Default Somebody to stick with me

Hi there. I am looking to find a buddy to stick together with on the road to losing weight. I am looking to lose about 20 pounds through exercise and diet (if i can control myself) But relying heavily on the exercise portion. Please respond if you are looking for support too.

Hey there...I'd be glad to stick with you...I have more to lose then you do, so I'll be going through this for a while....I'm probably not the best person for advice as I am new to a lot of this, but I am great for encouragement!

I bought a treadmill and a bunch of videos and now workout everyday for about an hour. I try not to eat dairy and am trying to watch what I eat. Unfortunately I have no will power and tend to eat constantly through the day. that's really where I need you to come in and keep me motivated.

How do you like curves? My sister and a couple of my friends do it. I thought about joining but since I dropped all the cash on my at-home "gym" I think it will have to be postponed.

Well it sounds like we are on the right track. I think we will both do great.

Well are you at home all day or do you work? One thing you could try if you are compelled to snack is not keep any junk in the house...only get things like grapes, or strawberries and other fruit/vegetables/healthy snacks...Also you could try not have a real breakfast or lunch, instead break them into seperate snacks that you can spread out a little through the day... Also, I was wondering if you were lactose intolerant, since you said you were cutting out dairy.... I have read that milk can help you lose weight and for women the calcium is very important...

You might want to check those two little tid-bits out and read further into it if you aren't lactose intolerant....

I work in an office....which doesn't help cause people are always bringing candy and cake type stuff in. I like the idea of eating small snacks instead of breakfast and lunch. One of my favorite things is naked juices. It contains about 1 pound of fruit and the only other ingredient is water. I figure I can have that as my first "snack of the day"

I am lactose intolerant and take calcium and multi-vitamins daily. Since I don't get a lot of calcium I know I have to take the supplement.

Well that must stink being lactose intolerant...but at least it makes icecream less of a temptation (Trying to look on the bright side of everything)... I've never heard of naked juices... where do you get something like that?

Hi there, 2bthin2, I would enjoy talking with someone and joining in with other people who have weight to loose. I am new here as well and have been trying to lose weight for about 2 years now off and on. I started my weight loss in Oct/2002. I have managed to loose 49 pounds to date and not gain anything in the process. I have a real problem eating right. I have exercising down to a science because I enjoy the classes that I attend at my school. Its that eating think that I just cant correct. Anyways, I am looking to finally shed this last 24 pounds. Its hard but if I can stick to eating right I can do it. Look forward to talking with you.

Welcome trenice. I just joined today since I'm finally ready to get serious on this. It sounds like you are doing great so keep up the good work.

I wish the lactose intolerance worked in my favor but it wouldn't deter me from ice cream, cheese or chocolate. Now that I'm avoiding dairy all together it's a little easier.

Has anyone tried the firm tapes. I got sucked into the infomercials (it doesn't matter what it is i can't seem to change the channel) and ordered it after reading reviews of the programs on several different websites. This is all part of stepping up the workouts I have been doing. I know I am building muscle it's just buried under the nasty fat.

I have never heard of the firm tapes. I dont do much exercise at home mostly outdoors. I have been thinking about buying some tapes to do at home. My birthday is coming up and may get an elliptical machine but I dont know. Will I get on it, hummmmmmmmm, I dont know. Let me know about some of your new workout tapes, maybe I could try that first. Thats not too much of an investment. My favorite is step, I love step aerobics. Have you tried any of those?

I used to do one religously....but when I recently moved I threw it away.......if only I had known. I have been doing pilates and bar method type exercises. But they don't really make you take off any weight....they just build muscle. I bought two higher energy tapes which I received last night. The first one i tried looked like they were in fast forward mode and I could have hurt some one if I had really tried it. The other one is cicuit training. I managed to complete it and liked it. It definitly made me sweat which I guess was the point. How have you taken off weight?

Jenn - i get the naked juice at a little deli near my house. You can check it out on nakedjuice.com. I'm partial to the berry and strawberry ones.

Thanks Joanne - They it in the city so maybe I will try it next time I'm in or around Boston...Also I have hard of the firm tapes but never tried them myself... you should check the exercise threads to see what people say about them.

Trenice - Ellipictal mahines are a great workout if you can get yourself to stick with it...It works the whole body at once pretty much so it's worth a shot... you've come so far already!

I have never tried an elliptical machine but I hear they are fantastic. I guess to try one out I would either have to embarress myself in a store or join a gym........lesser of the two evils. I have never fancied the idea of going to a gym to work out with people I don't know. Maybe I am too self-conscious........but I wouldn't want people looking at me thinking thank god she joined....poor thing. LOL

I felt the same way... That's why I joined Curves, it's all women which is a better, but at first I still would only go if I was with my mom or my sister Sometimes I still feel like people are judging me, but usually not, and I just don't look at other people in hopes they won't look at me, especially since it seems like I sweat so much when I'm there, it seems like I'm the only one with sweating
