Default Don't ever give up!

Hi all.. I have a short and sweet success story.. I haven't yet reached my goal.. but I know that I will... in time.

I joined this forum back in March of this year. I started my dieting and exercising and lost about 5 pounds.. I hit a plateu and went into depression. I gained all my weight back with my "comfort foods" and I withdrew myself from everything. I gave up too darn easily.

In May, I went to my family reunion. We took loads of pictures and of course some were took of myself. After I got home and viewed the pictures.. I couldn't believe how big I actually was. Well, in my eyes anyway.

I decided I need to stop feeling sorry for myself and do something about it.

SO, I looked into the low carb thing.. I found out I could eat all the meat I wanted and there was plenty of foods and recipes I could try and stay within my carb limit. I was happy about that Plus I started going to our local gym.. Which is FREE of charge to us Military dependents so I might as well take advantage of that..

So far since May 30th.. I've lost 13 pounds and I couldn't be happier with myself.

The moral of this story, don't ever give up and find something that works for you! It will happen, you just have to be patient!

Thanks for letting me share my story.

Great job, I have a similar story: my SIL took pictures of me at a wedding dance (I thought I looked good, dressed up and all) but when I saw those pics-YUCK! I then heard that WW was starting in my city, so I joined. My starting weight was 209-I never owned a scale and about cried when I found out I was over 200#, so I took the bull by the horns and stuck to the program, today I weighed in at 145#. What a feeling...and there's another wedding dance on August 12th, bring on those cameras!

Good for you!! Yeah, sometimes all it takes is looking at a picture of yourself to get some fire under your rear!

I thought I had looked good too.. I was all dressed up ready to go to the reunion... Boy was I wrong.. When I loose more weight.. I'll be glad to share a "then and now" picture with you all.

Is there a forum or thread somewhere to share before and after pictures?

That's how I started my program again. I was at a my fiance's grandmother's house and usually I dont have my picture taken but some dumb#$% brought a camera (I think it was me) and when then film was developed I looked at my picture (I always think of myself as being smaller than I am ) I was so sickened! There was a shot of me from behind and sitting down as well as one of me eating ofcoarse. It was right then that I decided to go on the program I am on now. I have posted the pictures on my fridge to remind me what I do not want to look like ever ever again. I started last Thursday and have loss 7.4 lbs since. And I feel great most of the time just knowing that I am doing something about it.

Hey trixie, make sure you are eating healthy, don't starve yourself-that's alot of weight you've lost in a short period. Take it day by day, if you mess up-just start over and make good choices.

I returned a size 10 pair of jeans yesterday-they were too big! I got into an eight! Now that's a good feeling!

I go to a clinic every other day and must keep a journal of what I eat and drink so that they can monitor me. I also get vitamin injections for a little extra boost. Congrats on your new jeans! I hate returning things but would do it in a minute if I had the same situation

Good gravy Shelley, I live in Memphis! Mine is retired Navy and our last duty station before he retired (he was an avionics instructor) was Nav Memphis (back then anyway!)

As for the thread topic, I have lost around 90 so far and my beginning reason was not pics but the fact that I was having trouble walking around on the concrete floors of Lowes (we had just bought a condo and were updating) DH suggested I use one of the scooters they provide and boy THAT DID IT FOR ME!

I have gotten sloppy, but after news from my son last night that he is asking his girlfriend to marry him and they are getting married next spring, I am hugely motivated to kick butt! I was a size 34 at my daughter's wedding 7 years ago and looked like a huge pepto bismal blimp! I want to be an 18 for the wedding (I am a 22-24 now) and since dh said skie's the limit for my dress I have already started scouting!

Good luck to everyone!

Faye

Loosing 90 pounds.. that is fantastic!! I have faith that you will be the size you want by the time Spring rolls around.. You can do it!

Congradulations on the upcoming marriage, btw! You must be so excited!

Shelley: That would be great! I am not working right now and I see that you are so anytime would be a-ok with me. When dh and I were first in the Navy, we lived in Millington in what was called mudflats. If you go out of the front gate and turn left, they would have been on the left side. They were little duplexes and they have all been torn down now. I think it is just empty lots there. The commissary was NEW when we were stationed there the second time. The old commissary was on north side and the last time I ever saw it, it was some kind of gocart race course or something. The hospital was fully staffed and running too. The one thing that hasn't changed much in the 31 years is the exchange. I live out in the Hickory Hill area of Memphis. Anyway, I will pm you some info if you ever want to get together.
