I'll have to post more tomorrow or Wed - I have class soon and then it's back to school for "back to School Night". I had a great result at the scale - I lost the 2.8 I gained last week but 0.4 more for a grand total of 3.2 (most of it water). This weekend was a bit of a bust - I felt pretty sick by Sat morning, went to the doctor instead of to synagogue - which was a good thing because I was starting to develop bronchitis. I got a Z-pack and while I don't feel exactly well today, I feel a lot better than Sat. I basically stayed in bed all weekend except to go to my mom's on Sat for the break fast (I didn't fast because I was sick). I used a bunch of WPA's but that's what they are there for. No exercise for me today or tomorrow at least - I need to feel better by the weekend for the wedding in VA.

Have a great one!

Hi all.

Judy - Congrats on a terrific loss! I'm so sorry to hear that you're not feeling well, but glad that you got to the doctor before full-blown bronchitis set in. It's too bad you were sick for Yom Kippur, but I guess it's good you had the weekend to rest up.

My weekend was so-so. We went to an art fair yesterday, so I got some walking in. Other than that, same-old, same-old. Talk to you more tomorrow.

Hope you feel better soon, Judy! Congratulations on your loss; that's terrific!

I had a lazy day yesterday; I feel like I'm fighting something off but don't really have much in the way of symptoms except for a sinus headache that comes and goes. Saturday we went to a potluck at friends; most of us are trying to lose, so the food was pretty friendly. Mike bought two fundraising chocolate bars from some kids on Saturday afternoon; they lasted a grand total of about 20 minutes before I had them both polished off.

I continue to feel very hormonal; I'm about 2 weeks late and no relief in sight. Bleah. I think I'm going to have to extend that 5 lb goal to the end of October.

Have a great day...

Karen

Karen - I hope you are able to fight off whatever it is. Ugh - don't you just hate those fundraising chocolate bars? They had some at back-to-school night last night and even though it was for a worthy cause, I passed right by. I suppose I could have bought the bars and just thrown them out but I figured it was better to ignore them totally.

Good thing I passed ont he chocolate bars because when I got home, I had the snackies - first time in a long time. I dug out Tony's cashews from the back of the closet and dived right in. I think it was a combination of getting home late, trying to unwind and the prospect of Tony possibly taking a new job - one in which he is interested and thinks he can earn a bunch BUT might involve a lot of evening hours (from 7-9) and some Saturdays. He's going to find out more about it (in terms of how many evenings, to start and as things continue) and we decided that it's worth a try but still, the prospect of not seeing each other a lot during the week doesn't thrill me. Of course, snacking doesn't help - something to work on.

Class tonight but at least I won't be home as late tonight. Have a great one,
Judy

Hi all.

Karen - I hope you're not coming down with anything and that you're feeling better. Those fund-raising chocolate bars are the work of the devil, I tell you. I'm not sure they would last even 20 minutes in my presence. ANd may your hormones stop wrecking havoc on you soon. I join you in having to extend the 5 pound goal into October. Sigh.

Judy - Good for you on passing on those chocolate bars. At least you snacked on something relatively healthy. Those hours for the new job Tony is thinking of aren't great. But if it's something he's interested in and it can be monetarily beneficial, it may be worth it. Is Tony enjoying retirement, or is he finding it hard not to be out in the world doing something. I know that as much as I love being home for Ana, I'm having a hard time with it, especially now that she's back in school all day. It's hard to shift gears, sometimes.

Well, I have to post another gain - 2.2 pounds. I can get my act together, but have a hard time keeping it together after a few days. But this climb back to my starting point is frightening. It seems like overnight eating that in the pastwould have earned me a maintain at most now just packs the pounds on. I guess 45 was the magic number for my metabolism slowing way down. I know what I have to do - stick with the plan, and even more importantly, get my butt in gear and get moving. Now I just have to find the motivation to do it. And find a better way to deal with stress. And find some things to fill my time. So far a good start to the day - I've had my shredded wheat (I'm sticking with core this week) and skimmed milk and I'm heading out of the house in a few minutes to help the director of our parish's pre-school religious ed program (for which I'm a teacher on Sundays) get ready for classes to start. So I'll talk to you all later.

Have a great day.

Karen - sorry to hear about the hormonal he**. I certainly know the feeling. I have a feeling I'm going to be early again - I have a few signs - breakout, salty cravings - sigh - doesn't this guessing game get old? I don't know what's worse, being late or being early. I vote to stopping all together! I'm joining you in extending into Oct too.

Carla - sorry about the gain. I *know* you can string more than a few good days together! You know I'm with you on the push for more activity. I think it's the only thing to keep things moving for women of our, um, vintage. I hvaen't much felt like a drill sargeant since this cold, but how about if we all take it one week at a time. I'm going to commit to doing *something* 4 days next week (unless the cold gets worse). Want to take me up on an activity challenge (the number for next week is your choice)?

I had a good day yesterday. The head of the dept approved my taking the literacy practica before student teaching - yeah! The date I actually finish will depend on when certain courses are given (e.g, will a particular course be given in August) and how much I can do (e.g., I don't know if I can sanely take two courses in the 5 week session mid May- mid-June which means 4 times a week, 3 hours at a time). The important thing though is that I can continue through at least most of the summer and that he agreed with the value of the experience I've gained so far. I did have a bit of a salty craving last night and had some PB which I really didn't have points for but I decided that tonight, I'll satisfy it with popcorn. We're leaving tomorrow for the weekend - I'm just going to try my best with food and dance as much as possible on Sat night.

If I don't get back on, have a great weekend!

Hi all.

Judy - I'm so glad to hear that the department head agreed with you! That's terrific news. The decision makes perfect sense, too. Good for you! Interesting choice of PB to get through the salty cravings. I love PB, but it's never come to mind when I've been craving the salty stuff. Popcorn, on the other hand.... it's helped me keep my grasp on eating sanity more than once. Ok, I'm with you on the activity challenge next week and I'll join you in making it four days. Oh, and I'm with you on stopping the hormanal **** all together too. Have a great time this weekend. I hope you have time to get out and about in Charlottesville. I've been there briefly and I think it's such a pretty town. Actually all of VA is pretty beautiful.

One good day down, another one launched. I've got to remember that all I can do is take this one meal at a time. I also have to remember that eating doesn't solve anything but hunger. Monday is our meeting with the team that will be evaluating Ana for dyslexia. And Monday afternoon I have a preliminary job interview in the city. Gads, I don't look forward to commuting into the city again, but this job actually appeals to me and, if it works out, could probably be done on flex hours/working from home a couple of days a week. We'll see.

Have a great day.

Carla - good luck tomorrow on both accounts! Another thing that has kept me sane sometimes on core is that I can have snacks of fruits and the like whenever I feel hungy - I've been thinking of core as "one hunger pang at a time!" You are so right that eating doesn't solve anything but hunger! Yes, we did get out in Charlottesville on Friday including the downtown mall Friday night and went to Montecello yesterday which was wonderful! Yes, I agree, Virginia is beautiful.

I can't say I've been stellar this weekend but I haven't gone overboard either AND I danced up a storm last night - I was dripping wet so I figure that I worked off some of the things that weren't core. I haven't counted anything so I figure I'll start tomorrow giving myself 20 - 25 points for the rest of the week. I'll have to fill my quota of 4 activity sessions this week with some upper body strength work and yoga because the lack of sleep/flying whatever has definitely not helped the illness - I don't feel like it's bronchitis at this point but I've got a heck of a cold.

Almost time for the brunch - have a great one!
