Default Tuesday Chick Chat

Morning chicks thought that I would get us up and running this morning. I actually got up early and it makes such a difference. No panic children and I seem to have a few minutes to myself. Go figure I am still feeling rather yucky today my cold has moved from my head to my chest. I guess I will live off of advil cold and sinus for another day or two. I have not been beach friendly these days but I have been trying to watch what I put in my mouth. Well I must dash as the girls need their lunch money and run for the bus...... What's up on your part of the beach today? Hope it is a great one.

Terrrrifiiiic Tuesday Everyone Up up up! Daylights a Burnin Beachcombers!!!!!

LC: So good to see you back ! Try to take it easy today..

RNMOM: And how is my patient this morning? Did you fill my Rx? If you're still tired and yer dogs are still barkin' Dr. Schatzi orders 2 days of REST and pampering!

Barb: Glad U R Back tooo... so how was Wood badge training and what project do you have now???

Ruth: Is our hunky Slav Rrrrrrrooooooommmmano coming back today? STATUS UPDATE!!!!!

Me: Well I will attempt to once again visit the Village Salon to repair my hair.. DH just doesn't understand how getting your hair styled/ body waved and what not can cost like $200... Now I only do this maybe once a year but still the cost gives him sticker shock! As for my on going battle against the FROGS and TOADS... my Bucket traps aren't working! So... last night, DH being the anal retentive analytical type surfed the net to find all the variety of frogs and toads in NC... Well, I was subjected to listening to "clips" of frog sounds..which gave me the heebyjeebies... Here's my DH, squinting and cocking his head..listening intently to EACH and EVERY frog.. "rrrt rrt rrt "..Hmmm , No,no, that's not it...ERRRRRRRRIT ERITTTTICKICKICK..no, Thats not it" WHAT THE HOODLEDOO! ...Yes Folks, I know, I know, the fun never stops at the Schatzi household..

Shhhhh, Schatzi! Little Chick is convalescing. Try to keep the noise down!

It's cold in here this morning and I can't run the furnace. Well, I could but I really don't want my kitchen full of smoke and fumes! I am hoping the chimney lads can come today and put in the liner but am not counting on it. I whined and whimpered to Angela the job booker yesterday but they are busy with other jobs. I'll call again shortly. It's not the cold so much as the lack of hot water that's the worst.

Not much on the schedule today although I may start fall cleanup outside. It's time to order firewood because my Naked Ladies are in bloom! I have a Country Christmas meeting at seven tonight so we are moving into Winter, alas!

What's happening at your end of The Beach?

Good morning, gals! I'm working from home today and have a parent/teacher conference in a half hour so I'll be popping out for a bit.

Schatzi - Wood Badge training was wonderful. I really think all Cub Scout/Boy Scout/Venturer/Varsity leaders should take it. I can't wait to get back for the last three days. We had so much email flying around yesterday among most of our patrol (the five leaders in my group plus our troop guide). We have a senior member in our group. He's 70 and has over 50 years in scouting. We've been working hard to get him to accept the help he needs (like rides for long distances) but we're glad to have him on our team. He started in the Sea Scouts back long before I was born. Every patrol has to put together a project and a 15 minute oral presentation that describes some aspect of the four branches of scouting. Since the theme of Wood Badge 76 is "Planting Acorns", we are focusing on how Cub Scouting is the start and then the boys graduate to Boy Scouts and then the Venturers and Varsity are for the older boys. We are focusing on raising the boys to be the future leaders of tomorrow. We are displaying this as a tree with four large branches. The roots represent the foundations of scouting - parent, adult leaders, unit committee and chartering organization. I got the felt yesterday and have the task of building most of the display. Tonight is a pack meeting and it will be fun to have the four leaders from our pack who were at the training show up wearing our Wood Badge neckerchiefs and woggles. I bet we can get some leaders interested in this. Although we still have a lot of work to do on our "ticket" items, which are our individual projects.

Little Chick - Hope you feel better soon. I do like getting up early enough to not be rushed.

Ruth - How can it be Fall when we are still in the mid-90's? Actually I'm hearing that it is supposed to cool down soon. That would be nice.

kyemom - Sometimes I double a recipe to have enough leftovers to freeze. I do that to the Broccoli Cheese Soup since it freezes so well.

No wonder Ruth likes it here. You women are GREAT!!!!
Thanks for the morning smiles!!

It's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood....
It rained ALL day yesterday right into the evening. It got cold and blustery. I LOVE this weather!!
It is 8c/46F this morning. I actually put on long pants this morning. Mostly cause it looks funny taking the kids out to the bus when I am in shorts and everyone else in in coats, LOL.

4 little guys all day, 5 big kids in school, all 9 for an hour at 3:30.
The “diet”.....
I try to follow the Canada food guide but i have not been. Veggies low and starches and fats way up. I have been reading up on SB. The principals make sense. I will try out some recipes too. I have been living off of sandwiches for a few months.
Basically i am revisiting the whole food thing because I have time to focus on myself right now.
Yesterday I did have 1/2 a multigrain bagel at lunch and it did taste like more but I resisted. For supper I had a chicken pot pie with a whole yellow pepper. I know not SB but i am getting there, no fries or potato with it. Still way better. I think I need some almonds in the house. I have a little guy here with a nut allergy. I will have to be super careful about them. DH keeps his in his car and eats them at work.

I had a great day yesterday. 6 kids most of the day.DH was home because of steady rain and worked on installing the bathroom sink!!! Just waiting for a seal to set and then we can use running water in our upstairs bathroom!!!!!!!!!!! weehee. it’s been 5 years without a sink up there.
At 5 the boys went to hockey practise and DD went home with a friends for supper and play. I puttered at Avon, watched a soap and relaxed a bit. Then i worked on final revisions of the parent handbook. I had a great chat with the school board media guy!! We may be in print next week!!

I firmly told my mom we were not coming for thanksgiving dinner on the 9th( Oct) but would come for lunch on Monday for some leftovers.( she emailed 6 times).
We really want to spend two days home uninterupted just the 4 of us.
The traffic in here is crazy some days.We were planning on three. Two in a row is better than nothing.

I have all the order books ,campaign books, and how to info ready for the Playschool. They start using Avon catologue shopping for their fundraising. The is a ton of potential in this for everyone!! I will take the 4 little people with me to stuff the mailboxes and then play at the park in town this morning.

Gotta get the kids dressed, teeth and hair brushed, lunches whipped up..........

Have a brisk day, woohoo!!

Morning chicks!

Ruth - Yes it is cold here too! I actually have socks and shoes on. First time since last spring. Not cold enough for heat here but I'm enjoying the excellent sleeping weather.

Schatzi - I once turned my hair green. Dark forest green.

Little chick- Feel Better!!!!

Barb - DS doesn't start scouts until football is over.

kye - I know what you mean about the breakfast thing. I have to make myself eat.

I'm on the run again chicks! It's always bad when my cell phone starts ringing at 6:30 am. The darling football coach was darling last night. I really wish I wasn't 5 years older than he is. My weight was the same this morning. I guess when I sample wine I have to make the commitment that my weight won't budge for a couple of days. Have an OP day!

Morning Chickies!
littlechick - I do love a little extra time in the morning. Seems to make the whole day better when the am isn't so hectic. Feel better - don't forget your vit C!
Schatzi, you crack me up! I can just imagine what that sounded like. Did he identify "your" species?
kyemom - way to go! I have 2 lbs by Friday - we BOTH can do this! I do eggs in the microwave with some soy sausage mornings and it's pretty quick. Luckily I like eggs, some days I do eggbeaters with chives, some days I add salsa, or onion, or turkey bacon to liven it up.
Barb - the wood badge training does sound like great fun and very interesting.
Holly - glad to see you over here. I'm thrilled about your sink - that must have been a big hassle to not have one up there. Way to go on the family, I cut mine off for about 6 months one time and it straightened them out for life. Forced them to accept I was an adult with my own choices and they'd better respect that! Hopefully your Mom will learn that quickly.
Anchor - No worries, lady, I'm 9 yrs older than DH and it works out just fine.
Ruth - you poor thing, no hot water would just make me miserable! Maybe one of your friends would put you up overnight? Though I know you wouldn't leave the girls now, would you? Hang in there.
I am at work goofing off on here, but getting down to it in a minute or so. Today's an off day for walking, trying to heal my shin splints. One exercise for it and my ankles are to trace the alphabet in the air with my toes. My little boy who is 2 today, thought it was the funniest thing ever! He is such a little riot, he loves to laugh. I was very good yesterday, inspired by my weigh-in. Now I'm honor-bound to stay OP the rest of the week and see if I can't hit that Sept goal - it will be the first time ever that I made a monthly weight loss goal that I set! Lots of water too!
Have a great Tuesday!

I promised Miss Moderator-extradinaire that I will keep it down. I will try to stay away from EXCLAMATIONS!!!!!!! and L A R G E fontage...(Sigh, not gonna happen..LC dim your monitor! . )

Kye: Mucho Luck on the next round of interviewing! Seeeeee that, one door opens when another closes!
Barb: That sounds like a great metaphor for scouting and raising the next gen.. It sounds like a great time was had by all...Now how could a 70 yr old Not want the help of beautious women! He'll come around!

HH: We coud sure use some cooling round these parts..gonna be 84 today.. sounds like you have a chockful day planned! Try SB.. I'm sure you'll find your weight will drop and you will get an energy boost as well..(White withdrawls aside)

Amy: 5 years taint nuttin' and with that there BoooooTox head, I'm sure you look 5 years younger than Coach... Good luck darlin.. hmm we could have gone to a football game where the colors are green and orange..and drink some winos to boot..now That would be fun!

Soon: you are such a goooood daughter - hope DDad will be okey doke as an artichokey!!!
Otto: We think its an American Bull toad or somethin like that...I don't really give a rat's arse what they are... as I told DH the toads are all poisonous! The got these parotid glands that secrete some toxin so when the dogs try to mouth them the girls end up with frothy mouths.. and it could cause cardiac arrythmias and death! I'm like I don't care ..lets get some Toad Togo..or whatever..

Alrighty then, I had a sourdough english muffin with lf Ccheese and sliced tomato.. so I'm gassed up and ready to hit the road!

(Ruthie, I tried really I did! Please don't kick me off the boards

CIAO FOR NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!![

I missed you all this weekend!! I was only able to pop on long enough to see what was going on and I still think I missed some stuff. I will get myself up to date later today. Hugs to you all!!!!

I went to my moms this weekend and did fairly well. I made OP meals for dinners and even made the bean brownies for everyone (they loved them and I still have not told my dh that there are beans in them). I did have a few slip ups with the hersheys minitures that my mom keeps on the counter. The sugar made me feel really sick to my stomach though so it was not worth the yum at all.

This weeks goal is to try to get my kids to eat more veggies with me. My dd will only eat broccoli and carrots raw with ranch dressing but my ds Beren will eat more veggies than that. He does prefer raw over cooked though. His favs are broccoli and salad stuff like fresh spinich and romaine. I guess it's my dd I want to work on. I want at least one kid who will eat green beans, okra, asperagus, or greens with me
. I think that c\gonna be just a dream.

I have Julia home again today since we're having our 2 days off here in GA. She is already making her christmas list! She keeps coming in to ask me how to spell things for her. Toys, candy, list, barbie, castle, and sparkle are just a few of the words... I can't wait to read her list .

Well, baby is calling (and smelling ) so I am off for now. Hugs to you all!!!
