Weekend on the Beach

Good morning chicks!

I can't believe I'm the first one on here, but I'll go ahead and start the thread while the mods are off relaxing!

My plans for the weekend... work today, and then a date with the hubbie tonight. First one in months!!

I was proud of myself, yesterday DH and I went on a jog yesterday....1 hour and 1 min straight!!! It was only around 5.4 miles, we go s-l-o-w. But we made it!!

What's your plans for the weekend?

SBD Sass 09-20-2008 07:52 AM

Going shopping for a dress today. I started last night, but I didn't find anything at Macy's so I'm going to hit the entire mall today. That should be exercise enough. I also have to go the market...we're out of food again! So I have to figure out what I'm having for breakfast.

Loriann7 09-20-2008 08:03 AM

um, is it morning? Honey kept attacking my feet all night! She's definately feeling much more comfortable now and she's feeling much better over her URI... when I open door I can HEAR her motor, and it was going ALL night long!

Twynn, have a great time with hubby today!

Me: need to walk a certain girl who didn't get out yesterday and made oh such a mess due to boredom!

I think i might make taco bake, it's been two weeks ... or is that illegal? I think it is, um, will go recipe hunting then! :)

zeffryn 09-20-2008 08:25 AM

Morning Twynn, SBDSass and Lori :)

It's too early...DS has a case of diaper rash and was awake quite a bit last night in pain from it. Poor baby. He wandered into our bedroom about 10 minutes ago...I might go crash in the guest room - I'm still so tired!

It looks dreary outside, but it is supposed to clear up. I need to get some cleaning done and the tonight we're going to SIL's house to watch the LSU game.

ladybugnessa 09-20-2008 08:49 AM

morning girls

Lori walk that girl

Zeff sorry about the diaper rash and the dreary weather we are sunny but cool it's nice here

Sass good luck dress shopping.. I like to shop but not when I need something specific.

Twynn I couldn't walk for an hour much less jog... good for you!

Me: starting to settle to being a one dog household... however we don't think we are going to be big dogless for a long time... looking at landseer puppies... missing the bagel but life goes on...

i'm dressed for the gym.. gonna go do it... DH is racing tonite (watching not participating) so i'll be home with the bean dog.

carolcolleen 09-20-2008 08:55 AM

Hi fellow South Beachers,

I just installed an accellerated program for my sloooow internet dialup. Hopefully I can communicate faster now. DSL is not available where I live. On my road, we don't even have cable. I love living in the country though.

Twynn, have a great date!!!

SBD, just read about your progress on the other thread, YOU GO GIRL!!!! Hope you find the perfect dress.

Loriann, glad your kitty is better. I have 4 outside cats. My inside cat died a year ago. I had him for 12 years. I have tears in my eyes just thinking about him. He was a part of the family.

Zeff, You get some rest. I hope the diaper rash gets better soon.

Everyone have a great Saturday. I'm off to clean and do laundry.

rebel 09-20-2008 09:10 AM

Good morning, everyone.

Last night I dreamed about baking cakes. lots of them, enormous cakes, trying not to eat them as I was mixing, frosting, cutting then into pieces...
what do you suppose is the meaning of this dream? :lol

I'd better eat breakfast before I think about it any more.

cottagebythesea 09-20-2008 09:35 AM

Good morning everybody,

We're enjoying a lazy morning here after staying up until 2:30. We just couldn't shut Ruth up! :)

We're planning another day of sightseeing, shopping and, of course, eating. I think I'm going to have to do a strict Phase 1 after this.

Have a good one, Chickies!

weezle 09-20-2008 09:59 AM

Twynn, awesome job jogging! I used to jog, but my knees just can't handle it anymore. Before you know it, you'll be doing that many miles in half an hour!

Sass, have fun shopping! I wish I could go too....

Lori, sorry Honey kept you up all night! Sounds like you have a busy day ahead of you! Enjoy recipe hunting!

Zeff, have fun watching the game!

Nessa, no one will ever replace Bagel, but sometimes the love of another doggie can help ease the pain. I know my parents were both devastated after Schatzie's passing until they got Sophie, and then the next day, Oscar. Let us know if you find one!

Carolcolleen, wow. You must be country! Enjoy your weekend!

Rebel, I got a huge shipment of books in the mail yesterday, and 3 of them were cookbooks. I had a dream last night that I made Rachael Ray's Salsa Stoup and Double Decker Quesadillas. Isn't it strange when you dream about cooking/baking? Guess we never quite get food off our minds....

Cottage, simulpost! Glad to hear everyone's having fun! I wish someone would come to Springfield. :(

Hello to everyone else showing up after me today! Not much on the agenda. Already spent time marking pages in my new recipe books for different ones to try. I also got 6 novels to read finally. I'm going to start with Sandra Brown's new one, Smoke Screen. My mom is leaving for Ireland on Friday and wants to take it with her.

Otherwise, made an appointment for Tommy to get his hair cut by the lady who has been doing my hair for 12 years. I'd finally had enough of him bouncing from shop to shop, getting butchered. Rene costs the same as all those places but knows how to cut hair. He told me yesterday that he'll just save the $15 and shave his head. I told him I'll go get 2 more jobs just so he doesn't do that. He's got such beautiful, thick Greek hair!

Not much else happening today. Going to cook the boys a huge meal tonight: meatloaf, green bean casserole, and garlic mashed potatoes. (I may have to sample some of the sides just to make sure they're not.... poisoned.)

Well, gonna refill my tea and start this book. Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

Lisa

Pearlrose 09-20-2008 10:25 AM

Good morning everyone,

Hope everyone enjoys their days, it is sorta of a rainy day here. I have to take both DD leave collecting this morning for school projects and then we have friends coming over and going to the Air Show this afternoon hopefully will not rain on us.

Have a great day.

wife2abadge 09-20-2008 10:26 AM

Huh...maybe you were channeling me. I made two birthday cakes yesterday, a batch of cookies, and I have one more cake to make today. Three family birthdays tomorrow!

Ruthxxx 09-20-2008 10:29 AM

Good morning! I WAS NOT TALKING! It was Cottage keeping us up. The crew are off to visit the Biltmore Estate but I'm staying home to relax, read and guard the truffles! I may take my book and glass of water onto the deck and just relax. Being in NC is like getting another taste of summer. I love it!

Enjoy the weekend because we sure are!

hmacneil6 09-20-2008 10:47 AM

OK....I didn't know you all were in North Carolina.....how funny is that. I realize that we didn't visit the same area....but isn't it BEAUTIFUL!!!!

Morning to all of those who are not in North Carolina! Happy Weekend!!!

This morning will be busy. I've resolved to get out and hit the pavement for some donations for the USO Golf Tournament that we're having in a couple of weeks. They want to do a raffle, but at this point we don't have a lot of things to raffle off, so I'm going to head over to one of our local shopping areas and see if I can find some donations. I'm putting on my "Community volunteer" face today and I'm really going to try to sell this. My fingers are crossed that I get a few takers. We also have to take Pocket back to the vet. The Dr. wanted to see her today to see how she's progressing. I'm planning on cooking up the refried bean soup today for lunches this week. Tonight dh and I are going to see Wall-E at the $2 theater. Should be a good day.
Have a fantastic Saturday, everyone!!! ENJOY!!!

junebug07 09-20-2008 11:07 AM

Good Morning Everyone!

I was up early and hit the fitness center for a good workout. Now I have showered and was having a little snack before my daughter gets here. We are taking her shopping for her 27th birthday. She wants clothes, so it is best to let her pick them out. It is an absolutely beautiful day here in IL. Then tonight we are invited over to friends for pizza. I will get a big salad instead. :)

Ruth: Our son lives in eastern TN and when we visited him this summer we traveled over to NC and went to the Biltmore Estate. It was beautiful there. We have also been to the shore in NC for a vacation too! It is a pretty state!

There was lots of talk about cakes this morning on here. . .baking them and dreaming of baking them. Amazingly. . .I don't even have a craving for cake!

Have a wonderful day!

Schmoodle 09-20-2008 11:39 AM

Hi chicks! It's a gorgeous morning here. I've done all my errands this morning and just dropped the kids at the farm for their riding lesson. The instructor is taking them up the mountain trail for a nice relaxing ride today. I'm jealous!

My favorite farmer's market lady told me this was the last week for her fresh horticultural beans and lima beans and some other stuff. Very sad. On the other hand, the cool weather stuff is reappearing, greens and rhubarb, so there will be things to enjoy for a while yet. She also remarked on how much weight I've lost. I've only known her since spring, so she really has no idea!

Speaking of which, I lowered my ticker 3 lbs. this morning. :carrot: It's so funny now how I don't lose for weeks, and then it kind of falls off in a clump. So those three lbs. bring me to a new milestone - I am overweight! hooray! When I started I was 100 lbs. over normal weight range and therefore qualified to be in the "morbidly obese club". I was really happy to lose 1 lb and get out of there quick. The next 69 I have been slowly working my way through obesity. So now that I have lost 70, I am officially out of obesity, and just plain old normal fat. I'm pretty excited about that! 30 more and I will be "normal"! Well, with regards to weight, anyway.

I've got a long list of things to do around here the rest of the day. The kids are motivated to work for Disney dollars, so I think I'll put them on yard work for a bit when they get home. Maybe we'll go to the park later to enjoy the rest of the day. I think I will make use of the outdoor fireplace and let them roast weenies for dinner.

weezle 09-20-2008 11:41 AM

WOOHOO Schmoo! Great news!

Barb0522 09-20-2008 11:46 AM

I finally made the decision to get a laptop for home use. I realized Brian was a baby when I got my desktop and it's practically useless due to lack of memory and diskspace. I searched the store last night and then ordered this morning from Best Buy. I'm leaving in a few minutes to pick it up. I don't know if I should spend the money but I really do need it especially if I do end up getting my job cut at some point. I rely on my work laptop too much.

Brian is camping this weekend. The weather is beautiful so he should be sailing, canoeing and out on a motorboat having fun.

I need to buckle down and work on the Gazettes for the course. Wood Badge is less than 2 weeks away now. I feel good about what I have accomplished but still have lots left to do including practicing my 50 minute presentation.

BrendaS104 09-20-2008 11:53 AM

Morning everyone. :D

I think we may take the girls down to the orchard for apple and pumpkin picking.

zeffryn 09-20-2008 11:58 AM

Brenda - that sounds like so much fun. The closest pumpkin patch is over an hour away from us :(

Barb - we need a new laptop too. Our desktop is ancient and DH's laptop is reaaaaaallly wanting to just curl up and die. We've been saving for awhile and will probably end up getting one around November/December - probably as our x-mas gift to eachother.

Schmoo - Yay!! I'll bet you never thought you would appreciate people calling you fat :)

ladybugnessa 09-20-2008 12:01 PM

Congrats SCHMOODLE! 3 pounds is a nice chunk of change.

Fat Melanie 09-20-2008 12:18 PM

How are you girls liking NC? I hate it, but of course, I live in a crappy part of it. Hours and hours away is where all the cool stuff is.

Someone lost 3lbs, was it Schmoodle? Congratulations! Changing the ticker is always fun.

Loriann and Zeff, I'm trying to get into my yahoo mail to click the confirmation mail for the Meetup site, and it keeps screwing up on me. Once I do though, I'm joining a mommy/baby group for New Bern and I'm going to try to find rides to as many meetings as possible... I'm actually really excited but nervous too, I hope it's not cliquey and that I'll fit in. That was a great idea ... never thought I could find a group by looking online. I wasn't aware there were any such groups around me!
*****

I'm worried and I know, I know, aren't I always worried or whining about something? But my TOM is late.. it is now the 20th, it should have been here around the 11th or so... I've tried not to worry but now that it's the 20th and nothing, I am. It's already almost the end of the month. A week ago, I felt crampy but then it went away... When I was pregnant, the same thing happened, missed TOM and had cramps like it was going to start but it never did and one test later, found out I was pregnant. I've been feeling my boobs for tenderness (they're not, yet) because the last time I was pregnant, I missed my period and checked the girls out and they were tender. I know that not everyone has the same pregnancy symptoms nor will the same person have the same symptoms every time but, still. I know it's selfish to whine about this when there are plenty of people who would love to become pregnant, but that's not what I had in mind out of life right now.. I didn't plan on another until my mid to late 20's or even 30's.. But, it's my own fault. If I am, I'll do all of the right things and love my child just as much.

But is it wrong to wish that I'm not? I am experiencing a guilty conscience because there are chicks here with PCOS and stuff, and I don't want to sound like a ungrateful little pig.

I actually haven't told BF yet that my TOM is late. I haven't told anyone, not even my mother or friends.

I'm just waiting... hoping TOM will start. If it hasn't started in the next week then I'm going to the health department for the test.

cherrycolored 09-20-2008 12:48 PM

ugh! So glad its the weekend. i had a rough week personally and then what felt like a bad SB day yesterday. I have no idea what triggered the cravings but man I was like a ravenous animal last night. However I did try to just eat OP stuff like the leftover broccoli from dinner. Made me fuller but no less miserable. Then of course today the weight was up about a pound and a half on the scale. I tried oatmeal for the first time since starting SB this morning and so far so good. Not really craving anything and I feel full. Gorgeous day here in philly, trying to figure out something to do with myself. Hope you all have a good weekend!! Off to find a greek salad.....

Loriann7 09-20-2008 12:51 PM

Congrats schmoodle!

Mel, If you are the two can grow up better buds than if your son were a teen before you got preg again! :) (look on the bright side to things girl!)

Welcome Cherry!

CyndiM 09-20-2008 12:55 PM

Hi Chicks :) I'm back from the Farmer's Market on a lovely fall day. I haven't been in weeks because of gas and my favorite farmer wasn't there. Still lots of good stuff I just can't get at the smaller markets - husk tomatoes, jerusalem artichokes, fresh ginger!, asian pears and brussels sprouts. This afternoon I need to get the dehydrator running again and then go pick apples. I love this time of year :)

I'm trying to get back to NC! Several of us attended a March training there 3 years ago and we've been encouraging our development folks to find a grant so we can go again. It was lovely even if we weren't near the ocean :)

Schmoodle - congratulations on being fat!:carrot::carrot: Isn't it a great feeling :)

Heather - Good luck with the donations! I still have to give myself a pep talk for that even though I've been doing it for years. When it's something you believe in it really comes across to people.

Mel- there's nothing wrong with hoping for the things that fit best in your life. Doesn't take anything away from anyone else. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Have a good day everyone. Stay out of trouble in NC mods! We'd have to send Nessa down to bail you out and I'm not sure how well that would work ;)

Loriann7 09-20-2008 12:57 PM

OK, can I request to be banned from craigslist pets section? they have two sugar gliders and their cage for $100 !!! hahahaha

zeffryn 09-20-2008 01:08 PM

Mel - I used to go to Mommy and Me very seldom. There wasn't a set schedule of meetings that we had to go to, just a bunch of events that we would meet at. I go to more, but some of us have exchanged numbers and just meet at the park in the afternoon if we're free. The group that I'm in isn't cliquey...but I can't vouch for yours. Most of the activities will probably be a bit too advanced for your DS, but as he gets older, you'll be able to participate in more.

About the pregnancy thing - I don't think it is wrong to hope that you aren't pregnant. We all want things to happen at the right time in our lives - when we can handle them emotionally, physically and financially. Sometimes it works out, others it doesn't. Are you on birth control? If you really don't want to get pg at this time, I would suggest talking to your gyno about getting an IUD/IUC. It's so much easier than worrying about taking the pill everyday and they are easy to remove when plans do change. I had one for almost two years before DS1 and had another right after he was born. Wonderful for DH and my piece of mind. :) Good luck.

BrendaS104 09-20-2008 02:02 PM

Mel.. chances are your diet is effecting your TOM. I know mine is allllllllll screwed up normally because I have PCOS, but when I diet and lost 10-20 pounds... I start bleeding again. I know it's just the opposite for some people too.

zeff.. Funny I only remember pumpkin patches at farm stands.. like they have them shipped in or something down there. Up here there are pumpkin and apple orchards EVERYWHERE. Mass is pretty famous for growing empire and granny smith apples and now is when they start getting the grannies in. They do hayrides and corn mazes.. pumpking picking.. apple picking... we're completely surrounded by orchards and farms here.

zeffryn 09-20-2008 02:26 PM

Brenda - I'm so envious! There is a corn maze/pumpkin patch/maybe apple orchard in West Baton Rouge...other than that, there are a ton up by Shreveport and over towards Mississippi.

SBD Sass 09-20-2008 03:08 PM

Finally bought a dress for this party. I think I need to drop 2lbs by Friday to actually to get it to fit right in the top (I have terrible boobie issues :(), but then again I should try it on with the shaper I bought yesterday because it just might fit perfectly. I haven't walked in 3 inch heels in years so I'm going to practice all week to insure I do not fall. The taller they are the harder they fall and yes, it's true.

Everybody seems busy today which is good! Keep moving everyone!

Barb0522 09-20-2008 03:21 PM

Schmoodle - Congrats on the 3 pounds. I know it feels good that I can actually move my ticker down this month. At this rate, I WILL make my monthly goal for the first time in months.

Mel - Please get tested. I'm almost 10 weeks late myself but I'm probably starting menopause, have no possibility of being pregnant and just went back on the Pill. Until you know for sure, treat your body as if you are pregnant.

I am so thrilled to have this new laptop. :) Brian will be excited when he gets home. I'm not sure if Zoo Tycoon will run on it but it is definitely faster than the ancient Windows95 machine he uses or the Windows2000 one that is my old one.

zeffryn 09-20-2008 04:36 PM

So, I just got finished cooking/baking everything that I'm bringing tonight. I think I went a little overboard....but DH really doesn't like his sister's cooking (it's the first time I've had anything of hers) and he begged me to bring food. I made roasted rosemary potatoes, cheddar biscuits with old bay seasoning, a big greek salad and an apple pear tart. She told me to bring whatever I wanted ;) It's a big party so the more food, the better...right?

DS is snuggled in on the couch watching Land Before Time and DH is at the gym playing basketball.

Ah....relaxation.

Fat Melanie 09-20-2008 05:06 PM

Cherrycolored, I know the feeling!!

SBD Sass, I hope the dress fits you well. I just bought an adorable dress today... brand new, at a secondhand shop, with the tags still on, for $3. BF begged me to put it on but it's a 9/10 so I'll wait. If I turn up pregnant then the waiting will be even longer.

Everyone else, thanks for the input. I was trying to be sneaky and buy a test when we were at Dollar General earlier, but BF was right there talking to people so I didn't. I don't want to get him overly excited yet when I'm not quite so.. you know? Plus, if I'm not, he'll be disappointed. I'm going to call my friend, actually, she just dropped her computer off for BF to take a look at it and will be back later, since they're going to town. I'll have her stop at a store and get me one and pay her when she gets here. Why did I not think of that when she was here.. argh. I managed to whisper to her that I'm late so, better go call her cell before BF gets back from the neighbors!

Fat Melanie 09-20-2008 05:25 PM

Cool. Got up with my friend, told her to stop at the Dollar Tree and pick me up two tests. One for now, the other one for next week if the test is negative and I still haven't started. Some may be skeptical of the Dollar Tree $1 tests, but that's how I found out I was pregnant the last time. I was surprised they actually worked. I told her to double wrap it and drop it into my huge purse when BF wasn't looking. Since he's incredibly nosy, we'll see how that goes.

Re: birth control.. *ashamed* I was supposed to go get the Mirena IUD but I never did. Idiotic, I know. No one to blame but myself, I know. I feel pretty stupid admitting to it but it's true.

zeffryn 09-20-2008 05:31 PM

Mel - if you don't want to be pregnant....get on some form of birth control. I hope you at least make BF wear a....you know...If you don't turn up pregnant...get that darn IUD! Mirena has been my (and DH's) best friend ;)

Fat Melanie 09-20-2008 05:35 PM

If I don't turn out to be, I'm going to beg and borrow a ride to New Bern, which is 30 mins away, and make that IUD appointment. I don't want anymore scares like this! How bad does it hurt to get the IUD? I'll still get it but wanna know what I'm gonna come up against.

zeffryn 09-20-2008 05:57 PM

not at all. It's a little uncomfortable, but it doesn't hurt at all.

JellyBean32882 09-20-2008 06:18 PM

It's weird, everyone but me is popping out babies.. I've only had 1 guy in my life and he was sterile.. maybe someday in the next oh, 5 years I can be lucky and have a kid.

just remember Jelly, not everyone is cut out to have children and there are many disorders that are inherited.

IF I had known then what I know NOW, I don't know that I would have had my kids.....

ladybugnessa 09-20-2008 07:01 PM

Schmoodle I'm making crab soup tonite!
