I'm not sure where Marcie is this morning? Hope everything is okay.
It is hard to believe that it has been two years since the 9/11 tragedy touched us all so deeply. As we reflect on the past two years and the changes that have been brought about as a result of that horrible day, it seems appropriate to send out healing prayers and thoughts to those who are suffering.
So as you move through your hectic lives, please try and reflect on the significance of this day. Say a prayer, have a moment of silence, keep a good thought....do something to commemorate the lifes lost and the losses suffered.
"The best thing to do when the worst thing happens is to begin moving forward again." Wise words from Ralph Marston via Mooz's journal.
And wise words from Frannymae!
As I move through my day, I will remember 9/11/01 and pray for all the losses our country has suffered because of that one horrible act...and the losses we are still suffering trying to help others.
I don't know what we can do about it except to show, through our daily lives, a caring attitude for others. My mother used to say that you can never change anyone except yourself.
My goal today is to show a caring attitude and to try to touch someone elses life in a positive way. Maybe just with a phone call, or a visit, or a hug. Is anyone with me on this?
You are an amazing bunch of women!!! Do you ever go back and re-read these threads??? I am sitting here in tears, reading your lovely thoughts!
Today is a tough day for us. We lost friends 2 yrs. ago... Today we (family) dressed in R,W &B, we have our flag out and I'm a wreck 'cuz my DH is in NYC today. I think it's a good day to do positive things for others like you all say! I also think it's a good day to do something nice for ourselves... what are you going to do today? I'm starting SBD! I know shouldn't think of a diet as something scary, but I think I'm freaking out anyway!
xoxo,
Robin
Thank you, Robin! Know that up here in a tiny village in Canada, you just inspired a somewhat sad woman to hang out her Stars and Stripes today!
And welcome to The Beach!
Deets, I am trying hard to think of someone who needs a hug more than I do but I am sure I will find somebody. Hey! Harry probably really needs extra hugs! Thanks.
Sharon~ I'm with ya. Sounds like your Mom is a very wise woman Like Michael Jackson said "I'm startin with the man (or fatchick as the case may be) in the mirror"
Robin~We lost a good friend also. I'm sure your DH will be allright : Ditto on the Flag, raised it last night.
I'm sending bunches of hugs to all you chickies! I am going to attempt my first SBD grocery shopping trip! I sure wish I had the book already! I'm just using the "new phase I allowed" list from the sticky, and a couple of sample menu items/recipies... any last minute meal tips for an easy first day?
Try to smile a lot today! Everyone looks better when they smile, and studies show that certain endorphins are released into our systems when we smile(even when it's a fake smile) Those endorphins make us feel good! So get smilin' !!!
xoxo,
Robin
J&LMOM - You are I are in the same boat. I am on day 3 of phase I and my book is still on backorder at Amazon. I've also been using the updated phase I list, and it seems to be working so far. I really enjoy the veggie quiche cups to go because they are tasty and convenient. I made mine with egg substitute, spinach, asparagus, red pepper, onion flakes and low fat cheddar. I also made the cocoa ricotta dessert and that has been helping to curb my sweet tooth while filling me up after dinner. My first shopping trip was stocking up on a LOT of fresh and frozen veggies as well as egg substitute and low fat cheese. I also got sugar free jello for when I'm dying for something sweet at work. I have plenty of chicken and venison at home. By the way, venison is not on any list that I have found so far, but I am assuming it is OK since it is similar to chicken breast?
Good luck!!! Like I said it is only day 3 for me but I am still feeling pretty good!
This day will forever be one of mixed emotions for me , as it is also my DS's birthday (28 today). My flag has been up since the crack of dawn. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who lost friends/family that day
Ruth~~{{{HUGS}}} to you and H. :
Imaxin and J&LMOM~~~Congrats on taking that first step onto the beach
Yesterday I was going to make the Pistachio Bark recipe from the book but I found a small container of SF Almond Bark made with Splenda at Walmart. I was so pleased with myself that I was content with 2 small pieces and a mug of decaf coffee last night
I feel so much more in control since I started SBD. Of course, I still have my "free meal" once a week
