Smile 8 lbs my first 2 weeks..

this is my first posting but have been reading here more than a week now and just love all the advice and the general mentality of everyone that the only way to accomplish your goals is to WORK for it..

I was 170lbs. before I had my daughter, then realized in at the beginning of january when she was 14 months that I was 4 pounds away from being at the weight I was when I gave birth. at 24 years, 5'5 and almost 200 pounds is not where I want to be.

made a real commitment and am now just starting to get in shape.. so far so good 2 weeks into my diet and excerise plan. I've lost 8 pounds. 4 this week and 4 last week. I'm assuming so much is because I went from no excerise and eating ANYTHING(probably around 2500 calories a day if not more.) I wanted to eating a combo of close to 30, 30, 40 of fat, protien, and carbs. and 1200 to 1400 calories, giving myself extra if I really workout hard that day. I love the fitday program.. really helps me keep track and know if I need more or less of something to stay withen my goal of.

I'm doing 20 minutes at least 6 days a week (30mins most days) on the elliptical and some weight lifting. I'm sure the rapid weight loss will drop down soon to my goal of 2 pounds a week if not less but loved the extra boost I got to get me started..

my diet is pretty easy. I could never follow those "plans" I just eat now what I like but change things to be more healthy. instead of just having a cheeseburger from burger king I eat at home having a vegan burger on whole wheat buns with 2% singles slice of cheese.. if I have pizza its one of those south beach diet frozen ones. Its really working for me. I eat 5 times a day and never feel hungery.

Congrats on your loss! I'd say that is great success and well worth your 1st post I too am using FitDay and it is a very useful tool... it really brings things into perspective. I'm not following any particular plan... just watching my calories in vs calories out and it's been working for me as well. Have you checked out the "Calories Counters KISS" thread. You might find it of interest. Here is a link if you have not already checked it out.

Calorie Counters KISS

Wishing you continued success!

Congratulations!! It's so satisfying to look at the numbers drop isn't it?!
I've dropped 5 lbs in just over a week, it's given me the motivation to keep at the gym! I love fitday too, it's great to keep an eye on what you eat and highlights the blips so you know when you're snacking and what on and how to avoid it!!

I thought this might give you a chuckle. When I realised that I was in trouble with my weight, I was 2 lbs heavier than I was at 9 1/2 months pregnant and toxic with my son .... and he was 21!

thanks everyone for the encourgement and crongrats.. I've read so many of the threads here and the overall feeling is that everyone is so into seeing each other succeed as much as themselves.. I have the same attitude. Seeing individual people dealing with the same battles as me can work towards and accomplish their own goals gives me so much encouragement that I can really do this too..

thanks to ladylane for that link.. I've read through so much of the threads all over the forum but I missed that one.

thank you everyone!!
