Goodness where is everyone? I had a really nice day went shopping with three friends and out to lunch. It was a great day...

meowee 11-19-2008 07:49 PM

Busy, busy, busy . . . but did want to say a quick HI . . .

Toni48 11-20-2008 06:56 PM

Wow we're slow here. Got almost all my Christmas shopping done on line this past couple of weeks. Bless the internet when you live in a rural area. Still having a hard time with Dh. He's so hard to buy for. And then stocking suffers. Now I'd better concentrate on Thanksgiving. Its turned cold here and is a freezing 32 out right now.

Solly 11-21-2008 02:36 PM

Hi ladies

Had just a minute and thought I owuld pope in.

Nothing exciting with me. Sam ole smae ole. Work, gym, and home.
No plans for the weekend other than working around the house. I guess I will put up my old tree as I haven't found a new one I like for the money yet.
Saturday I am going to make a big pot of kale greens. Yum

Toni, glad you had a good time with your friends. I have the worst time with stockings too and they are my kids favorite part. Especially for DH and SIL.

Meowee, it was 28 here today and we got lots of snow flurries yesterday. I think it is going to 50 this weekend though. We will get out and put up our outside lights and decorations.

Have a great weekend.

meowee 11-21-2008 05:19 PM

:grouphug:

Definitely slow around 3FC -- happens every year about this time, but this year it seems particularly quiet in a few places.

I'm still doing the headless chicken dance around here -- don't seem to remember that working full time was quite so bad when I used to do it regularly -- do you think I'm getting older or just out of practice.

Eating hasn't been the greatest either. Hopefully I'll be back on track soon.

To top things off, looks like Winter is finally going to get to us -- some parts of the Province have already had a couple of bad storms but we've only got a bit of dust. BUT . . . by noon tomorrow we are supposed to have a good 30 cm (that's a FOOT) of the stuff.

Have a great evening, gang . . . see you later . . . :carrot:

Toni48 11-21-2008 10:39 PM

Howdy ho...... Just popping in to say hi. Nothing much going on today. Had to run to town for milk and some cranberries for Thanksgiving. Are you all planning your meal? What are you having?

Solly- good for you still working out. Have a good week end.

Meowee- Oh no not the white stuff. Keep warm....

meowee 11-23-2008 01:27 PM

Still busy and still seeing snow flurries.

Solly 11-24-2008 01:49 PM

Hi ladies,

Just a quickie here. Going out of my mind with so much to do at work and at home. Had to get up this morning at 5:00 to spot clean my house as we had so much work around the house that I did not get to my regular cleaning. I scrath off 10 things on my to do list and then add 10 more. This is never ending. Put up one tree (not decorated) and then decide dto go out and buy a differnt one. Took the old one down and put up the new one. Fell into bed at 11:40 and up with the alarm at 5:00. I am dragging. Got to make it to the gym though. It's a short week and lots of food envolved so exercise is so important.

Toni, I don't cook. We go to my sisters and all I bring is meatballs and a bottle of wine. I do Christmas. Is it just you and Steve or do some of your kids come over?

Meowee, it is in the 50's here. At least it was nice putting up the outside decorations yesterday. It has rained all day and they are calling for flurries tomorrow.

Just in case I dpn't get back anymore this week, I wish everyone a wonder Thanksgiving. Watch you food, enjoy but don't over do. Be sure to count your many blessings.

Big shopping day on Friday. I am truly nuts. ha-ha. :hugs:

crayphish 11-25-2008 12:56 PM

Hello y'all, checkin in from the hysterectomy. I'm bloated like a Macy's parade balloon but on the upswing. The pain isn't so bad but the discomfort is. And, oh the grumpiness....my poor dear Jim. He is a trooper!!

Our weather is beautiful, in the 60s and cloudless. For Thanksgiving we (he) are going to cook cornish hens, fresh brussell sprouts, probably roasted sweet potatoes and I am going to make brownies. I'm considering using half oat flour and half wheat flour and splenda. Dunno.

Anywho, I'm going to lay back down for a while.

Take care!

Solly 11-25-2008 04:14 PM

Hi ladies.

Just a quick hello.

Cray, glad you are recovering. That bloatedness is miserable. Have you ever tried the No pudge brownies? THey are made with yogurt and really good & low calorie. They come in a pink box with a pig on front.

Happy Thinksgiving everyone!!!!!

Toni48 11-25-2008 06:05 PM

Good evening. Had to go for a chemical stress test yesterday and it took up all day. Plus its a 3 hour drive from here and I'm tired today. But have wash going so I won't have anything to do but some baking tomorrow. My DH wants a big ole tradional Thanksgiving so thats what we're having. The turkey is thawed and in the fridge.

Solly- It will only be the two of us. But we'll be with the kids at Christmas.

Crayphish- Hope you're feeling better. Your dinner sounds good.

Meowee- Hello.......

meowee 11-26-2008 03:36 PM

Still hanging in there but will be very glad when I can get back to doing 'me' stuff. Finally told 'them' that this is the last time. Hope they believed me. :crossed:

Toni48 11-26-2008 04:41 PM

Happy Thanksgiving...... :turkey: May you have a lovely day......

meowee 11-27-2008 09:03 AM

 . . . What TONI said . . . :grouphug:

meowee 11-29-2008 03:20 PM

 . . . :mag:

Pretty quiet in here. :D

Toni48 11-29-2008 10:32 PM

Made a pan of turkey enchiladas for dinner. And tomorrow we're cooking a pot of turkey soup. Yum...... Sure am enjoying the holiday with DH home. The weatherman is calling for snow after midnight. Hope everyone is doing okay and having a great Thanksgiving week end.

Toni48 11-30-2008 10:03 PM

Well I made my turkey soup today. It came out so good. Using every bit of the turkey and not wasteing anything.

meowee 12-01-2008 09:10 AM

Good Morning . . . :grouphug:

Wow, I hope your December is off to a better start than mine . . . we've got realtively mild b ut very wet and windy weather; I ache everywhere and my blood sugar is running higher than it should and then, like the idiot I can be from time to time, I ate chocolate for breakfast :o

Hopefully things will get a lot better as the month progresses.

Toni48 12-01-2008 06:49 PM

Well tomorrow I hit the stores! But tonight is leftover turkey enchiladas. Am I getting tired of turkey????? Its been right around 30 degrees out. Hopefully tomorrow is better...

Solly 12-02-2008 10:01 AM

Hope everyone had a wonderful TG. Ours was fine, nothing exciting. Not one of my favorite holidays. DH & I hit WAlMart at 5:30 on Friday. Went after some movies and a digital picture frame. All they had was the frame. Then we went to the furniture store and bought new family room furniture. I had picked it out awhile back but they had 20% off until 9:00 so we were there by 6:00. Didn't actually save any money, as we bought another chair but I would have never bought it w/o the discount. Then I met my girls at 7:00 and we shopped until 5:00 that night. I was beat to say the least.

Got a lot done and everything is wrapped and under the tree. Have a few small things to do around the house before our party this weekend. I will be off Thursday and Friday so that will be a big help.

Toni, you should be sick of turkey be now. I actually have a breast in the freezer which I plan to fix here this week.

Meowee, you need just to take some "me" time. No one else will do it for you.

Got to run. we have 2 bids going in today and it is getting crazy. Have a great week.

Toni48 12-02-2008 09:07 PM

Boy I'm beat the shopping trip was great and I had a good time.

Solly- We had soup tonight but I'm putting it in containers for the freezer tomorrow. Just a little left. Glad we like turkey....

meowee 12-03-2008 09:42 AM

Hi . . .

Almost finished with the wrapping -- hope to get the things that have to be shipped to the post office tomorrow.

Even though we are still having unseasonably mild weather I'm still starting to get the almost overpowering urge to BAKE that hits me every year. Wouldn't be too bad if it didn't seem to come with a companion urge to EAT. :s:

Have a good day . . . :carrot: . . . and he makes me think "carrot cake" today

ATSBeautiful 12-03-2008 08:40 PM

Hi Guys
I'm going on the yeast connection diet next Tuesday. My Doc really picked a heck of a time of year. LOL. Merry Xmas to me !! Can I join in with you all? I really need the support....No one in my home is happy about it.....I'm the head cook.LOL
Hope you all have a good night

Blessings
Mary

Toni48 12-03-2008 09:04 PM

:welcome: Mary, Good to have you here. Sorry we're awfully slow this time of year. But hang in here. You can do it and make good healthy meals for your family.

meowee 12-04-2008 10:20 AM

Hi there everybody . . . :grouphug: . . . and a big :welcome: to our newest member.

Toni48 12-05-2008 03:21 PM

Howdy hope everyone is doing fine. Not much going on at my place. Did some Christmas shopping. Think I'm done now.

ATSBeautiful 12-05-2008 09:26 PM

Thanks for the warm welcome !!!

I have to be honest & say ALL I want to eat is sweets...... now that doc says no way. Does everyone feel that way? It's on my mind constantly. In my family sweets are used as a "cure"/celebration. Depressed...eat cake, Happy..have a truffle...etc. It's been that way for as long as I've been alive and ashamedly I still eat sweets uncontrolably. Sorry for whining but I'm angry at the state I've put my body through & that there will be no Godiva this Christmas. :nono:

Well ,tuesday is approaching fast and I'm kind of excited in a very remote way. LOL I've heard the "side affect" of following the yeast connection cookbook is great weightloss and tons of energy.(After the Candida Cleanse) Yahooo!!!!

Blessings to You All,
Mary

Toni48 12-06-2008 02:07 PM

Hi Mary; Hope you can get off sweets. Maybe take 1 day at a time and see how you do with none. Sometimes I have to take an hour at a time to get me off the bad stuff. Sugar, white flour, white potatoes, white rice. It takes a couple of weeks to get out of your system but you'll feel so much better. You can do it!!!! Try fruits, veggies and whole grains along with lean meats.

Toni48 12-06-2008 11:19 PM

Been a nice Sat. Kind of lazy. I put a roast in the crockpot so we had that for dinner. Wish I had some salad stuff in this house. Will have to go to the store Monday and get some lettuce and stuff. The weather man is trying to say we'll get snow next week...

meowee 12-09-2008 08:07 AM

Solly 12-09-2008 11:28 AM

Hi ladies,

It's been a whirlwind weekend and I am glad it's over. We baked all day Sunday. Didn't do to do bad on the sampling of things.
I went to the gym last night and then again at 5:30 this morning. I like going in the mornings if I can get my lazy butt out of bed.

Pretty much done with shopping. I still have stocking stuff to buy. DH & I are not exchanging gifts since we are going to St Marteen in Jan. Of course I will have 1 or 2 things for him and a stocking.
Everything is wrapped and under the tree so I am hoping for some R&R until Christmas week. We do have to shop for our angel tree child, but that is always fun.

Toni, now don't you be taling snow. It is raining cats and dogs here today. Caling for 2-3 inches of rain. But it is 56 so it will remain rain. Thank goodness.

Meowee, sounds like you are caught up with your shopping and wrapping. Good for you.

Mary, Welcome to our group. Someone asked me once if I really wanted to lose wt or did I want to eat and drink? Sometimes you have to ask yourself which is more important and make that choice. Be prepared with your meals and when you go out. Plan ahead. You can do it, it takes a few days to get over the sugar cravings. Good luck.

Got to run. I still have tons of work to do. Have a great day

meowee 12-10-2008 10:00 AM

My back is feeling about 80% functional this morning and the really strange weather continues. After sunshine and a high of -9 yesterday; today we are supposed to get +13 and bunches of rain and wind (that's 16F yesterday and 55F today). The heaps of snow that were around yesterday have pretty much disappered again.

Nothing big in my plans . . . still have a little wrapping to do (local stuff) and will continue my reading and back resting that's been the story of my life for most of the week. Still taking the Robaxicet, of course. The added muscle relaxant in it really does seem to help.

Have a good day . . .

Toni48 12-10-2008 07:30 PM

I'm doing horrible and its hard to come here and post. Don't look like I'll do better till after the holidays are over. I just haven't got the will right now. Making taco salad for dinner without the shell....

meowee 12-11-2008 09:59 AM

Hi there . . .

Well after melting all the snow, the warmth decided to leave again and the constant rain turned to that most dreadful of the winter dreadfuls -- freezing rain -- which continued all night. Nothing is moving very far or very fast around the Maritimes this morning.

Hey, at least I still have power and heat which is not true for everywhere in the Province.

Try to have a good day everybody . . . :carrot:

ihsabhg 12-11-2008 01:26 PM

SB the 2nd x around

hiya... anyone have any hints about getting thru the holidays..... ?? any my doctor advised me to 'cheat' on one thing a week that i was realllly looking forward to.... any opinions on that concept ?? :^:

Toni48 12-11-2008 05:51 PM

Hello all....

ihsabhg- The only way I know is to plan your meals and snacks ahead and even plan your cheats. Take one day at a time and sometimes just one meal at a time. You can make a healthy Christmas dinner thats good. With turkey or turkey breast, whole wheat stuffing, some good veggies, deveiled eggs a raw veggie tray, all fruit salad with lite cool whip and a legal cheesecake or pumpkin pudding for dessert. Maybe a cranberry sauce made with splenda and some of your own ideas. You can do it. You'll have a head start on January 1st.....

Meowee- Stay warm and hopefully your power will stay on.

Solly and Mary where are you?? :xcheer::santa::present:

meowee 12-12-2008 08:08 AM

Well the roller coaster of weather continues -- high today is supposed to be around 15 to 18 C (or 60 to 65 F) -- guess the ice from yesterday will be gone again pretty quickly and I don't mind that at all.

Solly 12-12-2008 08:41 AM

Meowee, hope your back gets better soon. I know how you feel. Nothing worse than a sore back. We have lucked out and not had any snow other than flurries yet. My DD flew wo Worchester MA this morning and they were expecting about 2" of ice and then snow. Our city shuts down when we get snow but I assured her up north they clear the roads in no time.

Ish, plan ahead like Toni said. If you must cheat, make sure it does not lead to a binge and it stays at 1 small cheat. Once you cheat, it is hard to stop.
Ask yourslef what you want the most: that piece of candy, etc or to lose wt. Then go with what your answer is. Good luck.

Well this has beent he week from **** and I am so glad it is almost over. We willb e keeping my DD's 2 dogs this weekend while they go to Nashville so we will be stuck at home all weekend. I am already wondering what I will do with myself. Everything is wrapped and I won't be able to get out. I will go stir crazy.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Toni, one day at a time. One meal at a time. We can do this. It is so hard this time of year. All the goodies are pouring in the office. Luckily, we are getting lots of fruit also.

meowee 12-13-2008 09:04 AM

What a difference a day makes . . . 24 little hours . . . I know that Canadians are famous (or maybe that's infamous) for talking about our weather a lot; probably because we get so much of it. AtlantiCa is on the same roller-coaster. Yesterday we broke fifty-year-old records by hitting +20 C (68F). Today -- our high is going to be -2C (+28F) with a little snow before we also head back to about +10/11 C (+37F) for tomorrow. Oh well, out in Cold Lake, Alberta (where my oldest son is) today's high is going to be -25C (-13F); so guess I should be thankful for small mercies.

Well, I really have to go out and brave the cold and the crowds for a bit today since the larder is looking a little bare and I do have one more gift to get. So I'd best get moving in the hopes of beating the snow.

Have a great day . . . :carrot:
