Um, Zeff, news flash, cats CAN jump that high! My little girl, and she's just a little thing, can jump into my arms! It's hilarious! And she jumps from floor to top of my TALL dresser! :)

mandyleigh 09-21-2008 10:34 AM

Alrite ladies...wish me luck....about to attempt to put together my new BBQ pit....

*************
WOw....I'm impressed with myself....BBQ is together in an hour flat!!

CyndiM 09-21-2008 10:39 AM

Okay, minor change of plans - they had giant cukes so I will get to make a few more chips for the winter :)

Schmoodle - Great plan except we live about 35 miles from a nuke :( Darn

Nessa - I've been dying my hair for about 26 years and at least once every year I decide to see how it looks without dye. So far I've been depressed and run to the store for a new box after a couple of months every time! I have a co-worker who just let hers grow out but she has that gorgeous silvery salt and pepper hair that I envy. Mine seems to be washed out yellowy gray, very unappealing. Also, my Mom still dyes her hair so I feel obligated ;)

Zeff - you will have to share the recipe, or at least the technique if it's good.

Okay, the produce is calling my name. Time to get back to work :)

ladybugnessa 09-21-2008 10:46 AM

I got 3 more dinners, dinner tonite and another small lunch and a big lunch out of it. all i had last night was a cup (for tasting purposes)

come on over it's crab soup for dinner!

Loriann7 09-21-2008 10:52 AM

I'm not much for seafood... But I'll join ya anyway!

I just found a recipe on ph2 threads for Mexican Lasagna, I am going to make that this week, as opposed to taco bake! (See, I can get creative?) ROFLMAO

mandyleigh 09-21-2008 11:45 AM

Okay...so I can't find the page with the phase 1 or 2 food lists. I know they were here because I book marked them, but now they aren't coming up. Can anyone help?? I do have the book, but I let my sister borrow it...and I'm tryiing to get some ideas!

Quick question....is butternut squash allowed in PH1?? I was thinking of boiling and mixing in a little ICBINB and cinnamon and splenda like a sweet potato.....legal for PH1?

Barb0522 09-21-2008 11:53 AM

Mel - Did you test? We're dying to know.

I dye my hair Natural Dark Golden Brown which is pretty close to the natural color. I feel younger without the grey.

I had so much fun last night with my new computer. I got Messenger installed and got on the webcam with one of my friends who is out of town helping with the hurricane Ike aftermath. Definitely beats a phone call.

Brian gets back this afternoon from his campout and I still haven't planned meals yet. I played more than I should have last night but I really needed a break.

Mandy,... FAQs page ... http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=115

ladybugnessa 09-21-2008 12:10 PM

butternut squash is a winter squash phase 2!

Fat Melanie 09-21-2008 12:25 PM

Hi guys, yep I did the test last night. It was negative! (Thank you Jesus!) Decided to wait another week to do the other test just in case. When I was pregnant with Liam, I took two first response tests that turned out negative. I figured the HCG level hadn't built up enough in my urine yet so I tested again a week later, with a cheapo Dollar Tree test and it was positive. So I was still nervous. BUT, about 20 minutes ago, TOM started.

I am SO relieved. I don't know why it was so late but I DON'T CARE. IT'S HERE! YAY!!!!!

Most people wouldn't celebrate TOM but, I'm ectastic. Making an appointment to get the Mirena tomorrow and I'm going to make BF take off from work whenever my appointment is.

Loriann7 09-21-2008 12:29 PM

Congrats Mel in not being preg!

CyndiM 09-21-2008 12:32 PM

Congratulations Mel!

Jelly - have you ever thought about applying for a job at the post office?

As much as that sounds like my kinda job, I'm not sure. Some have mentioned UPS to me, some have mentioned working at the Vet since I'm good with animals, and some have mentioned I go into computers and the medical field. So really, I'm not sure what to do.

Everyone loves my natural color, not sure why I allowed those beauticians to talk me into dying it!

LOL when I start working I plan on dying my hair back to blonde, but until then growing out my natural color of med-dark mousy brown.

akacutie 09-21-2008 12:52 PM

Yeah!!

Melanie- Yeah... :) :carrot:

I have been reading your saga and I was hoping for the best!

I don't even have children and I would freak out if I was pregnant... I love my DBF and want children but I am not ready yet.... I am 28, but I am back in school for nursing after my teaching degree proved not very helpful on the job front.....

How has everyone's weekend been? Anything exciting happening today? I am babysitting my nephew which is fun and also washing laundry. Grrrrrr I hate laundry which is why it will mostl likely take me all day to do. I have way to many clothes!

Ok, Have a great day everyone.... Oh, I forgot to mention today is day 14 on Phase 1. I am very nervous about the transition to P2 tomorrow. I am thinking of adding brown rice this coming week to dinner, as I already have some in cupboard and I don't have a lot of cash right now..... I hate not having money!

Have a nice Sunday ladies!

jelly, take an aptitude test! A vet would be a great place to work I think!!!!

JellyBean32882 09-21-2008 12:58 PM

Ya Loriann, I know that once my cats start sneezing and getting watery eyes I automatically put vitamin and mineral spray in their food, works wonders. If any of you got cats and they get that or are sickly, try spraying that stuff in their food for a week, bet you they get better. I've had a few I thought would die off but I would dropper feed vitamins to them and give them goodlife recipe friskies and they survived - no need for vet. You can find that spray at Walmart, or so I did.

Barb0522 09-21-2008 01:20 PM

Mel - Congratulations! I'm glad it worked out for you.

I got my first Gazette for the course done (except for one article that hasn't been sent to me) Yeah! Won't be long before it's time to get Brian now.

femmecreole 09-21-2008 01:25 PM

Ok, Mandy, when should I come over from some yummies from the grill? BTW, WD has grilling planks there a lot cheaper than kitchen spot....really great for fish.

Nothing much going on here. I spent yesterday grading tests and posting 6 weeks worth of grades. They finally gave me the right password and good thing since report cards go out this week. Last night my husband was glued to LSU/Auburn game on TV, Radio and internet..he had all his bases covered. So I rented "Miss Pettigrew" and gave myself a manicure/peticure. I also made a big pan of eggplant/turkey lasagna so I won't have to cook today and will have lunch for both of us for tomorrow and the next day hopefully if no hungry sons come by.

Today I am tackling this house with a vengence. Got the music cranked up and making headway. I read about this dog "smelly stuff" on the net this morning and headed out to walmart to get some in jeans and a baseball cap before taking a bath and of course ran into 3 people I knew. I'm one of those people who never leave the house without make-up and should have known I'd see someone. Should have left the sunglasses on. I got the dog stuff and boy, does it work...no trace of any kind of dog smell on floors or living room rugs. My dogs are not allowed in the living room, but apparently someone got in there and left presents a while back and it was enough to knock a buzzard off a ____ wagon when I walked in the front door. ick. Glad I finally found something that seems to work.

It took 17 tests over the course of 3 months to determine that I was pg with this one... ;)

The quiche was..just ok. The flavors were good and I think with a little tweaking, it would be good. The "crust" was rather bland and I think could use a little somethin' somethin'.

Hi Cat :)

starting to settle to being a one dog household... however we don't think we are going to be big dogless for a long time... looking at landseer puppies... missing the bagel but life goes on...
Nessie--Man if you get a landseer I am going to be sooooo jealous. When I lost my two newphies and started longing to replace them I told DH that when we got married I had 3 dogs that totaled 300 lbs. Now he could allow me to have 3 dogs (of my own since be brought one with him) OR I was going to go lb for lb and shoot for 300 lbs of dogs. Now in pug pounds that’s a lot of dogs. I really would loved to have a newphie AND a boxer in addition to my puggers. I want to hear all about the shopping, if I can't buy one then I will just need to live vicariously. We still have his Ivory but she is starting to show her age and I will not be without at least one larger dog, he has already been warned and rewarned.

ladybugnessa 09-21-2008 03:24 PM

well we found a newf/great pyr mix that we applied for... don't know much about him other than he's young, male in a rescue in MO

or i could get a 9 month old skittish full bread landseer from another rescue.

so either way we will have a big fluffy white with black dog soon enough...

Loriann7 09-21-2008 03:43 PM

Nessa! Do let us know which your gonna adopt, and we have to have pics ! :)

JellyBean32882 09-21-2008 04:24 PM

I'm lookin for a grey pursian kitten.. if I ever see one I'll want it, lol

zeffryn 09-21-2008 04:30 PM

it would fit right in with the other 30 cats that you have.

JellyBean32882 09-21-2008 04:37 PM

Yep, they all are great entertainment too. One of mine needs some exercise too cause he's getting HUGE, guess I feed him too much food, lol

zeffryn 09-21-2008 04:41 PM

That can be a problem. I can't believe how expensive food is - and we just have one cat!

Loriann7 09-21-2008 04:45 PM

Jelly, 30 cats is way to much, And I'm willing to bet not many, if any, of them are spayed/neutered and properly vetted! If your folks and you can't afford "healthy" people food, then surely they can't afford to vet 30 cats!!!!!!!

Loving cats is one thing, but not being able to care for them is another, and in order to properly love them you need to be able to afford them!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jenskihere 09-21-2008 05:46 PM

Lots of activity today!!
I took the kids to get their hair cut this morning. I also got my cut and my highlights touched up. Went a little darker on the highlights with it being fall and all.
Then I went to my brother's house with Dh and the kids to watch the Chicago Bears lose in overtime.
I cheated a little. The first time really since starting SB on 9/1. I had a few forkfuls of dessert tonight. Wasn't that great! :-)

Finishing up homework with DS, then a walk, showers, and bedtime. Can't wait to watch Entourage tonight. That show is so funny!!

Made the bean brownies last night. They are horrible!! I felt like I wanted something "brownie-cake" like, no way. Took away the craving anyway!

JellyBean32882 09-21-2008 07:11 PM

If we had known what we know now with vet bills we would've never had that many cats.. but we are stuck with them so.. and my mom feeds raccoons too.

Most of our cats are old, we had them since I was like 10, and it was cheaper to have animals back then.

zeffryn 09-21-2008 07:50 PM

how about giving them up for adoption? There are a lot of no kill animal shelters available just for this kind of thing...or listing them on craigslist?

You're never stuck with an animal.

JellyBean32882 09-21-2008 08:05 PM

Nobody will take animals that are grown around here. My town people already have alot of cats which is why the stores are always out of cat supplies.

Loriann7 09-21-2008 08:13 PM

Jelly, that doesn't make sense! List some of them on craigslist! Cats go like crazy on there!

And a store constantly out of food?

JellyBean32882 09-21-2008 08:16 PM

Ya a store always out of cat food. It's rediculous.. sometimes we have to go a half hour out of our way just to get crystal cat litter, cause they are always out of that, and one store is always out of the 24 cans of 9 lives.. and 24 cans of 9 lives cost $7.99 here which is cheaper than having to buy them seperate.

BTW, crystal cat litter lasts a couple weeks with multiple cats which is much cheaper than buying them fresh step clay litter..

zeffryn 09-21-2008 08:39 PM

We used to use crystal cat litter before we switched to the pine stuff. The crystal lasted our one cat household a month....I guess if it lasts your thirty cat household a few weeks...we were definitely throwing it out too soon.

Ugh. I hate cleaning the cat box.

JellyBean32882 09-21-2008 08:41 PM

LOL, I hate cleaning the cat box too. Used to get the pine stuff but my cats made too much of a mess with it. It was good mulch for outside though so it never went to waste

akacutie 09-21-2008 09:47 PM

So.....

I just got back from my nephews 5th b-day party.... I must say I am proud of myself. My mom didn't really know about my new plan and I didnt get a chance to tell her what I could so there was nothing for me... :( They had pizza and huge cupcakes loaded with frosting which I happen to love..... I didn't have any.... The only thing I could find to eat was some sliced turkey from the deli in my mom's fridge.... She didn't even have any veggies.... So the turkey was tasty.... I went to the local farmers market on my way home to grab some veggies and an enjoy some P1 fare as I type. Tomorrow it is on to P2. Good Night ladies!

Loriann7 09-21-2008 10:59 PM

Tracy, I would of eaten pizzza! Good job!
