Well, I have not been doing well at all, food plan-wise. I hope you are both doing better than me Muffin and Lisaward! It sounds like from your postings that you have both gotten back on track and I need to get there with you! I am hoping that the weather cooling down will inspire me to get out walking more again. I always seem to naturally eat better when I am more active. It helps my mood and my motivation. Kind of makes me wonder why I have to fight so hard to get motivated in the first place. Kind of a vicious circle, I think. But today is the start of a new month with cooler nights, even though we are going to be in the 90's here again this weekend. Come on fall! 🍁 🍂 🍁

Yikes! Everything is loading so slowly here and there seems to be a lot more spammer-type posts that don't seem to be being removed. I wonder if that means that this forum is no longer being maintained and it is slowly going to fade away? I sure hope not! I know that there aren't anywhere near the number of users that it had in its heyday, when other social media expanded and commercial diet websites like Zoom and Fitbit were developed, but it definitely has appeal and probably needs some promotion to get it more active again. I know that I appreciate having it here and I know that there are still people who regularly post that would miss it. I'll cross my fingers and hope that it is a transition period of some sort that will get straightened out soon!

On the healthy eating front, September is not going well. I had great intentions starting out and then my husband made a trip to Costco and came home with, well I won't even mention the food porn, but let's just say that it was BAD and I did not resist. Ugh. The good and bad news is, it's almost all gone now. I have GOT to do better. I feel lousy! Onward and downward, right?

Hi Muffin! Hi Lisaward! I hope that you are both doing better than me! Drop in and give me a I sure need it! And welcome to anyone else who wants to post!

Hello, I had all the intentions to post every day but then life got in the way and well, I didn't. I'm also struggling... I was doing good until DH decided that we visited DS1 in college this past weekend. I didn't eat too bad but I did have ice cream and since then I have been having lots of cravings, this week I keep telling myself, I'm going to eat on plan but then I proceed to eat lots of carbs By the way, DS1 is doing great and he seems to be very happy

MJMS- I'm also like you, when I'm more active I also want to eat healthier. I just don't understand why is so hard to keep it up. I do so well for a few months and then I go back to my old habits.

I'm always making excuses and I'm really tired of making excuses. I wanted to be under 200lbs by the end of the year and I don't see that happening but I'm not going to quit. Every day is a new day full of possibilities and I just need to keep fighting for what is important to me... my health.

Muffin, such true words you have written! "Every day is a new day full of possibilities and I just need to keep fighting for what is important to me... my health." So wise! I wish I had the answer for why I keep backsliding, too. It is such a struggle, and I am my own worst enemy (with a little help from my husband)! That is wonderful that your son is doing well in college, but I thought that from what you have written about your boys, that he would do great!

Birthday season is done around here. All 4 grandsons have birthdays starting with May and then my daughter, myself and my husband. So, no occasions that I know of right now that will be tempting, just the day-to-day stuff. I am clearing out the temptations around here and that will help. The kitchen is still upended with the seemingly never-ending backsplash tiling project. I wanted to hire out, but my husband insisted that he wanted a project. He is doing a great job, but it is going agonizingly slowly and keeps getting interrupted by life for stretches at a time. Oh, well. When that is done, it will look good, and it will be a help to getting on track.

Well, off to do a grocery pickup. Hi Lisaward! And Muffin, here's to a great day!

Good morning, I weigh in yesterday and I was down 2lbs which is good but I'm still struggling to get back on track I'm not eating too much but what I'm eating is not too good either. My joint pain is getting back and I know it has to do with my diet, why is so difficult to make the right food choices...

MJMS- That is so nice of your husband to want to tackle the backsplash project. How are you doing this week? how is the weather? here is crazy hot and lots of rain.

Good Morning! I can't believe that it is Thursday already. The time seems to be flying by! The weather has been beautiful here after some torrential downpours earlier in the week and oppressive heat and humidity last week. Eating and exercise plan-wise, I am not doing well at all. Blah. I reined some of my eating in, but only enough it seems to maintain at this point. I did manage to add more veggies, though, so that was good.

Muffin, congratulations on the 2 pounds! Excellent! Keep up the good work! I am so sorry to hear that your joint pain is back. It is so very hard to get on track when you are in pain, either physically or emotionally, isn't it? Even when we know that healthy eating will help. It is such a struggle!

Here's to a good day for both of us, Lisaward and anyone else who is reading! We can do this!

The weather this morning was amazing; breezy and cool, but at around 9 am we were back to our hot and humid FL weather DH is home today and tomorrow so we decided to venture to Costco and BJ's this morning. I thought since it was early in the morning and during the week it wasn't going to be busy but I was wrong...so many people. I'm still not eating 100% on plan but I'm having lots of veggies and for dinner, I'm having salads.

Today is supposed to be beautiful weather here in Maryland, too! But just like you Muffin, we are back to hot tomorrow. Well, 86 degrees anyway. Which seems hot for September.

There are no crowds like the crowds at Costco and BJ's! I think the big carts they have and the samples they are giving out make the aisles cuckoo, even though they are wide. Right when they open and just before they close seem to be the best times, if you are able to go then. I do love the pharmacy at my Costco, though. They are always so nice, the lines are not usually too long, they communicate well, and they never get my prescriptions wrong. Not to mention their good prices. I have to be super careful not to indulge in buying the bakery or other goodies when I am there. Off plan foods are bad enough, but giant-sized containers are really bad!

I am trying to do what you are doing, Muffin. Even if I am not on plan, I am adding more veggies and salads. At least I have seemed to have stopped the gain. Baby steps, I guess! I did get out for a walk yesterday, too. I was going just about every day and then the hot weather hit, and I lost all motivation. Yes, baby steps until we get back to our good habits!

Friday was DS2's birthday, I can't believe he is 17 now. DS1 came over Friday night and we took them for dinner as per DS2 request. We went to a steak house but we failed to make a reservation on time so we had to wait for almost 2hrs to be seated. We ended up having dinner at 8:30 pm but it was worth the wait, everyone was really happy with the food. I only ate half of my steak since I'm not used to eating so late. Yesterday we stayed home all day. The boys work on homework and played video games and DH and I just relaxed and watched tv. It felt great to have both boys at home.

This morning woke up early but stayed in bed until around 8:30 am. I had a lot of sweets yesterday (cake and ice cream) and I woke up in pain today. At around noon said our goodbyes and drove DS1 to the bus stop.

I'm definitely not looking forward to weighing in tomorrow.

Good morning, happy Monday!

The weekend is over and now back to regular routine I weigh in this morning and as I expected, I was up but I'm glad the damage wasn't too back and I'm only 1lb up. Taking one day at a time and today I'm focusing on my water and eating healthy. No sweets and no gluten.

MJMS- how was your weekend?

Not doing too well plan-wise here. I am really struggling with motivation. But today is a new day and I can make better choices. I had too much salt yesterday and I can feel it in my fingers. Water will be my friend and being more mindful, too.

Muffin, isn't it shocking sometimes when you realize how old your children are getting? It never seems that long ago that they were little. Now I am experiencing the same thing with the grandkids. It sounds like the birthday celebration was wonderful! Too bad about the wait, but it does sound like it was worth it! I am avoiding the scale, which is never good, but I bet your one-pound gain was water weight, and it is gone already! I am so sorry to hear that you are in pain, though. I sure hope that you are feeling better by now. I had a quiet weekend with lots more work done on the backsplash. I think the end is in sight, though. I sure hope so, as I want my kitchen back to fully functioning status!

Have a great day, everyone! Hi to Lisaward, if you are reading! It's going to be in the low 80's and sunny here today!

MJMS- Sorry to hear that you are also still struggling with motivation. I'm telling you this year has been hard to stay motivated (healthy eating) I do hope you get enough water today, that is something else that I'm also struggling with lately. I just don't know why last year I was drinking 100oz of water mostly daily and now I can barely drink 50oz

I woke up at 6:30 am this morning got my gym clothes and went on a mile walk with Muffin (dog) the weather was nice. I have not much plan today, I need to clean around the house and repot a few plants. For lunch, I'm planning on having a stirfry (snap peas, onions, red pepper, and broccoli) with chicken, and for dinner salad with fish.

Happy Wednesday, yesterday I ended up going for a second walk with my dog, it felt good but I forgot that I'm very sensitive to the sun and I had a really bad headache for the rest of the day I need to plan my walks better. This FL weather is really crazy.

Today, I woke up with all the intentions to go for my morning walk but decided to stay in bed instead If the weather is not bad tonight I might go for a walk after dinner. The plan for today is to stay as active as possible and to keep my Netflix addition to just one episode. I found my old SBD diet book and I think I'm going to read it again to see if I can spark some motivation to stay on plan.

I'm thinking that I will start posting my meals again...I need all the accountability I can get.

MJMS- how was your day yesterday?

Well, I was doing pretty good yesterday until I let myself get too hungry and then dove into a bag of tortilla chips. Ugh. I knew that if I opened them, I would be in trouble. Back at trying for a better day today!

Good for you, Muffin, for going for two walks but awful that you ended up with a terrible headache. It doesn't seem fair. Your lunch and dinner plans sounded good yesterday! I find that walking in the evening is better for me with the sun, too. I think it helps relax and tire me out a bit so that I sleep better, as well. Good idea to re-read the South Beach books. I sometimes read back in the forum to here to spark my motivation, too. I often wonder where some of the past posters have gone and how they are doing.

I hope everyone has a Beachy Day today! If you are reading, feel free to hop on and comment about your South Beach journey!
