I've tried so many
Hello everyone, I am new to this great community but wanted to let you all know that the Sonoma Lifestyle is a wonderful way of life.
I have tried so many different diets and plans but nothing has really worked for me. I made myself a pledge this past Christmas; I have to get the weight off. I was starting to have high blood pressure attacks and found that any exertion of energy could cause shortness of breath. I had become concerned. My husband's weight had rocketed up too. I started working out 2-4 times at week, I tried to cook better foods and not eat, what my husband and I call "crap food". After almost 4 months I had only lost 11 lbs. I found that this was very hard on the ego, granted I was losing weight it was so slow going.
My parents had changed their lifestyle to the Sonoma Lifestyle and were seeing some great results. Mom kept telling me that this would be something my husband and I would really like. I was sceptical about the whole thing, I had tried WW, South Beach Diet, SlimFast and none of it did that much for me and I found that because I was limiting myself from some things it was hard to stick to. Also, I never figured that my husband would be on board for this whole change. Mom gave me a copy of The Sonoma Diet Recipes Companion and I read it. Thought that this might work for me, I left this book out for hubby to read and he decided that he would do this with me. I ordered the Sonoma book right then.
Day 0, when you purge your kitchen of all the bad foods, was the first day of the rest of mine and hubby's lives. I wave 1 we both lost 10 lbs and were feeling the health benefits. Now after 5 weeks total I am down 18lbs and hubby is down 17. There have been a number of times that we were off of the lifestyle a bit because of birthdays and other occasions but then we get back and just keep going.
I thought that this was a diet but it really is not, it is just a way of life, a much healthier way of life. If any one is contemplating changing to this lifestyle I would say go for it.
