HiedieHo All!
My things are slow here! Went to NH this morning. Apparently they weren't told I'd be in today (it's a holiday). I had told Gigi that I would be in and she left the coffee out for me. Ay any rate, they were glad to see me, as there was nothing going on. They thought it would be a long day. Finished my black swan last night, have to check out my frame supply and see what I have that's appropriate! He is beautiful! Getting ready to do one of two birdhouse designs I have. Can't make up mind which to do! I know to day is not FF but I roared when I read this and just had to send it now! Her ancestors had been farmers. Her parents had been farmers. And she had married a farmer. She was plain of feature and built sort of like a Holstein cow. She knew no other life than the farm life she knew. They had cows and horses and sheep and goats and pigs and chickens and ducks and ...And of course, they also grew a number of crops for sale at the local farmers market. Unable to grow salt and coconut and some few exotic items, she went shopping at the local grocery store for the few items that she and her husband did not raise or grow for themselves. There she saw some small cans of Carnation condensed milk which had a contest entry form at the display. It being one of her more disgruntled days, she dug in her purse and came up with a stub of a pencil which she used to complete the jingle with some thoughts, which struck her. Carnation had furnished the first line of the jingle with these words, "I like Carnation best of all ...." and the submitter had only to complete the remainder of the jingle on the entry form using 50 words or less. She had scant hope of winning the contest, but felt better once she had completed the entry form with her thoughts on it. A couple of months later, the woman was surprised when a representative from the Carnation Milk Company came to her door and told her that her entry was the best one submitted. Then he went on to explain that regrettably the company could not publish it. In lieu of that latter fact, they had decided that her entry was worth at least a consolation award. He then presented her with a check from the Carnation Milk Company in the amount of $1,000 for her creativity. Oh yes ... and her entry was: I like Carnation best of all, No tits to pull, no **** to haul. No barns to clean, no hay to pitch, Just punch a hole in the son of a *****. Will check things out later! On a more serious note here is my MM for today. 1. Don't use time or words carelessly. Neither can be retrieved. 2. Don't be afraid to learn. Knowledge is weightless, a treasure you can carry easily. 3. Don't run through life so fast that you forget not only where you've been, but also where you are going. 4. Don't shut love out of your life by saying it's impossible to find. The quickest way to receive love is to give; the fastest way to lose love is to hold it too tightly, and the best way to keep love is to give it wings. 5. Don't be afraid to encounter risk. It is by taking chances that we learn how to be brave. 6. Don't be afraid to admit you are less than perfect. It is this fragile thread that binds us together. 7. Don't give up when you still have something to give. Nothing is really over until the moment you stop trying. 8. Don't let your life slip through your fingers by living in the past or future. By living our life one day at a time, you live ALL the days of your life. 9. Don't take for granted the closest things to your heart. Cling to them as you would your life, for without them life is meaningless. 10. Don't set your goals by what other people deem important. Only you know what is best for you. 11. Don't undermine your worth by comparing yourself with others. It is because we are different that each of us is special. YOU ARE ALL SPECIAL TO ME! |
hello everyone just got back from getting my haircut.. Wow I feel better! And bet I look better.. The hair dresser is the one that got me started on SB. Its always fun to go to her with my new weight loss... Be glad when I can go in and say I've reached my goal... I'm trying a new crockpot recipe I read about over at sweet sense. Take a pork roast put in your crockpot. Put one package lipton dry onion soup on it and a can or jar of applesauce. Cook on low all day... The girls that have tried it really brag on it. So I've got one going and can't wait to have it tonight..
I feel like I'm on the wrong page this afternoon.. HUH? |
I haven't had a lot of success plugging into this wonderful support group but it sure has not had anything to do with any of you! You have all been so supportive and encouraging and I thank each one of you for your warm welcome and kind thoughts. My trouble is that I can't keep up with all the great folks on this site so please forgive me for this very general post as I thank you all for your encouragement.
Do any of y'all mind if I sorta plug in now and then with a word or two but not as faithfully as so many of you? Will you allow me to remain a part of the gang that way? I so appreciate all the things you post and am learning tons from it so I hope you will let me stay under those conditions. My Sis has volunteered to make me some "legal" breads. She's been thin all our lives while I have been grossly overweight. You can't imagine how thrilled she is that I have joined SB! It's the way she has been eating forever! And it's her natural inclination!!! Ugh! But she's been right all through the years! She has always had plenty of energy and very little appetite...THE WAY I FEEL NOW SINCE JOINING SB! I had no idea all the sugar I ate in one form or another was working against my health so extremely! I'd go through up's and down's and emotional rollercoasters and join and abandon one eating plan after another. But now, I feel like a new person with energy and no mood swings...I LOVE IT! Again, thanks to each of you for your encouragement. This thing's for life and I have made a bunch of new friends right here that I hope I can keep for a long time to come! |
