Hi, there. Just like you, I tried to start Sonoma before I got my book, that's how I found this site.
I would say the most important point in wave 1 is to avoid all refined carbs (white bread, rice, etc.) Just eat whole grains, lean protein and vegetables. You can also have some fat (1 tbsp per day) and a few nuts.
