Ok so I should have hand cuffs on b/c last night I was treated like a criminal
First off My dr told me i was too small to get surgery ( my BMI is 40) and most of her patients were closer to 300 pounds If I waited till I got there I would not be able to move and I'd have no joints left
She wouldn't look at my history at all totally uninterested
I told her I have been researching this for 3 years and had already seen 2 different medical practices that I turned down
THen I told her I wasn't do this for cosmetic reasons and that I'm a beautiful woman (that got a smirk) but I'm in pain all the time
I hate the way Dr's percieve women especially when you are heavy Obviously its because I'm too lazy to get off my butt

Find a more competent doc! There will be someone who 'gets it' and you will be able to have the success you deserve. Keep us in the loop. I want to hear what happens!

I'm so sorry to hear that your doctor is such a jerk.

I finally saw my PCP yesterday too. I was expecting a similar reaction, as I'm "only" 40 BMI too.

Unfortunately, my doctor is on board, but my health insurance company wants me to have been at 40 BMI for 5+ years. So, they want me to hang out at this unhealthy wieght for 3 more years. Joy.

luckily with my insurance what my primary says doesn't matter. She's going on Maternity Leave so Hopefully the new Dr will be a human being

When I considered surgery last year my BMI was 40 as well, the surgeon suggested that I get the lapband instead of the gastric because of my bmi and my age,19. By the time I got my sugery last month my BMI was 42 (so be careful tweet). But like you my primary's opinion didnt make a defference whether I could recieve wls or not. KO sweetie, hang in there. Maybe this is a sign of some sort, dunno. I know your anxious but try to see it how your doctor see's it. How does she treat you otherwise? is she companionate? or does she blow you off alot? Once you understand your relationship with your doc, then go from there. I know you are physically hurting I have bad joints and spine as well. I know your frustrated but remember the band / wls is a tool, you'll still have to diet your little heart out even with those tools.

There's always another doctor if you truly feel like this one is not helping you.

That Dr and I haven't really developed a relationship to know what she is like. . So I don't know
I just want to know whats going on because I feel like I'm in limbo(I'm one of those people who has to know!)
I saw my sister go through the good the bad and the ugly with WLS she is getting redone on the 30th And I've been researching it for over 3 years and gone to 2 other Medical Practices
I just want to know which tunnel I'm taking you know? I'm not impatient to get sliced and diced Just to know what's going to happen.
