more often. Good Luck to all you loosers! Sue |
It's late, but I wanted to check in before I hit the hay. Gotta be up before the crack of dawn and get myself ready for the throng. Kids will be at the doors at 7:00 tomorrow morning and the moms will be high-fiving each other in the parking lot as their babies enter the building!
I'm 3 for 3 on the exercise. Someone asked about my son changing schools: Jack-K, I think. Anyway, he's at the Naval Academy so we're not worried about him. It's the daughter that's a senior in high school that we can't move. She lives for her social life and yanking her up her last year of HS would be torture. Music: DH has been job hunting for several months and has been interviewing with a major corrigated container company in Amarillo. He did say today there's a job in Garland that he's trying really hard to get an interview for and that would be wonderful. No moving necessary. I don't want to move to the panhandle. BOB: I'm afraid I won't be much competition with the football trash talking. Because Arkansas isn't in any of the conferences the Texas teams are in, we don't get much press about them. I just know whether they win or not. But we have strong ties with the HOGS so I still love them. ld: It is so good to hear from you! Don't worry about long posts, just pop in and let us know how you are doing. Welcome back!! Beth and Susan: I love muscadines. Brings back memories of childhood. I've made some killer jam with them, too. Deb: Hope your knee quits giving you problems. And hope Michael enjoyed his birthday. It's bedtime folks. I'll let you know how the first day of school went tomorrow. It really won't be bad because I won't have a class until after Labor Day. Jeanie 196/160/130 |
No, I'm NOT lost!!! LOL
Hi everyone, sorry I've been away, but see!! I found you'll again.
Thanks to all of you for your thoughts & prayers for my 2 sisters. The older of the 2, Gloria, the one that has Lupus, thank God does NOT have the West Nile Virus. She is still sick, but better than she was. The younger sis, Theresa, did & still does have it, she is still very weak but on the road to recovery. She has been sick with this for over a week now & it just has to run it's course. Thanks again for all the responses from all of you  's. So glad to see VIV back!! Haven't read much of the board, but wanted to say  Missy & Gator Gal, I thought this might be of interest to both of ya. A friend of mine is going through a divorce & guess what they are fighting over??? Their LSU Season passes! :?:  WIW found me still at 133 which is still ok, but I'd sure like to get down another 3 lbs before my BD next month. Hey, there's alot of us September gals on the board!!! Got to go! Night all! 173/133/130(new goal) |
Quick Thursday Morning Greeting!
Hello All! Well, the pity party is all gone thanks mainly to you all and your wonderful support. Thank you so much for being there during one of my dark, dark moments. I am feeling much more calm about the whole thing. Wish I wouldn't put so much stock in that darned scale. I had a terrible night last night. I was almost sick in the night. Woke up choking feeling like I was going to do the old heave. It was awful. Think I scared DH to death as I gasped for air. So the rest of the night was none to restful. Plus my stomach feels terrible. I've never had anything like that before. Is that what they mean by acid reflux? If so, I feel bad for all who have it. Seems like a nightmare. So I'm not doing my exercising this morning. I will plan to get it in tonight after book club. Keep your fingers crossed that this ickiness in my belly goes away. I think I will lay back down for a while and be late for work. Ugh! Later, Kim P.S. Yesterday we took one of the co-workers out for lunch for her birthday. I ordered a really good salad. It came with two huge pieces of hot, wonderful bread that was obviously made with white flower. I gave both pieces away before my will weakened. Then the waitrress bought the birthday girl a monstrous looking dessert made up of everything illegal. She brought out spoons for everybody. Happy to admit to you all that I did not cheat. Didn't have even one bite. That felt good. So I figure if I can stay strong even when depressed about my weigh in, I'm okay. Thanks again. I'll try to respond individuallyl either tonight or tomorrow. |
Thursday
TOM arrived this morning but instead of bringing weight with him I am supposedly down another 2 lbs!! :cb: :cb: :cb: I get so excited but hope that these 2 stay gone. Sometimes they have a habit of showing up again. These 2, if they remain gone, will count towards next WIW so that is neat that I am off to a good start.
I am having to keep this short because hubby is coming back at 1 pm to take us to King's Landing Historical Settlement. It is a Pioneer Village thing that we have a year membership to. The kids love going there because they always get a horse ride and an ice cream cone. I am determined to pass on the icecream cone this time and hubby said we would stop to get me one of my SF treats to eat while they are having the cones. I thought that was very sweet, supportive and understanding of him. We walk through the village and look into the old houses and see people dressed up in period costumes so I will get more walking in. I will do a WATP tape before we go though too. QUILTER- Just wanted to say congrats on not giving into that temptation in the midst of your bummer! You DID it!! :cb: You stayed on track inspite of your bad WIW and that shows determination. I rejoice with you. Sorry you had such a bad night last evening, here is to praying you feel better today. FRUIT-Get in a visit to Cosmo! I heard that Amazon's tend to bond to one person so you want it to be you! I was wondering where you went to..welcome back. LDBLOND- I remember you girl. Sorry to hear about your health. Hop back on the wagon with us and don't worry if you can't type much. Just a line to let us know how you are doing and we can all respond knowing you are there! {hugs} ROSALIE- Nice to see you again. Okay, I have to get moving here so I am ready when hubby gets back for us. I will put my exercise in the exercise post now and then go do it so I don't have to come back. I want to be 4 for 4! |
Happy Thursday- Wish it were Friday!:s:
Good morning to you all. Hope everyone is up and bright and perky. I'm sleepy.:sp: Got my walk/jog in this a.m. and my workout. Done for the day unless Dh wants to walk tonite. It was only 66 degrees. It felt pretty good. Went to the ballgame last nite, had buffalo wings and a salad and a glass of wine. Have done great with my food this week. No in between meal snacks except for my mid morning apple, no ice cream at all.:cb: Viv, Congrats for making it 100% Op. Now do it again and again, and again. Hope those pickles did the trick. Is Special K Legal? ChrisB, Congrats on the 1 lb loss. Thanks for the kind words. I have found this is the easiest WOE I have ever tried. I have never stuck with something this long. I plan to stick with it forever. Rosalie, Glad you had a nice vacation. Yuk! vacation pounds! Hope they disapear quickly. Good for you signing up for those classes. I love wt training. Fillise, I don't think Belle would take kindly to the kitten. You had better check with her first. Thanks for the info on the scuppernongs. Have never heard of them or seen them in the stores. Bob, Just a little tip: Don't bend over! OK 3 smacks with a wet noodle (ww of course), I never can keep Fla State Seminoles (gold uniforms) (right?) and U of Fla straightgreen & purple. Never could remember who Spurrier coached. Just knew I didn't like him. I agree the UK fans really know how to tailgate. The boy I work with leaves at 6:00 a.m. to start. IDblond, Of course you are welcome here. We totally understand that you can't post much. How horrible about your injury. Hope things get better for you. We are here to help and support you. Beth, Yeah on the 2#s. Sounds like you are back on track. Keep up the good work. Fruit, It was so great to hear from you. We have missed you. Congrats on the new job, it sounds exciting. Glad you have been doing good with your eating. WTG passing up that donut. Check in when you can. Slaphappy, WTG onthe 3#s. It was nice to hear from you again. Jred, I totally understand about your DD. I have one who is very social too. I think she is taking partying 101 in college. It would be bad to uproot her in her senior year. it is such an important year. Good going on the exercising. Melf, I'm so glad your DS with Lupus doesn't have the virus. That would be so dangerous. Prayers for a speedy recovery to your other DS. Quilter, What a scary eaxperience. Hope you are feeling better now. WTG on passing up that bread and dessert. Especially in your funk. You go girl!!! have a great day. Check in later. Jackie 257/173145 10-10-01 |
Hey Everyone
I know it's not Friday... but I ran across a funny today and I thought I'd share it. I probably won't get a free moment to post tomorrow anyway!!
Glad to see so many 'old-familiar' faces wandering back in!! We missed you guys! I'm struggling this morning... but I'm gonna STICK to my GUNS!! Water Water Water Water... is my mantra today :) OK... Here's My Funny... God's Diet And God populated the earth with broccoli and cauliflower and spinach and green and yellow vegetables of all kinds, so Man and Woman would live long and healthy lives. And Satan created McDonald's. And McDonald's brought forth the 99-cent double-cheeseburger. And Satan said to Man, "You want fries with that?" And Man said, "Super size them!" And Man gained pounds. And God created the healthful yogurt, that woman might keep her figure that man found so fair. And Satan froze the yogurt, and he brought forth chocolate, nuts and brightly colored sprinkle candy to put on the yogurt. And woman gained pounds. And God said, "Try my crispy fresh salad." And Satan brought forth creamy dressings, bacon bits, and shredded cheese. And there was ice cream for dessert. And woman gained pounds. And God said, "I have sent you heart healthy vegetables and olive oil with which to cook them." And Satan brought forth chicken-fried steak from Cracker Barrel so big it needed its own platter. And Man gained pounds, and his bad cholesterol went through the roof. And God brought forth walking and running shoes, and Man resolved to lose those extra pounds. And Satan brought forth the internet and cable TV with remote control so Man would not have to toil to change channels between ESPN and ESPN2. And Man gained pounds. And God said, "You're running up the score, Devil." And God brought forth the potato, a vegetable naturally low in fat and brimming with nutrition. And Satan peeled off the healthful skin and sliced the starchy center into chips and deep-fat fried them. And he created sour cream dip also. And Man clutched his remote control and ate the potato chips swaddled in cholesterol. And Satan saw and said, "It is good." And Man went into cardiac arrest. And God sighed and created quadruple bypass surgery..... And Satan created HMOs... LOLOL :D Thought y'all might get a kick out of that one :) I'm off to answer the call of the dryer. Gotta do laundry, dishes, clean the house, clean the hampster cage and my room today!!! It's gonna be a BUSY day, not to mention I woke up to a FLAT TIRE and I had to use the other vehicle to take the kiddo's to school. I hope DH gets home in time to fix it! Everyone have a great Thursday!! |
Hi there! Wayward child checking in....:o Hope all is well with everyone - I'm still OP (at least for the most part), and losing slowly. However, I am continuing to get smaller and I really believe that the fat loss is offset by the muscle gain, at least in the lbs. department. I have really gotten away from spending so much time online, as I am trying very hard to manage my household. It obviously doesn't come naturally to me <<<sighhhhh>>>
Meanwhile, I have developed a headache that has gone on since June 24 (at least), and I've been to the chiropractor, the dentist for a night guard, since I clench my teeth, the ENT to clear up my insignificant sinus infection, and the eye doctor, who told me I'm slightly farsighted. Well, I should be getting my glasses tomorow, and I'm going to give it 2 weeks before I go to a neurologist. If that doesn't work, then I'm going to guess it's just tension, and I need to go to a physical therapist to help me retrain my muscles. Otherwise, I've been doing great - feeling pretty wonderful overall!!! Have a great day :D |
