Default 300+ And Ready to Try Again...#779

300+ And Ready to Try Again...#779

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone to join us in our journey.
We share laughter and tears.
We share what works for us and what doesn't.

We have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, and more. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group...
we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for Amazon on any page in the forum, or by clicking on the button on the main 3FC page at www.3fatchicks.com . A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's like $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!!!

Good Morning Everyone!

How is everyones week going?? All I have done is spend money. (My favorite thing to do, even more than eating ) My lil sister decided to take the day off work yesterday and have a "me" day. Of course she couldn't do it alone *L* SO she arrived at my house yesterday morning at 7:30am and we set out to go for a facial. Well, we started shopping and needless to say, couldn't afford the facial by the time we could get an appt. But we did have fun, burned many calories and bought many goodies! I am almost done Christmas shopping as I promised myself that I would not go overboard this year. Last year I bought WAY too much! By the time we got home at 5:00pm I was BEAT! So no time in the gym yesterday but 8hrs of shopping. I guess I still got enough exercise.

I also impressed myself at lunch. I ordered a steak wrap and a light caesar salad at my favorite restaurant in the city. I only ate 1/2 the wrap and took the other 1/2 home. I was SO happy with myself. Good thing too because I was so tired at dinner time that I had something semi-healthy all ready to eat. I will confess that I have NEVER in my life, not finished a meal in a retaurant. At least not left enough on my plate to warrent taking any home!

Mom2five ~ Congrats on your weight loss!!! AquaFit is water aerobics. I like it as it is much easier on the joints and still good for you because you have the water resistance to work with. Burns a nice amount of calories too! Check with your local pool

Catherine ~ I hope you are doing OK! I certainly don't know how you haven't went and bought an EPT yet!! The first day I am late, I am holding myself back from running to the drugstore. I live almost in the same yard as one so it makes it hard!!! Only a few more days 'til your appt, hang in there!

Ammi ~ Hope all is well with you. I hope the ex hasn't caused you two any troubles!

Rabidstoat ~ Hope you do OK at your checkup. Stay strong! Your story about riding horses was great! I'm happy to know that things like that don't only happen to me

Bailey's eye is looking much better. We have a quick appt at the vet today to see if it is helping and to see maybe if we can reduce the eyedrop amounts. Poor thing! I have to bribe her with treats so much that her eye troubles will cause her to gain weight One problem at a time!

OK I must run now. I have an order for homemade Christmas cards that I must get finished before tonight ( I sell and teach cardmaking classes in my basement on weekends ) and housework calls too.

Hope everone has a wonderful day!

Good morning, all!

Well, I crashed on the leftover Halloween candy. I avoided it for the most part at home, but in the office, EVERYONe had candy in their cubicles, and I caved (multiple times!). It's mostly the little reese's peanut butter cups and the peanut butter Hershey kisses--they are AWESOME! But now I don't think I'll have a loss at TOPS tonight, so it comes at a price Good news is, almost all the candy is gone now, so the temptation is dwindling.

Catherine--it's true that it's often difficult to conceive once you've reached a certain age (and sometimes also because of being overweight), but I think I remember you saying that when you were at higher weights, your cycles had stopped completely, and as you lost weight, you basically went through puberty again (oh, the joy ). Maybe that had something to do with it--maybe your eggs were just hangin' out for so long that they forgot how old they really were! In any case, I hope you get the results you want at your doc's appointment. I'm with the others here, too--I don't know how you could stand NOT getting a home test (or 10!)

Brenda--haha, I haven't even STARTED Christmas shopping yet! I never know what to get for anyone! Congrats on the restaurant food conquering--you can share some of that self-discipline with me when it comes to the candy that's all over my office

Yay...down 2.3 this week. I also didn't finish my dinner last night. I had ordered something that was supposed to be a 1/2 chicken 1/2 tofu combo and they sent all chicken...so when they brought the tofu, I put 1/2 of the chicken and 1/2 of the tofu into a doggie bag right away. I actually was very satisfied after finishing what I ate...so all was well.

Jason is in a huge snit with the phone company. His line stopped working for no reason on Monday night, so he called for a service appointment, which was scheduled for yesterday, between 8am and 8pm. So he took the day off of work to wait for them. At some point in the late morning, the line started working again before they showed up. So he called the phone company and they said he should cancel the appointment...so at their urging, he did. 2 hours later it went dead again and when he caled back to get back on their list for today, they refused and he was furious. So they put him on the list for today...but he cannot take off another day, so his (unreliable and lazy) best friend is house sitting for the day (sitting on his couch and eating his food). I know how paranoid it is making Jason...hopefully it will all go alright and be done with.

Oh well...Happy Thursday!

Hi all - I've been off shoveling horse puckies for a few days, and my DSL's been down.

For those who mentioned weighing every day, I'm in that club. I only weigh FIRST thing in the a.m. in my birthday suit (is that cheating?), and regardless of what it says I don't let it ruffle my feathers much. Several days ago it finally read 299, but the next several days I was back in the 300-301 range. Today, however, I've decided to go ahead and get a little excited, because it was down to 298. Maybe, just maybe, I won't see the 3's again.... at least not without being able to blame my big fat sneakers My starting weight at Curves a week ago was 308, and that, of COURSE, was with my clothes ON, since thankfully I haven't left any of my clothes on a saddlehorn...lately I'll be really ready to party when even they say I'm under 300, but I think they only "officially" WI once a month.

Amy, I loved the pics of your beautiful family! SO cool that you've still got the newlywed joy! I hope your babies will be better soon! Little sniffles are so sad - I always feel so powerless 'cuz I want to make it better for them.

Ammi, Glad you were back on track after the Halloween slip, but I hope you enjoyed your honey's birthday pizza, too. Please do well today, even with the ex haunting you - She'd probably just love to know she upset you to the point of eating. I used to imagine my husband's vile ex standing there going "Here, Val, eat this... ". But NO! NO! NO! WE are the winners. THEY are the s. If she's STILL bothering you, then she's pathetic and has no life or happiness. You aren't going to let THAT derail your great progress, now are you??? Have a glass of water and toast the !

Brenda, How Cool about him shaving his goatee for your terrific first 35 lost!!! What's he going to shave for the NEXT 35 ??? ...Congrats on the 2 more pounds lost, and on taking those leftovers HOME! And on all the walking you'll be doing to and from the vets - 2 miles each way!? I'm just sorry your dog baby is having eye trouble and hope he's better soon!

Vicki, AWESOME, absolutely AWESOME on the 67 pounds gone so far. That must feel Great!!! It's a big goal you've set for by Christmas, but you're on a roll - ssssSSSSSMOKIN' in fact! You'll do it!!

Voodoo, My new guy is big - that was one of the appeals since I'll probably never be a really little girl, but the Percheron in the barn dwarfs him. For the rest of the month I'm home I get to ride the Perch, and I did for the first time 2 nights ago. There's a doorway to a different level in the barn, and I use that for a mounting block. It was an awesome time, especially because he didn't seem the least bit impressed by my weight. My girlfriend bought him from the Amish, otherwise he'd be pulling a plow somewhere, so I don't even feel too sorry for him. He's a sweetheart, and a total powerhouse! It's really a treat!

Catherine, It all sounds very complicated... and totally worth it!! I'll keep my for you!!!

Lori, Another 2.4 pounds GONE!!! Keep up the great work!!! ... I hope your babies lose their coughs soon, too. Sure is the season for it, isn't it?

Mom2-5, You really are blessed with all those wonderful kids. Some day perhaps I'll tell you about my attempts to adopt. It was really ****, and so sad because I wanted to give a child or two a home outside the foster system. It's sucha wonderful thing when it works out. My horses and dogs are dear to me, but a child.... Bless you and your youngsters, too!

Rabidstoat, Welcome back from your wonderful trip to Disney! Sorry you came back feeling so bad. Hope you're better quick! Appreciated your "topless" horse story, too! And for you, and Jilly, and anyone who still needs to hear it: Put DOWN the wrappers, and STEP AWAY from the CHOCOLATE! ... or else at least hand me a tootsie roll.

PrincessPuffyPants, BACK, and glad you're recommitting to the gym!! I remember you from when I first came here, last summer. I just went thru a spell like yours but am back on track now, too. I even just joined Curves, but I don't know if I can call it "the gym".

Hi Mazarin, Jill, Everyone! Keep up the good fight! I'm off to wrap Christmas stuff and do some homework.

Well, I survived my doctor's appointment, hurrah! This new doctor is so nice. She really is like a normal person, go figure! We talked about weight management, and health risks, but it was totally not in a 'I am your superior let me lecture you' sort of way. So nice! So I'm really glad I went.

I got my annual pap smear out of the way (yuck) and had four vials of blood taken for tests. My blood pressure was a little too high, and she's suggested I check it a couple times a week and come back in a month, so I made a followup appointment. She also suggested checking in every 2-3 months with her, if I wanted, while trying to lose weight and get healthier. I think I'll do that. I'm sure insurance will cover it with my copay, so it's not that expensive, and they have office hours where I can be in and out before I have to go to work.

Still gotta wait for the blood test results on cholesterol and stuff. And I still have this stupid cold which makes me feel lousy, but it's a little better today.

And now I have to go eat! It was a fasting blood test and stupid me ate dinner early last night, so I'm ravenous.

Another day, and still no TOM. I am just about to break down and go get an EPT. I have to go to the dentist tomorrow because I had a crown come loose. I'll have to tell them no X-rays just in case. Jilly may be right. My cycle stopped until I reached about 450lbs. on the way down, but I have been regular to the minute for over a year now. I was also using Black Cohosh which is a natural estrogen herb. It is supposed to help with pre-menopausal things like hot flashes and balance hormones better. It took care of those heavy puberty type periods right away. My ovaries may not know they are 43 years old. They were kind of asleep for about 8 years. Good thing that I have been taking an adequate dose of folic acid and calcium. It is amazing the kinds of things that eating healthy can get you.

Whoa! If that's what healthy eating can get you give me some junk food now!

Just kidding! I'm happy for you Catherine, since I know that you and DH-2B want children. I'd have a heart attack I think if I were you though. DH and I put off children when we got married and now I'm just to set in my ways and too happy with my life to want more kids. My own is out of daycare!

Julee: Good for you on the loss.

Sounds like you ladies have been doing well! This is just kind of a drive-by post... but I had to comment on Catherine's comment.

Have a terrific day and stay away from the Halloween Candy - that stuff is just EVIL!

Hello All,

I am back. There has been so much going on here and I am so tired I can't even begin to comment on all the posts I have fallen behind on replying to. Just want you all to know that I have read everything, and am happy for those that have had losses, and yay to Alison for getting back on track and losing 2 lbs! I am still holding my breath (metaphorically speaking of course) for Catherine to find out if she is pregnant!!

As for my hubby's ex, thank you to all that showed concern about the trouble she could cause, and me possibly comfort eating. Well we changed our phone number, so she can't ring anymore, but I still can't be sure that she hasn't found out where we live. She is a violent woman who has threatened my step daughter. Saying she would break her legs if she comes near her again because she told us what the mother's boyfriend did. I won't go into detail, but suffice to say that the social services told us not to let access or any communication between the mum and that lot and my step daughter happen. That's one of the reasons why I am so worried about her possibly knowing where we live. It also hurts to know that one of my hubby's family betrayed us by at least passing on the number. We are ex directory so there's no way she would find it any other way. But enough about all that.

We all managed to put it to the back of our minds and the last two days have been wonderful. It was hubby's birthday yesterday and my step daughters birthday today. I didn't have to worry about comfort eating because these two days have been a total break from dieting. I won't go into what I ate altogether because I don't want to make you all hungry lol. But suffice to say I thoroughly enjoyed my break from dieting and intend to be fully back on track in the morning.

I thank you all for being here for me and being such great people. It makes all the difference to getting back on a diet when you know you have to do it for yourself AND to show friends that you can do it. Take care all, and bye for now,

Big Hugs

Ammi

Hi everyone,

Ahhhh...my little ones are asleep. It's so peaceful, at least for the moment. I have often wondered why I'm so overweight when I spend so much time running after my kids.

Brenda: It sounds like you had a blast shopping with your sister. Makes me miss my sisters. And good job at the restaurant. Isn't it nice when you find yourself eating less without really trying? Oh, and isn't chocolate about the most tempting thing there is?

Jill: I had to get our candy out of the house, I couldn't resist just a piece here and a piece there until I was eating like, 10 pieces at a time! I feel your pain.

Alison: I'm glad you're back. I know it can be hard to get back on track, but I think losing weight for me is a lot like quitting smoking, it took me several tries before it actually "stuck," but I'm really glad I didn't give up. Good job on the loss!

Julee: Way to go on the loss! I'm sorry Jason is having trouble with the phone company...I've been down that road. At one point as I finished the conversation, I said, "Please don't say 'Thank you for using BellSouth;' It's not like I have a choice!" That was back when you DIDN'T have a choice.

Valerie: I like to weigh first thing in the morning, too. I can gain 5 pounds in a day!

rabidstoat: I had a good laugh about your shirt on the saddlehorn incident. My sister lived on a horse farm for a while and I used to take my older daughters out to ride sometimes. One day I decided I would try it, too. A few minutes later I was laying on my back in the mud. The saddle slipped under the horse when I put my foot in the stirrup to get on! Man, was I embarassed. I wasn't exactly the smallest thing around anyway. I'm glad your dr. appt. went well. Since I've just come into insurance (since the wedding ), I'm planning on making an appointment some time soon. Don't ya hate those fasting blood sugar tests? I always end up with a day long headache. Hope your cold gets better soon!

Catherine: Keep us posted! I'm anxious to find out!

Ammi: I'm so sorry you've had such a tough time with your DH's ex. Hopefully she won't give you any more trouble. It's unbelievable how some people treat kids--I know my own daughters have seen more than their share of troubles. I'm glad that you have had a couple of days of peace and that y'all got to celebrate your hubby's birthday, sounds like fun!

Well, I guess I'll head off to bed soon. It's so tempting sometimes to stay up late just to enjoy the quiet!

so rather than go to the gym tonight i helped some friends move into their new house. so up and down stairs all night, plus carrying and lifting heavy stuff, i think i made up for it

Ammi - im sorry to hear about your family issues. I know all too well about a crazy mom. i think we talked about that before. I would love to chat with you again soon, but i never see you on my buddy list.

Catherine - sometimes stress can make you miss, so the excitement of meeting your DH2B may have set you off. but in any case, i hope you get what you want, be it pregnant or not

everyone else - thanks for the welcome back. im just hanging out these days. no job, but thats what unemployment is for and im going back to school in the fall for cosmetology so im pretty excited about that. im also seriously considering actually joining weight watchers and going to meetings and everything. i think that will be my christmas present to myself. what better gift than a hot *** right?

happy skinny thoughts to you all

This started me off with a little chuckle this morning--thanks, princess!

Well, all that candy I've been eating didn't hurt to much. I weighed in with a loss of 2.25 pounds at TOPS last night That puts me down 5.5 pounds in the past 2 weeks. Looks like I've finally found a calorie range that works for me I've now lost exactly 32 pounds since I joined TOPS (plus a few pounds before I joined), so I have a chance to win a division award at State Recognition Day in the spring 32 pounds doesn't seem like much compared to how great some others around here are doing who joined around the same time as me, but at least I'm heading in the right direction. Slow and steady wins the race, right?

Hello,

I really enjoyed my two days off the diet, but you know what? It feels fantastic being back on it!! If anything, over the past couple of days I actually hated feeling so full lol and I am enjoying being back to feeling just satisfied when I eat. I even toyed with the idea of saying, well it's Friday, let's forget about the diet until Monday, but I didn't really want to wait that long. That's a first!! So the booze is back in the cupboard, the naughty food is there for the rest of the family to eat, and I am BACK lol

Luan - I am sorry that you are out of work right now, but I think your plans to do full time cosmetology in the fall sounds great. I hope you will really enjoy it.

Thanks for your commiserations about the family issues and yes I do remember you telling me about your mum. Yes it has seem way too long since we chatted. I wonder if I have your name right on my buddy list because I never see you on either Can you PM it to me or even send me an offline yahoo message so I can make sure I have it?

Amy - I am glad you have insurance now and hope your visit when you make ito the doctors goes well. Oh yes those fasting blood tests are the pits. Our surgery is even worse because they give you an appt for say 10 am when you have already done the sufficient fasting and you are starving. But then you don't get seen on the dot of 10 am, once I was still waiting at 12 to be seen!!! I wasn't amused at all.

As for phone companies, yes it is fabulous to actually have a choice these days of who you go with. We used to be with a company called BT. This was the only company for a long time. They brag that they are so fantastic but if you have a fault on your line they are sooooo slow to sort it out. They say they will have it fixed within so many working days, but they don't. 3 years ago we had a fault on our line, it was an intermittent one and we still don't know what caused it. Anyway we rang BT and first they said there was no fault, and they carried on saying that. Then we eventually convinced them to pay a visit to check out the system. BUT we were due to go to Vegas for 9 days so we told them that so they wouldn't call when we were away. We got back from holiday and found a card saying they had called, we refused them entry so they cancelled the job!!! We were soon back onto them, keeping in mind that not only were we without a phone, but Internet too. They told us they could get an engineer to call but it wouldn't be until about 7 weeks time, which took us into the new year!!! So we cancelled with them then and there and went over to NTL which is a cable company which supplies phone, broadband internet and SKY channels. It was the best move we ever made and we were up and running within a week of us calling them!! We sometimes get letters from BT saying how we should go back to them, YEAH RIGHT, NOT, lol. So like you said, it is great to have a choice!

LOL I couldn't help but smile, although I am sure it wasn't funny at the time, at the picture of you trying to get on that horse and having the saddle turn when you put your foot in the stirrup, resulting in you ending up on the floor in the mud I hope it was only your pride that was a bit dented!! When I was 12 I went away to a horse riding camp. I must admit that although I liked riding, I was dead scared of the horses. Worried they would throw me, worried that when I was leading it by the reigns it would tread on my foot, and worried most of all that the thing would bolt while I was on it lol. My poor friend ended up with her horse getting a bit excited about being near a waterhole. We had to walk to the waters edge while on the horse so they could get a drink. My friends horse decided that wasn't enough and went all the way in and then rolled And get this, my friend got in trouble for letting it happen. We were all novices so how were we supposed to know how to stop that happening. She ended up having to walk the horse back to the homebase and then spending time cleaning the horse off and then cleaning and waxing her saddle!!

OOps sorry for such a long post, I am making up for my lost days here lol.

Jill - that is so awesome that you have lost another 2.25 lbs. You are really doing awesome I have two more weeks before I weigh and I am really going to try my best to make up for the two days I was off my diet. I want to see 4lbs gone when I weigh next. I know I shouldn't set myself a challenge but perhaps that's what I need to do better than I have been. But anyway you keep up the fabulous job you are doing.

Ok well I am still trying to catch up on emails lol, so I better go now and do that, then hopefully SHARON, I will catch you on MSN this afternoon.

Take care all,

Hugs,

Ammi
