pain is too low for gb

if it's below belly button could be appendix

if it's around belly button could be ovarian

it might not have anything to do with the lack of appetite.... (anorexia)

Lori,

clearly we all love you and are all insanely worried about you.

Loriann7 08-27-2008 03:19 PM

nessa, Ovarian makes sense, I had some tumors pulled from there several years ago, and was on the right side! And felt much like this one. But the dr took the tubes where they were attached!

I was gonna see if the pains subsided... sometimes I get these, though it's been months, year?

murphmitch 08-27-2008 03:22 PM

If your tubes were removed but not your ovaries, you still can have cysts, tumors. I would go to my doctor, especially with your history.

ladybugnessa 08-27-2008 03:28 PM

could be endometriosis then....

Jenskihere 08-27-2008 03:29 PM

Sounds EXACTLY like the pain I get from my endometriosis!! While you are on the phone with your doctor, put a heating pad on the area that hurts. That typically helps me!

the pain started last night, middle of the night.

The loss of appetite four weeks ago or so.

If something was starting to go wrong but just wasn't bad enough to cause pain yet it could certainly have effected your appetite. If it's been building up for 4 weeks and is now painful, you need to get looked at as soon as possible. Also, you said you took a fall? Internal bleeding can cause the abdomin to get hard like you are describing. I think you really need to be seen right away - you don't want to wait until it gets to a point where it's critical. (you think a dr. bill is big, you should see what a ride in an ambulance costs ;) )

I sure hope it turns out to be just bad gas or something but you really shouldn't take chances.

There are so many things that abdominal pain could be, it's best not to guess at it and to call your doctor.

Yep, I remember everytime my grandmother would make something fattening, such as ribs for example, I would be violently sick and in horrific pain, when I still had a gallbladder.

Though I did notice however, that while Loriann said she was in pain, she didn't say it was the most horrific pain ever... For me, the gallbladder attacks were the worst pain I've ever felt in my life, (until I went into labor and then I found out what pain was really about). How bad is the pain, Loriann? Does it strike you all at once and hurt for awhile, and then later dissipate and go away, only to return later on? Or is it hurting constantly?

With gallbladder attacks, well in my personal experience anyway, it hurts like crazy for awhile, then it dissipates only to hit you again a few days later or so.

ladybugnessa 08-27-2008 03:59 PM

FWIW I had a diseased gall bladder and i had pain but my IBS cramps are much worse. everyone is diffeent.

Fat Melanie 08-27-2008 04:20 PM

I still don't know much about gallbladder stuff, I admit. I don't even know why we have a gallbladder or what it's for (doesn't it store bile or ... something? I don't remember). Mine may have been removed, but I still don't understand why I had stones or why I had such horrible attacks. I didn't know that some people have gallbladder disease and still have their gallbladder. (Doctors don't tell you anything when you're just a kid!) Just thought I would clarify, that was my own personal experience, not everyones. It was unbearable for me, but like Lady Nessa pointed out, everyone is different. (I just assumed.)

So it could still be your gallbladder, or anything, Loriann. Hope you get to a doctor ASAP and tell us what's going on. :) And hopefully everything is fine.

zeffryn 08-27-2008 04:44 PM

the gallbladder is a little sac underneath the liver that stores and secretes bile (used in digestion). Bile is produced by the liver, so it is ok to not have one...but not having one will cause digestive tract complications.

Loriann7 08-27-2008 05:01 PM

I called the Dr. and am going to wait it out over night, if the pain gets worse, or I start vomiting of fever develops, I'm going in. My mouth has been getting that watery feeling since she asked that, so I think (or am hoping) thats just suggestive rather than about to vomit!

I REALLY don't think I can eat tonight though.. Will venture in to try to figure something out.

And the textbook patient is female, fat & forty! Sorry, but that's what they teach you in school. Stones actually get worse with rapid weight loss. It also runs in families.

Back from the Drs for a second to let dog out. They sent me to the ER, she's afraid it MAY (not sure) be my appendix.

that, and she's not impressed with Blood pressure! 164/104 which for me is low! NOt sure what her deal is today!

I'll update you when I know more
