Welcome Penny!

Little Chick you are amazing. I will strive to accomplish that much in my day today (that is, what you have accomplished in an hour!)

No exercise for me today except for housecleaning. That darn kickboxing workout on Sunday is still killing me! I worked out yesterday, but I think I just made matters worse so I am taking today off! Except for maybe taking the dog for a walk later.

I am on plan today girls, lets hope I...and we, stay there! We can do it!

Good morning all! I have been working 7 days week for the last couple of weeks and have not had much time to take care of myself, so I fell off program for a while. I only gained back two pounds, so today I start fresh! Funny, that pizza didn't taste all that great to me! Looking forward to my nice OP lunch!

Wink

Just wanted to say hi to all, I am new to the beach and have been reading. Mind if I join in? I am especially interested in the calcuim topic. I have been taking calcium citrate with vitamin D since I started menopause. I take it for my bones, I have not noticed that it has helped weight loss and I have been taking it for six years. I will warn you that I have to take Metamucil once a day since I started on the calcium. For Bamiegurl, when I started having cramping in my left calf during the night I started taking a potassium tablet daily. It stopped the cramping immediately. If I fall of back comes the cramping. So I just take one a day now. Hopefully, my comments will be of help. I really enjoy reading the posts and have learned a lot in a short time.

Mary Helen~~You're right about calcium being constipating (to some). I take calcium also, and twice a week i substitute it with a combo pill of calcium/magnesium/zinc. The mag helps with the constipation. Thank gogodness because i hate metamucil.

Hi all! I finally got a chance to check in. On the calcium....take the pills with food or you will get upset tummy/nausea. I find that the chewable vitacal ones work best for me.

Well gotta run DH is home so can't stay on computer long will try to check in later

KIDS
sorry girls I just had to get that out. My dd who is 13 going on 30 is being a brat. My dd who is 10 thinking she is 15 is being sassy. They are making me so crazy that I want to SSCCRREEAAMM will I ever get through these years. I guess that as parents we are not susposed to make any rules. Did anyone else know this. Sorry girls but I had to vent. I actually feel a wee bit better now. My sweet little girls can be so hurtful. Makes me very sad.

I did manage to have an OP day. Despite the stresses in my life my kids the community center, the principal at our school. I have a migraine. I think I will go to bed.

Dnya- I am saying prayers for you as well. Try not to over think things.

To the newbies MaryHelen, mompen, welcome to the beach.

Talk to ya later girls.

Darn! I saw the calcium with mag/zinc! I should have picked it up! Thanks for the info, girls.

Okay, the article is in Alternative Medicine. The March issue.
"... when calcium levels are low, a substance called calcitriol rushes through the bloodstream and tells our fat cells to stop breaking down fat and to start storing it as efficiently as possible. Basically, the body goes into a kind of starvation mode that thwarts our efforts to lose weight. A high-calcium diet, on the other hand, tells the calcitriol to back off, allwoing the metabolism to speed up." etc.

recommended doses: 1000 mg for men and women under 50, and 1200mg for those over 50. (that'll be you, soon, Sil. snort)

DON'T take over 2500mg per day... it may interfere with the way the body absorbs iron and zinc and may increase the risk of kidney stones.
