Default Exercise and Yoga Question

What kind and how often do you do it? I usually walk but I noticed that, I think it was Judy, someone does yoga. I have a tape but never mastered the moves. What tape you do use and do you just do the stretches or the exercise program (like pilates) with it? I have a lot of hip and back pain that is relieved with stretches and I think yoga might be a good way for me to go. I also have foot problems and can't do the jumping around stuff not to mention being a little over the hill age wise

I have to exercise if I want to lose and if I want to maintain. When my exercise program goes out the front door the pounds come in the back.

Sitting at this computer doesn't help so I guess I'll go hit the treadmill!

Default Why yes I do yoga

Fiftieslady,

I do yoga everyonce in a while ( I don't get much time to myself, I have a three year old) But when I get a moment to myself I do it. Th e one that I have is very easy to do. It is called Crunch Candlelight yoga. It is very relaxing. There is nothing hard about it. I weigh 200 pounds and I can do it with no problems. I found mine on ebay. I was brand new. Good Luck

Thanks. I will try to find it. I have a very stressful job at times and I need something to help me relax.
One more question--how do yall put the signature lines in where your weight shows?

Janette,

Yes, I do yoga. It has been very helpful especially with my hips that were aching a bit once I got into a classroom. It's also a fantastic way to relax and release stress.

I have a lot of tapes and I agree that Crunch Candlelight Yoga is a good, non-threatening tape/dvd to start with. Sarah Ivanhoe is very good at explaining what you should be doing. I also encourage you to see if there is a yoga studio nearby that has a class that welcomes beginners. There is *nothing* like a live class with a good instructor who can help adjust your poses to the correct alignment. I've been to a few live classes along the way and they also helped me a lot.

Thanks everyone. I wish there was a class near me. I would love to go and learn. But I will do the next best thing and try the tapes. I can see why you would want someone to make sure you were doing it right. I think you could hurt yourself very quickly otherwise.

I took a yoga class my junior year of college, and still try to practice the sun salutes when I can. I use the AM/PM yoga conditioning for weight loss DVD through Gaiam. I've tried to use the OM yoga cards for couples, which seemed promising, but usually my husband and I wind up in severe pain (our extreme height difference makes some of the poses impossible) or laughing too hard to complete the program.

Cheers!
