Busting & Shaking to the finish of 2008

Here we are -- another month has begun . . . and it's time for a new chat thread -- so here's our new home for thne rest of the year.

Let's make the last two months of 2008 our best time ever. Let's make sure that this year is the one that ends our sugar addictions for once and for all, and we start into 2009 in complete control of our eating habits. :yay:

Go team go . . . :carrot:

Woo Hoo a new page... I love a new beginning. Heres a couple of hard months. Except I do think Thanksgiving isn't bad. Its only one day and turkey is healthy. Along with some baked sweet potatoes and nice veggie etc. The week end is lazy but we did go grocery shopping on Friday. We had pizza Friday night but I only had on slice. It just had mushrooms and cheese on it. Last night was grilled steak. With some broccoli salad. Tonight DH is making grilled cheese on sour dough. The weather is perfect here. Tomorrow I go have a mamogram and get the oil in the car changed so it will be a busy day. Have a good evening....

Solly 11-03-2008 09:28 AM

Hi ladies,

Weekend was a busy one. We had a retirement party o Saturday and I did very well with my eating. I was so proud. Even ate at Panera for lunch and had half a sald and their low fat black bean soup. Yummy. Yesterday I started with am omlett for breakfast and I never was hungry the rest of the day, even when we went to dinner. We did eat Hooter's wings, but I was still under my calories count for the day, so I was ok. This morning the scale was way down so I will check again tomorrow and see if it holds.
I am having a lot of trouble getting in enough calories each day.

I got all of my Dickens villages up yesterday. Took us about 3 hours. I have 18 of them and we put them on this landing space upstairs and my dd has to climb over the banister and go over there and set them up. It's only about a 3'x2' area and the drop is about 8'. I just may leave them up all year. I love looking at them.

Brought a couple more Christmas gifts this weekend. I am well on my way. I bought some buckets with cute snowmen on them. I am using mine for kindling by the fireplace but I need to fill them with something to use as gifts. Any ideas? Also I need some ideas for little gifts for people who come to my house to take home when they leave. Not much on making anything so I need some ideas for that if anyone has any.

Meowee, thanks for starting a new board. They are always so nice.

Toni, good luck on your mamogram today. We made homemade pizza's for Halloween before the kiddies came around.
Got to get started. Have a great day.

Hey . . . where is everybody hiding?????

Solly 11-05-2008 10:04 AM

Hi ladies,

Not a lot going on with me. Scale is still down. Only need a couple pounds to get down into another new set of numbers. My body is so crazy. Never lose then 8 lbs all at once. Nice motivation when it finally does happen though. Boy the trainer about killed me last night. I can hardly lift my arms today. I actually worked so hard I thought I was going to throw up when I left there. Amazing how much harder you work with someone like that then on your own. I told him I was going to St Maarten in Jan and wanted to be able to wear a string bikini. He laughed and asked how big was the string :fr: That is not a visual even I would want in my head.

Any one made a granola that is legal? My DD is wanting some and I bought something packaged at the store but thought someone on here had made one. Guess I need to check out the recipe board.

Toni, how did your mammo go the other day?

Meowee, glad you are holding down the fort here.

Where is all our other newbies? & oldies?

Got to run to a meeting. Talk to you tomorrow.

Hi all!

I'm new to this forum. I just got sugar busters in the mail yesterday and I started reading it last night. I am addicted to sugar and this is gonna be a difficult transition for me. I'm excited to make some changes though. I've got a lot of problems with depression and some other 'mood' disorders and I'm really curious to see how this will affect how i feel mentally as well as physically.

Anyway, just wanted to say hi and thanks for introducing me to this concept. I'd never heard of Sugar Busters before I came to 3FC.

Solly 11-06-2008 12:53 PM

Hi Sarah and welcome to our board. We are a little slow right now, but it should pick up soon. I hope you stay with us. This is easy to follow. No "white" things such as white bread, white potatoes, white pasta, sugar. Only whole wheat bread with less than 3 grams of sugar, ww pasta, whole grain cereals, crackers. No bananas, raisins, or pineapple, watermelon. I beleive there is a newbie list of the basics youmight want to check out. It will take a few days to get over your sugar fixation. You may even have withdrawal headaches, but once you do, it will be easy. Plan ahead and always be prepared and don't cheat. That's the best advice I can give you. Ask any questions you may have. I originally lost 105 lbs on this and gained 30 back with chemo. But I have lost almost 20 lbs and working hard to get it all back off. Good luck and looking forward to getting to know you.

Nothing going o with me today. Did not go to the gym last night as my dd bought a new car and had some work done to the house that she wanted us to see so we went out there. I needed a break anyway. My arms are so sore today I can hardly use them. I will definately do lower body tonight.

Toni, where are you?

Meowee,

sct 11-06-2008 01:10 PM

Thanks for the encouragement Solly! I appreciate the welcome too ;)

Is peanut butter allowed?

Toni48 11-06-2008 05:05 PM

Wow I've had a hard time getting on here today. Seems like my life has been crazy this week. I had my Mammogram on Monday. And have run the rest of the week. Got the results of my pap smear and its abnormal so I'm to see a specialist. I've waited all day for the doctors office to call with my appointment. Maybe tomorrow. Eating is horrible. Hopefully better tonight I'm making pork cutlets rolled in whole wheat panko crumbs. With a salad and maybe baked sweet potato.

Sct-:welcome: Yes peanut butter is allowed. Its good to have you aboard.

Solly- Sounds like you've been pretty busy working out. Good for you. You're really doing it. You're my inspiration.... Congrads on losing the weight....

Meowee- Hope you're doing well....

Have a good evening....

meowee 11-06-2008 05:51 PM

Hi there gang . . . :grouphug:

And a big :wel3fc: to you SARAH -- so glad to have you joining us. There's a sub-forum listed at the top of the forum page that may anwer a lot of your questions.

Another busy day today and unfortunately my second day of not OP eating -- tried to make good choices, but eating in restaurants too often is never a good thing. At least my blood sugar levels are holding okay. Hopefully life will be back to normal tomorrow. :crossed:

See you later . . . :carrot:

crayphish 11-07-2008 04:42 AM

Hi all!! I rec'd my sugar busters book this week. I am hopeful in getting back on track. Getting back on the wagon is hard this time, for some reason. I have been on a baked sweet potato w/ sour cream kick this week. Too yummy. I plan on baking a splenda cheesecake next weekend. This weekend I am going to relax in Biloxi in a condo all by my lonesome...honey has to work.

TGIF!!

Solly 11-07-2008 11:55 AM

Hi ladies,

Hope everyone is ready to enjoy the weekend. We are going to the race track tomorrow with DH's work. Luckily it is indoors as it will be in the low 50's tomorrow. They should have food I can make good choices from.

Toni, I'm sorry to hear that your pap smear was abnormal. There are a lot of factors that can cause it. Please keep us posted.

SCT, they say the natural pb is better, but I have never used it. Jiff has one called Simply Jiff that has less sugar.

Cray, enjoy your alone time. The cheesecake is delish.

Meowee, hope you are having a better day today.

Have a great weekend everyone! Talk to you on Monday.

meowee 11-07-2008 04:57 PM

Gee whiz . . . I've had another hectic day . . . don't know what is going on but it is really messing up my eating good intentions. Today had chocolate in it and not the good healthy stuff -- peanut butter cups crossed my path at a very bad moment.

Other than that, it's been rain, rain, rain all day -- but it is mild.

sct 11-07-2008 10:54 PM

Thanks for the warm welcome all :) I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone better!

It's getting so cold here. Last weekend we had record breaking high temps and now it's dipping into the 20's. Brrrrr. I need to do some weather proofing around the house to get ready for the cold ahead. We've been lucky so far with a pretty mild autumn so I shouldn't complain. But I hate winter!

Have a good weekend ladies

Hi ladies,

Whatever funk I had in my head for the last two weeks has settled into a full blown cold. I am tired of blowing my nose.

Eating wasn't bad this weekend, not great, but not horrible. Scale was up some this morning but hopefully that is salt and will be gone by tomorrow. Just hope I can make it to the gym tonight and tomorrow with this cold.

Sarah, it is in the low 50's here and calling for rain all week. I'm freezing and way ready for summer to come back.

Meowee, watch out for those peanut butter cups, they are killers.

Toni, Any dr appointment yet? Please keep us posted.

Got to run, have a great day.

meowee 11-10-2008 10:25 AM

Hi gang . . .

Wow, is it ever quiet around here.

Toni48 11-10-2008 01:40 PM

Hello. Well the week end is over and I'm a lazy butt. I didn't get anything worth while done. But it was nice. It sure is cold here. Last night it got down to 29. We forgot to turn on the heater and it was freezeing in here this morning. Brrrr..... Think I'll make a nice meat loaf for dinner. I didn't get one made last week. So I'm thawing out the burger. Well how are you all.

sct 11-10-2008 04:36 PM

Today has just been crappy, I haven't had much to do at work and the time is crawling. And I still have to work tonight at my part time job. To make things worse, the gal i'm scheduled with this evening hates me right now for reasons unknown. She won't talk to me and it just makes me extremely anxious the whole time we're working together. Its cold out and now it's raining. It has definitely been a Monday. I can't wait to go home and go to bed.

On a happy note, I think I lost a couple pounds, but I can't tell for sure because I don't own a scale haha. I'll have to get one of those sooner or later. I haven't had any fast food in over a week, which is huge for me considering I used to drive thru somewhere once a day!

Hope you're all having a better day than me ;)
-sarah

Solly 11-11-2008 12:30 PM

Hi ladies, hope everyone is well. It is raining here and predicted to rain the rest of the week. Yuk!

I forced myself to go to the gym last night. I didn't do much cardio, only enough to warm up and then 30 minutes of strength work. I'm glad I did. I actually feel some better today. At least my faucet nose has slowed down a bunch. Tonight I have my trainer. He will kick my butt for sure.

Toni, any word on your dr appt yet? Hope you don't have to wait forever to get in. Better get that heat on. I'm freezing already. I hate it.

Sarah, Sorry about your part time job. Nothing like going to work in a bad situation. I hate slow days too. Yesterday drug for me also as I felt bad and did not feel like working much. I was glad to sit down and rest awhile.

I did get my garland on my stairs up. So I think I have the long, tedius decorating done. I will probably do everything else but my tree this weekend.

30 minutes to lunch and boy am I starving. I made veggie soup so I will have that and half a grilled cheese sandwich and fruit.

Have a great day.

Toni48 11-11-2008 12:56 PM

Hello everyone. I worked my butt off yesterday so think I'll probably take it easy today. Its rainy and icky outside so today is a good day to stay on the computer and play....

Solly- My pap ended up normal. They sure scared me to death. And no report yet on my mamo.... Friday I go for my chemical stress test. Sure will be glad when all this is over. Good for you with your work outs. Sorry you have a cold.

Sarah- I hate those kind of days. Hope today is better...

Have a great day....

meowee 11-11-2008 05:47 PM

HI . . . :grouphug:

Getting colder around here and boy is it windy. Still no snow though and the long term forecast is calling for a return to double digits (50-ish)by the weekend. Can't help thinking we will be paying for this mild spell later on.

Have a great evening . . . :carrot:

sct 11-11-2008 11:13 PM

Thanks Solly and Toni. Today went much better mostly because I called in sick at my full time job :p I still went in to my part time job though. So it was a short easy day.

Cold and rainy here too. At least it's not snowing yet :D

Have a good night all!
-sarah

Toni48 11-12-2008 01:32 PM

Hello all. Just checking in. Its gloomy and cool out today. Not much happening here.

Sarah- I hope you're feeling better today.

Meowee-How you doing?

Solly- Where are you?

Solly 11-12-2008 02:31 PM

Hi ladies,

mytrainer kicked my butt last night, but at least I was able to do the exercises w/o much difficulty and finish them all. I hate it when I just can't do them at all. I felt so good yesterday. Started thinking that what I thought was a cold was maybe just allergies. Now today mt head is stuffed up again and I'm coughing alot. Who knows.

Toni, so glad your pap ended up ok. That is usually what happens with those. I'm sure your mamo is fine too.

Sarah, hope you are feeling better. We are supposed toget snow flurries on saturday.

Meowee, I beleive they are predicting a bad winter with colder temps and more snow. Yuk! Right now it is just cool and rainly. Is it summer yet?

Have a great day

crayphish 11-13-2008 06:26 AM

Good morning to y'all!! I've been trying to get the food stuff in order! The trip to biloxi was very relaxing. It was weird to do much of nothing and to not have to be anywhere at anytime. Oh to win the lottery!!

I've lost about 3 lbs so far.. My bf, Jim, cooks to darn good. He tries to keep it SB but I dunno. He sauted some baby eggplant (YUK), leeks and celery. Pureed it, spiced it and simmered it. The steamed a head of cauliflower, put it in the "soup". THEN he sauteed some shrimp and threw it in. It was delicious. It is hard to not over eat such yummies...... I think the leeks are not legal...they are soooo sweet.

Anyhoo, it's gonna rain here today and get cool this weekend.

Happy Thursday!

meowee 11-13-2008 09:07 AM

Hi there . . . :grouphug:

Not a heck of a lot going on around here . . . very cold and overcast this morning, but still no snow!!!! Supposed to see some sun later on this afternoon. :crossed:

I've been eating pretty OP the last couple of days and I'm only one pound above my ticker at the moment -- hopefully I'll knock that off by the end of this month.

Have a great day . . . :carrot:

chris313 11-14-2008 07:43 AM

Good morning ladies!
I feel like there's never enough time in the day to post anymore.:( Working full-time and trying to maintain some form of semblance in my house is proving to be quite tricky. But... I have a vacation day today so I thought this would be a good time to catch up! I miss chatting with you and seeing what everyone's up to. I'm happy to hear your pap turned out fine, Toni. I had a scare like that once too, and it turned out to be nothing. Solly, I'm so proud of you for getting a trainer. I have been terrible about exercise throughout my weight loss and it's showing. I'm all mushy and have lost a lot of muscle tone. Keep up the good work!! You're my inspiration now to get some type of continuous exercise going.:carrot:

Meowee, those peanut butter cups are the :devil, aren't they? We didn't have 1 trick or treater on Halloween, so you know my husband and I kept hitting that candy bowl. I've made it a rule though that I never go more than 2 days off plan, and I've been able to lose in spite of being naughty at times.
Welcome Sarah and Crayphish:welcome3: You're going to love Sugar Busters. You can eat so well and not feel deprived, and that's the key to maintaining the lifestyle. You won't believe the amount of energy you get back in such a short period of time:woohoo:

I don't know about you ladies, but I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving this year more than ever. My girls will be home from college and we're going to my sister's house to celebrate with my parents too!! My husband loves Thanksgiving because he never heard of pumpkin pie growing up in Hungary. The first time he tried it was after we got married, and now he's hooked!!

As for me, work is challenging, but I do enjoy it. Sales have been down due to the economy, but it will turn around again. I'm also going to start looking into the maintainer's section. I have absolutely no idea how to start increasing calories, but not going overboard either. I'm 1 pound away from goal (can you believe it?) and I need to get informed. I love my protein, so I'm hoping I can eat more meat and maybe add some additional healthy snacks during the day.

Well ladies, I've got to go make some breakfast for my husband. Hopefully I'll be able to post again soon. If not, have a wonderful Thanksgiving, we have a lot to be grateful for!:grouphug:

Solly 11-14-2008 08:25 AM

Happy Friday ladies

I did a post yesterday, but I sure don't see it anywhere. Cyberspace I guess.

No big plans for the weekend. We are stripping the wallpaper in my dining room below the chair rail and will paint that tomorrow. Have to get one or 2 things off my to do list accomplished and plan to put up the rest of my chritmas decorations, clean and grocery shop. Just the normal stuff. So eating should be no problem.

Chris, I am so excited for you being 1 lb away from goal. Smart idea learning how to maintain. Even though wt loss is not easy, maintaining is a lot harder I think. How many times have we lost weight and put more back on. I know I am guilty of that many times. This time is the last I hope and pray.

Toni, How are you doing today? Have a great weekend. I guess you are sending me all that cold weather I see headed our way.

Meowee, those peanut butter cups are a killer. Hope your week is going better. You can get that pound off by the end of the month for sure.

Cray, glad you enjoyed your r&r time. Congrats on the 3 lbs. :cheer: Keep up the good work. I'm not sure about leeks. Are they some type of onion? or are they a root veggie? You can tell I'm not the gourmet cook.

Better get some work going. I was supposed to be off today with my DH but we have a bid going in at 3:00. I may sneak out after that.

Have a great weekend everyone.

meowee 11-14-2008 10:46 AM

Well . . . yesterday's lunch was Chinese and, although the calories stayed not too bad, the salt did me in of course and I'm up a pound. I know it's just www so I'll be sticking to OP stuff today and guzzling lots of exyta water. It was good.

Our weather is getting weirder and weirder.

Before the sun came out yesterday afternoon, we actually saw a tiny bit of "thick" and "slightly white-ish" rain. Didn't even last long enough to actually land on the ground though. Today the sun is shining and the teperatures are going up again.

Forecast for the weekend is calling for lots and lots of rain and a high temperature on Sunday of 20C/68F. Yep . . . 'normal' for this time of year is about 5C/41F. :dunno:

Have a great and fund Friday folks . . . :carrot:

meowee 11-15-2008 10:30 AM

Hi there . . .

Well -- after staying OP yesterday and swigging lots of water, one of those www pounds has disappeared. Hopefully, the other one will follow shortly. :crossed:

crayphish 11-16-2008 08:35 AM

thanksgiving

Good morning y'all!! So, what are the plans for Thanksgiving? Cooking anything good, bad, or both? Staying on SB or taking a vacation? Dining out?

I will be on my sofa as I am having a hysterectomy this coming Friday.

meowee 11-16-2008 02:44 PM

Hi . . . :grouphug:

Our Thanksgiving was October 13 so no real temptations until the Christmas hysteria hits.

Best of luck for the little surgical adventure. :crossed:

Toni48 11-17-2008 03:17 PM

Hello all.... Well here we are at Monday and got the week to deal with. We grocery shopped Friday and got the stuff for our Thanksgiving meal. We're roasting a whole turkey instead of a turkey breast this year. I'm doing so awful on my eating I think I'm setting myself up to fail. Will have turkey, green beans and I'm not sure what else. Of course DH will have to have mashed potatoes and deveiled eggs. I've got a recipe I'll post for a pumpin dessert that instead of a pie I put in pudding cups last year. It was really good. Hope everyone is fine.

Toni48 11-17-2008 03:19 PM

No Bake Pumpkin Pie[/u]

1 small package butterscotch instant sf pudding
1 Cup skim milk

Mix the above for 1 minute, then add:

1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
1 cup pumpkin

Stir well then add:

1/2 container of lf cool whip ( 8 oz size )

Stir well again and pour in low fat pie crust. Top with remaining cool whip. Refrigerate 3 hours.

Can also be used as pudding without the pie crust

Solly 11-18-2008 10:50 AM

Hi ladies, just wanted to check in. I am swamped at work and have had no time to post. Hopefully, byt he end of the week I will be caught up.

No time for individual posts, except to wish Crayphish a successful surgery and take care of yourself. I hope someone will bring you some Turkey. Now days, Hys are a lot easier so hopfully you will be back on your feet in no time.

Be back as soon as I can.

meowee 11-18-2008 11:15 AM

Hi gang . . .

I absolutely  that recipe, TONI, although I've only ever used it as a pudding. If you want an even more decadent touch, try beating in a container of spreadable SF/FF cream cheese.

Anyway . . . what a difference a day or two makes weather-wise -- high temperature Sunday, 70F; yesterday, 41F; today we will be lucky to make it much above freezing and the precipitation that is expected will probably be white and lingering. At lest it isn't nearly as windy.

Have a good day . . . :carrot:

Toni48 11-18-2008 02:43 PM

Hello...... I made that recipe as a pudding and put it in pretty glasses. Thats what we had last Thanksgiving instead of pie. It was so good. Yum Meowee the cream cheese sounds wonderful. I haven't planned much today. In a second I have to get up and fix lunch for DH. And figure out whats for dinner. I think it might be taco soup.

Crayfish- Good luck with your surgery.

Meowee- Love that chinese food. Yum....

Solly- Hope you get everything done.

Have a good day....
