FAVORITE EXERCISE: Walking on treadmill, recumbent bike & stairmaster
FAVORITE BOOK(S): Love mysteries and also anything about health. Love the "You" series by Dr. Oz.
FAVORITE MOVIE(S): My alltime favorite is "Jaws" but also "The Princess Bride" and "Contact".
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: Fitting time in to exercise. I sometimes work 12 hour shifts, Come home and eat and go to bed. No time for anything else. Also like to eat too many carbs. After reaching menopause, metabolism makes it harder to lose weight. I have lost weight many times in the past, only to gain it back. I have always been a real yo-yo dieter. I had maintained my weight on Weight Watchers for over 3 years until going through menopause in the last 2 years or so.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: Since following South Beach, I have been able to lose weight quickly without hunger. I feel like I can stay on this plan for life and be able to maintain by weight. I have always used Weight Watchers flex plan in the past and in fact am a lifetime member, but the food plan was not working for me. I also used my points to eat foods that were high in simple carbs and did not make the best choices. I still go once a month to weigh in and have some accountability. I also enjoy the support and information that I get here.
FAVORITE FOODS: Honestly? was pizza, but health foods are fast overriding it!
FAVORITE EXERCISE: Hiking... just joined curves
FAVORITE BOOK(S): The Bible and William Gurnall's The Christian in Complete Armour.
FAVORITE MOVIE(S): The Lakehouse.
FAVORITE TV Shows: Getting rid of the tv
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: PCOS, laziness, bad eating habits, deskjob...
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I joined this site and also Curves. Just yesterday (March 2, 2008) I decided to start training for a 5K run!
FAVORITE BOOK(S): Oedipus Rex by Sophocles, Antony and Cleopatra by Shakespeare
FAVORITE MOVIE(S): The Godfather Trilogy, Harry Potter Movies, Scarface, Life is Beautiful
FAVORITE TV Shows: One Tree Hill and all the soaps on tv
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: Giving in to cravings that I regret.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: I have been fit and at my goal weight before, and I was SO happy. I want that again and realize that I have to work at it forever.

PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: when I don't exercise, I don't lose weight. I'm also complusive when it's in front of me I will eat it.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: My dh & I are really trying to get pregnant and I think my weight is part of the problem. And when we do get prego....I want everything to be healthy and safe. And lastly, when I was a lot thinner (back in 2001) I felt so much better about myself. I want to get back there!
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: I know what I need to do, but I go through these "periods" where I do the opposite of what needs to be done. The last time I lost weight (in 2005 - 2006), I think I got overconfident and stopped working out. Stopping workouts + Eating sugar/carbs = me fat again. I am also insulin resistant, so I KNOW that there are things I should avoid, like sugar, bread, and alcohol - and wouldn't you know, I love all three!
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: The rigidity of the South Beach diet. I did weight watchers back in 2004 - 2005, which worked, but I was still eating a lot of carbs and drinking alcohol, which led to me being 277 again. This time, I started on weight watchers, but I felt that I needed something to help me combat insulin resistance. I also wanted to avoid the "easy out" of "well, I've still got 13 points for today, I can go have some cake and a martini! I hadn't done it, but I know me, and I would definitely try to use that line of reasoning to justify having a bad weekend. So that's how I ended up on the beach! I'm currently on day two and feeling great. I'm not hungry at all.

Problem in Weight Loss: cravings and NO willpower when they hit!
Why I will succeed this time: SB has helped me to control my cravings in a way that WW, Jenny Craig or Atkins never could! I don't have to work nearly so hard at controlling myself. Also, this time I am doing it for my HEALTH - NOT my LOOKS! Let's face it - I'm 50 and I'm never gonna look like I did at 25 again....but I sure can FEEL BETTER!!!!!! Besides, I've found this forum and you are all wonderful!

PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: Falling off the wagon one too many times by letting others sabotage or trick me into the "It's only one cheat" mode. Being too cocky when the weight and inches fall off, thinking I can eat whatever I want without consequences.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: Knowing that I am doing this for ME, first and foremost. The other reasons are just secondary.
PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: Using food as comfort or eating when i'm bored
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: Both my parents have been diagnosed with diabetes. As well as a family history of women my age having strokes, so why tempt fate by adding obesity to the mix? I truly want to be as healthy as I can as I age.

PROBLEM IN WEIGHT LOSS: I have been heavy since childhood, those fat cells love to hang on to what they've stored. I'm drawn to carbs. Not enough exercise, even though I have a busy lifestyle, it isn't the same.
WHAT IS DIFFERENT THIS TIME THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL: My weight problem is starting to translate into health problems, high blood pressure and prediabetic changes in my bloodwork. If I want to be active in my older years, I need to stay healthy and that isn't where this is headed unless I make some serious lifestyle changes.
