Default New to South Beach Diet

Hello Everyone,

I am new to 3 Fat Chicks forums and am on my 6th day of the
South Beach Diet. I need to loose a lot of weight. I am just
trying to hang on and make the first two weeks. I am the
person described in the South Beach Diet book. I have the
high cholestrol, small cholestrol, overweight, and pre-diabetic.
I lost a brother and a sister within one week of each other from
sudden heart attacks. It is time for me to get serious about
weight loss.

I look forward to this forum to keep me going.

Thanks.

Welcome Toots!! It's so nice to meet you! Wow, you sound so much like me....high cholesterol, insulin resistant, a lot of pounds to lose, family history of diabetes. I'm very sorry about your brother and sister, what a terrible experience for you and your family.

This is most definitely the best way of life for me, and I hope you will find that it is for you also. I lose weight slowly, but have lost 21 pounds in less than three months, so I'm very happy about that!

And I think you'll love this site and the wonderful ladies who post here! You'll find lots of great advice, support, understanding, and the occasional kick in the pants when you need it. I know it's one of the things that keeps me going!

Post often, and join us on the Daily thread, the daily Just Chat, the daily Boot Camp, or feel free to start any thread yourself.

Thank all of you for the warm welcome. I am really struggling
with breakfast. I am not an egg eater. Basically I am forcing
down an egg, candanian bacon and a few mushrooms. I can't
say that I am enjoying it. Any suggestions?
I've got to make it for my health and I know I can especially with
support from all of you.
Thanks.

Toots, welcome to South Beach. I'm so very sorry about your brother and sister. How devastating for you and your family.

Breakfasts... my DH usually makes us a frittata in the morning with LOTS of vegetables in it. The egg is barely noticible. He puts white onions, mushrooms, garlic, red/yellow/green pepper, celery, etc into it.
You COULD just have a vegetable stir-fry for breakfast without the eggs. In fact, you can pretty much substitute anything for your breakfast, as long as it's on-plan. Sometimes I'll have a leftover chicken breast from the night before.

Good luck, hon!

Thanks for the welcome.

Being a single mom means I have to cook for myself. That may
be part of the problem since I really don't like eggs.

I will try the veggies in it to see if that helps. I am going to stick
to it and lose for good this time. Keep me going, please.

Hi Toots: Welcome. Sorry to hear of your family tragedy. But glad to hear you have taken that as your 'wake-up' call.
This is a great place for support and to get your questions answered. I kept telling myself I could do anything for two weeks, eggs and all, but the more I kept dressing up the eggs with all sorts of veggies, and spinach, etc. the easier it got to eat them. I also used the egg whites for an egg white ommelette with lots of cheese and mushrooms. You will make it. And you can substitute other OP stuff for breakfast too.

You'll make it, and this is a good place to get help, support and even a good place to vent. Lizzie

Lizzie,

Thanks for the welcome. I do think I can make it.

I actually turned down homemade chocolate pound cake and
Italian Cream Cake in the office today. Both are one of my
favorites.

For that I give myself a pat on the back.

Thanks again for the support.

Hello

Lady Toots - One thing I did for breakfast was eat low fat turkey breast w/ mozz cheese... I just rollled the meat & put the cheese in the middle. This really worked for me when I was in a hurry.

WTG for passing up the cakes. You definitely deserve a pat on the back
