forcing myself to eat

OK, something happened to me a few weeks ago, not sure exactly what..

I used to be the kind that could get up in the morning and eat! And I'd want to eat all day!

But a few weeks ago I found myself not hungry... Yesterday I really didn't eat much..

But this morning I wanted to get myself back on track, eating at regular intervals to try to get through this weight barrier.

Well, I woke up late (for me anyway) at 9:30... I couldn't eat, my stomach is hard as a rock! (I woke up during hte night with sharp pains)... And couldn't eat..

But here it is 12:30 and I just fixed a nice salad with a side of milk...

I'm determined to eat today, during reg. intervals...

Am I the only one that is having a hard time eating now? How are you getting over this? This is something totally new to me! Not being hungry all the time... and the mere thought of food .. well...

Sharp pains as in you need to go to the bathroom? Or sharp pains like someone's stabbing you in the stomach?

If you press hard on your stomach, does it hurt?

If it persists, maybe go to a doctor and get checked out.

Loriann, appetite suppression is common during and after Ph1, but what you describe sounds like it might be something more - sharp pains, and the thought of food turning your stomach do not sound normal to me. I think you probably want to get it checked out.

Loriann7 08-27-2008 01:16 PM

Like someone stabbing me.. no, it didn't hurt when I pressed on it...

My stomach is still hard.. feels uncomfortable.

I did manage to eat the salad...

But four weeks of not eating much, My question is ... is it really healthy to eat when your not hungry? I mean, I"m truly over four weeks have had a hard time of getting myself to eat something. Is this normal with this diet?

If it persists into tomorrow I'll call my dr. Even though I have no insurance (being unemployed)... sometimes they work with me and lower the fees. (at least 10 years ago they did when I wasn't insured.

Most cash patients can get out the door with lower fees.

While it isn't healthy to stuff your face when you aren't hungry, you should still be getting enough daily calories. Your body giving signs of hunger actually means that it is too late and your metabolism is slowing....don't wait for a growly tummy to have some food!

Loriann7 08-27-2008 01:27 PM

Zeff, I haven't been hungry for four weeks! I'm not waiting for the growlies, I'm truly not hungry! And I have been eating, just because I know I need too... Yesterday around noon I had something for lunch, can't recall what that was, and for dinner a can of garbanzo beans (was headed to the store). but that was my entire meals for the day, and I really wasn't hungry when I ate that!

A day or two is alright I suppose, but four weeks? Thats why I'm asking!

I'm doing some checking around.....I don't mean to be invasive, but do you have diarrhea?

mrs dorson 08-27-2008 01:41 PM

blessing or curse?

i dont know the answer to the not hungry question.

but i do know from hiding about and lurking but reading....you have had significant stress over the past few weeks.

stress does weird stuff to us.:?:

and hard, clenched stomach with no hunger sounds like me when i am really scared or worried.

did you check on webmd or discoveryhealth?

i love those sites for "what is this" questions.

i just hope thing get easier for you!

SOON!

Loriann7 08-27-2008 01:42 PM

Nope, no diarrhea! :(... if I had I know I'd be alright! I had a nice bowel last night through the cramps.. and it was nice and hard, but not so hard I couldn't bear it! IE, it was healthy... ok, thats just tmi!!!!!!!

Mrs. Dorson... Nice to make your acquaintance... I thought of the stress factor and was hoping that'd be it... But I'm not so sure. I used to eat during stressful times! Not suppress it!

uscarchie 08-27-2008 01:46 PM

Also might be depression, causing the low hunger.

But yeah, I'm concerned about your health, so continue to eat as much as you can, and if the doc will make a deal, get yourself checked out.

Have you ever had an issue with your gallbladder or gallstones?

what about a colonoscopy?

Loriann7 08-27-2008 01:49 PM

NO, I've not had those problems.

The sharp pains aren't there so much right now, but my stomach does feel hard!

zeffryn 08-27-2008 02:00 PM

You may want to mention gallbladder issues to your GP....I talked to my neighbor (a GP) and searched online and most issues point to something concerning the gallbladder.

my neighbor said that you might want to have a hepatobiliary test. I would assume that it has something to do with the gallbladder...but don't hold me to it ;)

ladybugnessa 08-27-2008 02:00 PM

i really really really would like you to see a doctor.

just a gut feeling (NO PUN intended)

FOUR WEEKS is a long time...

murphmitch 08-27-2008 02:04 PM

Women who have even vague symptoms of bloating, abdominal pain, bowel changes, trouble with urination need to be seen by a Dr. A pelvic exam & ultrasound need to be done to rule out stuff. See your Dr.
