Morning ladies! Ok I know I am not the only one up this early...where is everyone? I don't like to talk to myself
I was doing real good yesterday all day until hubby picked me up from work and wanted to go to the chinese restaurant. He knows I can't say no to chinese food But today is a new day soooo we started again
We're expecting some freezing rain/snow late tonight. I'm so excited...I feel like a kid! I just want a day off from work!
Hi Ms24 I am here! Just off to an afternoons work though. Isn't it interesting when people do things like that Chinese meal thing? The person I share a house with came home from a business trip to Italy and said 'I have got you a present' and it was no less than a pound ( ) of Italian cheese.
Now what is that all about??!!
I said 'thank you' and put it in the fridge where I will resist it and gaze upon it as proof that if you want a job done, you have to do it yourself.....
I have bought strawberries for choc covered strawberries for Valentines day dinner. Although the date on them is 13th Feb so I might have to do a test run first......
What do you all think about the 'Dr Atkins put on 60lbs when unconscious in hospital' story? Or will 3FC get in to dreadful trouble if we enter the debate (you remember that I am from Europe where we have folk memory of state controlled news media..... )
I was just reading the Dr. Atkins thing...all of his heart disease and everything is very interesting. I guess that's why it's good that we aren't doing the all fat no carb thing! I actually have a friend who has been very successful on Atkins weight wise, he's done it for about a year now, but he has started having chest pains. I think that's insane.
I also bought strawberries, and am going to buy some good chocolate today to make chocolate dipped strawberries. I think that will be a nice treat!
The weather here is snowy but still not as cold, and I am pleased about that.
Ms24Gal, it's hard when people have good intentions, but those good intentions screw up YOUR good intentions. I see that alot, especially at my work. I had a similar experience where a friends Mom took me out to lunch and didn't even think about the fact that SBD might be an issue, we went to this great hamburger place, and I just ordered the no bun no fries and wouldn't let myself be embarrassed. I guess it's so prevalent now, the no carb thing, that we can get away with a lot more. So in those situations, I just try to mitigate the damage. But today is another day, and I know you can do it!!!
I am just rambling on here, so off to the salt mines...
Happy Wednesday Ladies!
Well, we've made it half-way thru another week, and we're ALL behaving!
Just think...we're almost 1/2 way thru February...just a couple more months until GLORIOUS spring!!! I know that I, for one, do NOT want to sport jiggly upper arms again this spring! I HATE that!!! Ughhh!
Oh Clovey, the chocolate covered strawberries will be lovely for Valentine's Day! How utterly romantic...some champagne would be a nice accompaniment, I think! Ahhhh...amore....
I just found a sexy little RED dress yesterday on SALE for $10!!! It is sleeveless (damn jiggly arms!)...but maybe if I throw a shawl around my shoulders....it goes fabulously with the sexy candy apple red pumps my DBF bought for me last weekend on our shopping outing...and then again..maybe it'll be too over the top, all red...my 6 year old daughter said, "Mom, it IS Valentine's Day, you HAVE to wear all red!" I love the way kids think! She's my biggest fan & I'm hers!
I am debating having some lucious dessert on Valentine's evening after dinner at our favorite place....would that be horrible? And then get right back on track the next day? Any opinions?
Well girls...better get to work before the boss catches me kvetching on line!
Happy Hump Day!
Jan
Morning my dear chickies. I have a bit more time today. Things seem to be a bit settled today. Dad is upstairs have a little power snooze and the kids are watching a movie. I have eggs on the stove boiling as I have to make sandwhiches for tomorrow for the reception. Things were pretty good last night. As this was the first time most of them have been together since our family reunion this summer. I still have to more Aunts that are due to fly in today, Tomorrow will be the worst. Thanks girls for all your love and support it means alot to me. I have been giving it to my dad so it is nice to get some in return.
Pebbles- YGG training for a triathatlon. You can do it. We will help keep you in line. I wish I had the determanation to train for anything I can barely exercise.
Den- glad that you dad is doing better. It is so h ard when we have to start worry about our parents. It seems weird to have that turn around. Take good care of your mom. Jan- go for the red from top to bottom look. I am not sure what our Vday plans are DH had a romantic night planned after the kids went to bed but with my Dad home I am not sure what we are going to do. I bought a sexy new nightie but may have to keep that for another time. Ellis- we have a huge family well over 200 people and we are quite close surprisingly although we do have a rift or two in the family for the most part it is pretty cool to have such a large clan. My poor DH has a hard time his family is not quite so large. well I must go and get some stuff done my Sister and her family are arriving this afternoon so I must try to get things in order before they get here. Hopefully I can get back in today or tomorrow. A big hello to all you other chicks just don't have anymore time to post to each and everyone. [/COLOR][/

I was up around 5 but my morning routine has changed a bit and I don't get in here as early. Steve, the guy next door, has been coming over around 6 to shower as his water system is toast! (He was away for a week and, although he had someones check the heat, he left a tap running a bit and blew his pump! All his pipes are frozen right to the well and nothing can be done until spring when there will be major repair and excavation!)
I had the dump pick-up stuff out at the road before eight and was off to the car dealer to get my blower fixed. It sure got the day off to an early start!
Motts, excited about freezing rain and snow? It's nice to know you still have an inner child. I must admit, I get excited over the first snowflake too! I get realy excited over Chinese food too!
Clovey, Italian cheese! I love the stuff. Maybe you can sneak in bits of it here and there on Phase II.
Overfedup, just put that pile of work in your outbasket. It'll take a day to come back. I actually know someone who used to do that to buy some time. He was fired eventually.
Dynagirl, I guess we'd better not start a debate on the Atkins diet or we'll have a problem. I do agree that SBD is a much healthier plan BUT lots of people have lost lots of weight on Atkins with no ill effects.
Little Chick, I'm thinking of you as you go through this difficult time.
January, go for the all red outfit. Your DD is right.
Big wave to all I've missed. Now it's time to drink another bottle of water before I go out to clear more snow.
Ms24-I'm with Ruth!!! We have had SO MUCH freezing rain and snow this year (with NO school closings!!!) that I am fed up with it!!! Once winter is over we will have 3 months of mud, and then a hot and humid summer following....WELL, maybe a big snow storm would be okay after all!!! I love Chinese food too. I keep on saying that I will try to stick to SBD as closely as possible while there, but then I WANT the egg roll and the rice and the.....
Clovey-YUM!!! The chocolate covered strawberries sound WONDERFUL!!! It is strange having friends bring massive food gifts when you are dieting, isn't it?
Of course I ALSO don't like it when my MIL offers everyone BUT me dessert... leave it up to ME to make the choice please!!!
January-YES!!! Wear the red dress AND the red shoes!!! Sounds like a sexy, fun time!!! Enjoy your Valentine's day!!!
Little Chick-YUP!! I'm glad to be able to help my parents out, but it sure is difficult to see signs of deterioration. I know tomorrow will be difficult for you. Hope it helps a bit to know there is a BUNCH of women out here in cyberland thinking about you.
Ruth-YIKES!!! No water until spring? What a PAIN!!!! It is nice of you to share yours!
HI!!! to Overfeduo, Dynagirl, Ellis, Sil, and all the other beach beauties posting later today!!!
Hey ladies!
Every time I try to read all the posts my cat tries to climb on top of my laptop. He's SO needy! I just wanted to pop in and say hi as I am about to leave to meet my friend at the gym. I am gonna do weights and treadmill today. Yesterday was just a quick workout w/ 10 min on the eliptical machine and 10 min on the treadmill. Man, those eliptical machines kick my butt! Tomorrow I am gonna take a water ballet class. Doesn't that sound fun! I love my gym because it's all women and over half are overweight! So I don't feel out of place like my old gym. Talk to you all later.
Oh, and January definately all red and I would eat the dessert. Don't beat yourself up over indulging every now and then as long as its few and far between!
MS24Gal, I love chinese food too! Could eat it every day, twice a day. We went for chinese last night as well. I had egg drop soup/no egg roll/my "happy family" meal that has chicken, shrimp, scallops, broccoli, and mushrooms in a brown sauce and I didn't eat any rice with it. Except for the added salt (no msg) that really isn't a bad meal. You just have to deal with retaining a little water the next day!!
Good morning to everyone! Amidst our painting of the bedroom, we've decided to post pone our training for three days. I hate starting something when I feel things are astray.
Clovey - schafenberger - CHOCOLATE it is like $10/package, but great!
January - FAB on the dress. First I love red, and we all know I love to shop. Or maybe just addicted to shopping.
Little Chick - we'll all be cheering for you tomorrow on your difficult day.
I had a dream!!! I was wearing a dress that I had one when I met my DH. It fit great - this obviously means I was thinner. It is from Banana Republic, and their clothes are cut so slim. Anyway, just thought that I would keep you updated on the crazy dreams.
Ruth, I wasn't trying to start an Atkins debate. For my friend that's been doing it for a year, he has been having chest pains, but he desperately had to lose weight for health reasons. I just was saying that in relation to the articles that are all over the place today. I know it has helped a lot of people, I have several friends who have done it, kept off the weight, and feel great.
Sorry...
And January, rock your red outfit! Feel great in it! A little sparkle on the arms always makes me feel better about my own jiggle,
Dynagrrl, I think we all have the same opinion of Atkins. Sure, we'd LOVE to eat cream and butter, but it just doesn't feel right. I'm not trying to start a debate, by the way.
Littlechick, continued prayers for you and your family.
Hi to everyone! Just popping in... having a bad day, but wanted to send my love. (and reassure Dynagrrl. heh heh)
I know you characters were not wanting to start a debate. I was just worried about some of the died-in-the-wool Atkins types popping in here and starting something. People can get pretty darn defensive about food!
After Hershey's "job" today, I finally took her to be weighed at the vet's office. She is 59.7 pounds so it's got to be real diet city around here for her. I am seriously considering putting her on a low carb plan because she has to get at least ten pounds off by summer! There's a kennel near here that has a treadmill programme for dogs. Whadaya think, eh?
Would you believe the elusive Kevin showed up today and put up my light over the sink? Next on the list is venting the downstairs bathroom. He is going to be working next door on restoring the water starting tomorrow. Poor Steve has decided he can't live without water until spring and a guy with a backhoe is coming to dig up the well in the morning. Well, at least we'll know how deep the frost is in the ground!
I am dying for some carbs right now but am glugging water instead. I found a single Smartie in the car and showed great control in not eating it so I should be able to hold out until dinnertime at 6:30. Tell me I can!
Ruth -
When we got back from Europe our house sitter had fattened our weimaraner up like crazy. We walked in the first thing we both said was - SHE'S FAT. No, we didn't realize that while vacationing we brough a good 15 pounds on our hips - but we noticed 4 pounds on that little porker.
I don't know what type of gravy train our house sitter was running, but we slimmed her down. The best was when my DH fed her for the first time she looked up like "Where's the rest???"
Great job with the Smartie. I had vicki mints in my purse and they must really get me, because I ate the whole tin. They have aspertame so I'm ok for SBD, but must not buy those again. Darn Victoria's Secret's adorable mints shaped like corsets.!!!
