I work out 3-4 times per week. I am 141, hoping to reach goal of 125. I have become extremely flabby since losing the last 5 lbs. I read somewhere that this happens right before the last bits of fat melt away. Has anyone had experience with this? Is it true that a area becomes extremely jiggley right before the last of the fat disappears and then tightens up?
Sharost, sorry to say that I cannot answer your question -- though I have heard that you can appear more flabby right before a loss. Are you weight-training? Because without muscle, you'll still appear flabby and feel fat, even at your goal weight. Anyways, you might get a better response rate on a different part of the boards, like "exercise" maybe, or "support"? Good luck!
Sharost, I think this differs greatly from one person to another. I've been researching it, and am not entirely happy with what i have found. It's going to depend on how your body reacts, and adjusts to your weight loss. With me, I know I looked and felt so much firmer when I weighed 315 than I do now at 191.5! I feel like a grocery bag which has been emptied.....People have told me that water helps your skins elasticity a lot. I know most of us realize the importance of water. It also seems age has a lot to do with it. I'm 43...and am realizing I can never be as firm as I wish. But, what we can do is keep working those muscles, and getting stronger. And just take what comes.
Thanks for the reply. I am finding that in most places, where the fat is pretty much gone; it is like the skin re-adheres itself to the body. I am most concerned about the upper abdominal area, where I still have some really jiggley stuff. I was encouraged today, however, when my 21 year old daughter observed that the "sagginess" at the top of my knees had tightened up a lot. When I looked, I could see it too! I do lift weights 3-4 times per week, which really has helped. I love seeing the little fat pockets getting smaller.
