Good afternoon, ladies! 59 degrees right now and sunshine.
I have an appointment with the doc for my wrist at 2 PM. I was going to wait until after the holidays but my nurse friend told me to go now since it is hurting me all the time and OTC stuff doesn't help.
We had so much fun making our baskets yesterday. It's just so good to get together with friends.
Some people are just too stupid to be left out on their own. Night before last a woman was sitting in the 7-Eleven parking lot at 1:15 am and a man approached her and she invited him into her car to talk - and he robbed her. How dumb is it to let a stranger into your car!
Faye, I imagine the delivery persons are starting to get rushed already. They have put GPS trackers in packages here and dressed police as delivery people and are trying to crack down on packages being stolen from porches.
Jean, I really think you should have been a CPA!
Maggie, TX spring will be here before you know it.
Good Afternoon! It's 53 degrees in my corner of the world right now! I hope we don't pay for this nice weather in January. Our snow is melting fast; the sun has been in and out all day. I ran some errands this morning, went to lunch bunch, have bell practice in an hour or so, then another Christmas dinner for Bob's manor board tonight. Tomorrow night is Ian's concert and then I think we are done with commitments until I have card club on the 21st. Maybe I will get the tree decorated yet!
Maggie, I know you will have fun with your new cookbook! Glad the rain has stopped and you are drying out.
Susan, thanks for starting the new thread today! Did you do something to your wrist or is it a carpal tunnel problem? Either way I hope the doctor can help you. I had to laugh at me being a CPA. NO WAY! It's ok if everything goes as it should but if there is a problem I add when I should subtract and subtract when I should add.
I need to clear off my kitchen counter and get my Christmas list started. Hope you are all enjoying a nice day!
Good evening everyone. I never did get in here this morning. I have a lot of housecleaning to do and I am having so much pain with the female stuff I can't even force myself to work. I did get quite abit done this morning though.
Jack wanted some ice cream so he went to get his favorite. I don't eat the stuff as it is too many points and I am slightly lactose intolerant so I tend not to eat ice cream very often at all.
Susan: You seem to have one thing after another. Do you have any kind of brittle bone problem or such? Seems like there is always something you have to have repaired and such. I will pray for you that a great solution can be found to help you out. Glad you had a nice time doing the baskets.
Jean: You are always so very busy. Mostly what keeps me busy seems to be doctor's appointments lately. I didn't get the mammogram done because of a snafu so now I have to wait until February because I don't know how they are going to do the hysterectomy so wanted to make sure I would be in a situation where I could drive. I have my pharmacy appointment on Monday. I don't see it being much of a problem though.
Everyone have a good evening. I made a chicken rice casserole and we ate and have it all cleaned up so I am going to watch some tv.
♪♥♫GOOD EVENING IN DECEMBER MAGNOLIAS
It has been a wonderful beautiful day here this day. We had fun going to a couple different stores and picking up some needful things. I have finished having my meals today and still have 5 Smart Points left. I think later I just might have some cut up veggies and dip and will call it good.
Thanks SUSAN for starting a new thread. Ouch on your hand . . . I hope the recovery is short and you are back to exact quickly.
JEAN Looks like you do have a busy schedule with little time to get into trouble. Don’t you just love this time of the year. Are you still attending WW? I sure like what I have found about it so far. They are steering us toward healthier eating.
DONNA FAYE That is nice you have most of your Christmas shopping done. Bet that gives you a good feeling amongst your health issues which must be a drag.
Good Morning! We've had a rain shower, nonstop wind, and now the sun is peeking out. It's a warm 45 degrees. Nice! I talked to the generator man and he is coming Monday. I'm hoping the warmer weather holds and they can get it installed asap. I forgot to pick up fish oil so made a trip to Walgreens already this morning, two loads of laundry done, and now need to unload the dishwasher. I'm hoping to do some Christmas shopping before Ian's concert tonight. Next week should be a slower week around here, I hope. I need some home/me time big time. There is someone, around here, who is poisoning cats and shooting dogs that are running loose. The dogs have collars and tags so obviously pets. It makes me sick.
"Gma," I'm sorry about the mammogram snafu. Your chicken and rice casserole sounds good. I/we have eaten out so much I am hungry for something home cooked. Can't believe I said that! I hope you are feeling better today.
Maggie, no I am not going to WW. The morning meeting is no longer, and the evening meeting is during the hour I have bell practice. The leader told me I could come after practice and weigh in but I feel it's important to attend the meetings, at least in the beginning. It was getting pretty expensive when I wasn't making much progress. I do get a newsletter from a WW leader with meeting information, recipes, etc.
I need to think of something for lunch and unload the dishwasher. Enjoy a terrific Thursday!
Good morning, ladies! 61 degrees today with sunshine.
The doc sent me to get an x-ray of my wrist and the results should be in today. I can't believe how quickly I got everything done. I left home at 1:50 and was back from both the doc and hospital for x-ray by 2:30. I was sure I'd be sitting at the hospital but they processed me right away. The tech said they were having a slow day. Doc said she will probably be sending me to the hand specialist after she gets the x-ray. She said it could be arthritis but she thinks I've either broken it (with osteoporosis it can break on its own) or more likely have some type of cysts in a cluster.
Yesterday was the last day my knitting group will be meeting until the second week of January. We had a lot of fun. Tomorrow is tea with Glory.
Faye, I do have a lot of dumb health issues. Fortunately they keep patching me up and I keep on going like the Energizer bunny. Some of my issues, such as osteoporosis, have come from long, long use of cortecosteroids and Prednisone.
Jean, Too bad about there not being a convenient WW meeting. I think this is the best plan yet.
Maggie, I keep forgetting I have more Smart Points and have been having hot coco made with 1% milk in the evening.
Good Afternoon! The sun has come out but with the wind, it has that cold damp feeling outside. I did a couple errands this morning and crossed off a couple more gifts from my list. We did some power shopping in Sioux Falls yesterday, and picked up a few things there. My goal is to get the tree decorated and clear some things off the livingroom shelves and mantle so I can put the Christmas decoration boxes away.
Susan, whatever the diagnosis for your wrist, I hope you won't need surgery. Does it bother you more when you are knitting or quilting? It was nice to have your appointments done quickly. Enjoy your tea with Glory tomorrow!
I need to keep moving or I won't get anything done this afternoon. Enjoy the rest of a fantastic Friday!
It is another beautiful day here in TX. I put a roast in the crock pot before we went to town and we could smell it when we drove up here to park and get out. I cut slices in it and inserted garlic pieces and then sprinkled a packet of onion soup over it and poured half a bottle of red wine over it all to help tenderize it. I served it with some rice and a green beans for dinner. My snack of choice now is veggies that I have cut up and have them in baggies ~ baby carrots, celery, radishes & thin sliced jicama.
When we go to the store again I will get cauliflower and broccoli to add to the other ones. They make a great snack or veggie to go along with a meal.
::
We just got back from seeing lights and stopping at the grocery store to get some fresh fruit. I got seedless red grapes, Haloes (tangerines), and red delicious apples. All are zero points so that made me very happy.
The weather man said we are in for around 7 inches of rain starting tonight so we will park the car on higher ground even than where we have been parking it to make it easier to get out. I have got to find a home in this MH for some needful things in boxes Will brought in for me.
JEAN What fun to decorate this time of year. We got some nice lights to string across our awning and about the only ones that will see them are us and our host or the folks about a mile or so away. We like them so we want them up for the season.
SUSAN I do hope what ever they do to your wrist fixes you up to exact. I haven't used any of my weekly points and some days not even my daily points. I know I should eat all my daily points and will strive to do better.
Good morning to you all. It is pleasantly warm this morning. I even had the fans on all night last night. It isn't going to last more than a day or so, but I will take it while I can get it. We will still be about normal temps by about 10 degrees after our warm spurt. Keeping my fingers crossed we have no snow this year.
I went out to WM and picked up some things yesterday and then came home and put them away and flumped down on the recliner. I don't know the reasoning, but I no longer have days of no pain. I told Jack that yesterday even the muscles in my behind were cramping up and the pain was shooting down my legs. I am going to tackle upstairs early this morning and get as much done as I can because when it cranks up I just can't stand to do anything.
I have a pharmacy appointment on Monday so we shall see how I am coming along with the Belviq. My new scale will weigh me or not weigh me it is ridiculous and I don't want to constantly be calling them to go in and weigh. I know try as hard as I did, I gained weight over our vacation.
Susan: My mil had to take cortisone for years for a brain surgery she had when Jack was a teenager. It is one of those medications that protect you but put you in the soup too. She passed away from complications from having taken it for decades. Hopefully your wrist isn't broken.
Maggie: Hope you enjoyed your roast. I like to use burgundy on beef products. It gives it such a nice flavor.
Jean: Hopefully your days will settle down soon. Have fun getting all your decorations up. I want to go out maybe this weekend and look at the decorations. I did that for my two kids each year. I started it in New Mexico where is was warmer. Kelly was a newborn and Jay was 4. I would get him ice cream and then drive around and look at decorations. One of the things popular out there was lining lunch sacks along sidewalks with candles in them. I always figured sooner or later someone would knock them over and cause a fire. Anyway, each year I would do this and we did it clear up until Kelly left home. I found this adorable Christmas card for Jackson that had R2D2 and C3PO on the front with something about celebrating 7 millions Christmases and you open it and R2D2 sings Christmas carols (in that tweety pinging language of his.) I bought him a $15 Dairy Queen card, told him the story and told him to get his parents to take him. They have this older very large subdivision there called Winding Brook and they have outrageous decorations. It takes about an hour to go through the streets, but nowadays they have directions and everything and there is a contest and all. Some of them are quite spectacular. The only thing is go to the bathroom first!
Everyone have a great Saturday. I am going to take my blood sugar and get myself some breakfast.
Good Morning! It's a gloomy morning so far, with rain showers in the forecast. I am staying home today! I have LOTS to do but will multi task doing some laundry at the same time. At least I can see progress in that chore. I play bells tomorrow then can cross that off my list. I will be "in charge" of getting the money locked away, on Sundays after first service, for a few weeks, while the regular gal spends the holidays in Arizona.
Maggie, I can almost smell your roast clear up here. Supposedly the price of cauliflower is going to be much higher. I am just repeating what the produce manager told a gal who buys food for her church dinners. But then, what hasn't gone up? There is a huge Christmas light display, off the main road, as we go to Sioux Falls. The farm kind of sits down in a valley but one can see the glow of the lights from a distance. We drove by a couple years ago, and I can't imagine the time involved in setting up the displays and lining the fences with the lights. Several around our town have made the comment that there are fewer outside lights this year. We've had warmer weather to be outside but I think it's a case where a lot of the people have gone south already and the rest don't care.
"Gma," it would be wonderful if you could be pain free through the holidays until your surgery. We like to drive around and look at Christmas lights too. We usually see the first ones, on farms, coming home on Thanksgiving but not this year. I'd like to blame the lack of holiday spirit on the politicians! I have 30 numbers blocked on my phone and now am seeing new ones pop up. I try to keep the phone close by so I can check the caller ID. I'm thinking of getting the kids DQ gift cards too. I still don't have Ian's Christmas list.
My "to dos" are waiting so I'm off to get started. Hope you enjoy a special Saturday!
I just got out of the shower and I feel great. They said we should expect rain today but the sun is still shining and it is a beautiful day. They have just changed the forecast to rain at 5 am tomorrow.
I have my zero points fruits and veggies all fixed and in baggies ready to eat. We did get broccoli and cauliflower today which looks real good. So far this week I have been sticking close to program and haven’t felt a bit hungry so it is good. I sure hope my sticking close to program shows at the scale come Monday.
JEAN There seem to be fewer lights on houses this year here also in town. The country folks are the ones decorating. That roast turned out yummy and we are having sandwiches out of it for dinner this evening.
DONNA FAYE I am so sorry that you can't do anything without pain. What a bummer that must be. I remember the days when I was having back trouble and how it hurt every minute of every day.
Good Morning! Rain, rain, and more rain -- go away! Bells went well this morning; we played our usual Carol of the Bells and a new one this year Mary, Did You Know? Now we are waiting to order chicken dinners to go. I didn't make it to the grocery store yesterday, and with the rain I sure wasn't in the mood to go this morning. Today I plan to get my house in order so the generator man doesn't think we live in clutter and fur bunny piles.
Good afternoon ladies. I got up a bit later than usual so didn't get in here this morning. I was in pain and didn't much care about anything. Jack made his own breakfast even. He tried something new. I helped out a bit. We took premade eggnog, sprinkled some nutmeg in it mixed it up well and he made French toast with it. He said he liked it. It was my crazy idea. I figured milk, eggs so it should do ok for French toast batter.
I spent an hour ordering him a white dinner jacket, another tux tie and he wanted shiny tux slip ons even though he has regular black ones to wear with his tux. The man is pickier than a girl sometimes.
Jean: I love the song "Mary did you Know?" It is such a beautiful song and always makes me cry. Whoa, I am not sure I would like driving around with that much money even if it was straight to the bank. The chicken dinners sound good. We get these calls repeatedly from some sham outfit who want to sell us extended warranties on our Mariner. It is a rip off place with lots of complaints and they have offices all over because they call from different places in the country. I got tired of being nice and now the minute they start in I hang up and block the number. I have had to do this numerous times. Jack just doesn't answer a number he doesn't recognize.
Maggie: Glad you are enjoying the new plan.
Everyone have a nice rest of the weekend. Blood tests for surgery tomorrow and in the afternoon pharmacy appointment.
It has cooled off this morning but we are still supposed to be in the low 60's today. We had a short very hard rain last night but that was it.
I have to go and get my blood work and EKG done this morning for my surgery next month. Hopefully I can find a parking place that isn't in the back 40.
Kelly contacted me about Christmas Eve, but I don't know yet what she wants to do. I gave her some suggestions about gifts for her dad and I and they were all pretty much home improvement gift cards and such as we don't need anything and we can use them to start sprucing up the house. We finally got the boxes for Goodwill take over there on Saturday and Jack took a screen for the front door out to the garage and put in on the rafters. The front storm door is one long piece of glass and you can either have it that way or just a long screen and not both. Since we never open that door for air circulation and the glass door is really pretty it is what is being left in place. We aren't going to get much more done until about March with my surgery because I won't be able to lift and such, but we are on our way. I want to get some paint samples and paint some places on the entranceway to see what color we want to use for downstairs.
Jack should be up in about 15 minutes to get ready for work so I better get out of here.
Everyone have a good start to your week. Less than 2 weeks before Christmas!
Good Afternoon! The rain has finally stopped but it's cold and gloomy. The radio said we have had 2 1/2", which we didn't need. The ditches are full and the parks are full of lakes in the low spots. I have a river running in the basement where it rarely gets wet. The generator man just left and the verdict is . . . Merry Christmas to us! At least I/we won't have to worry about the pumps and furnace when the electricity goes off, assuming the main pump works as it should. We balanced on the first try at church and I was done early with my part. Gift shop counting went well and will go to the bank in the morning. I vacuumed fur bunnies and have two loads of laundry washed, dried, and put away. Bob noticed more lights have burned out on the tree and the replacement bulbs don't work. He is going to buy some whole new strings and see if he can fill in the dark spots. I'm all for a new smaller tree next year.
"Gma," Jack will look pretty spiffy in his new jacket and shoes. When is the next cruise date? I only have to take the offering money from the altar down to the church office and lock it in the fireproof file. Someone does that after every service. I've never made the bank deposit on Monday morning. Hope your appointment people were on time and all went well.
Bob is at practice and I need to think of something for supper. I'm thinking soup sounds good. Enjoy a marvelous Monday evening!
