June Juggles and Struggles for the Worldlies
Welcome to a new month for the Worldlie Chicks. Thanks Annie for the Thread Title Suggestion. I think it's a perfect fit. Summer is approaching for us on this side of the pond - always a busy time and on Shad's side of the world she is dealing with the approach of winter which makes for a chilly duck.
Let me finish the logistics of setting things up and I'll be back to comment.

Good morning all,
Happy June. Kicking the week off in high gear. Lots to do. Yoga tonight - new class. Farmer's Market starts up again today Got to stop at the Thrift Shop. We are meeting with the people who are going to work on the roof and siding tomorrow. I have things to sort out in the living room, laundry and inside cleaning I am also going to really focus on the weight loss efforts this month. I am a bit peeved that I got a call from the pharmacy - the doctor called in the eye drops that I will need for surgery and they are ready for pick up. I am not having surgery until the end of NEXT MONTH!!!! Why would I need them 2 months ahead of time. I'm sure they just call it in so they don't forget. $160 in medications. Ouch.
I think I lost my cucumbers in the garden to the light frost we had the last 2 nights. The first night I covered them and the wind kicked up and blew off the covering. Earlier they were predicting frost for only one night and I was kind of annoyed to see the temperature at 34 degrees last night as I was going to bed. I did not cover the plants. The peas should be ok but I looked up the cucumbers online and if some of the leaves are withering (they are) then the plant will be stunted and not grow well. There goes 4 plants. I also need to get out and plant the rest of the vegetables today in the other bed. Going forward we should be ok with night time temperatures.
Annie - thank you for the June thread suggestion. I like it too. How are you feeling with your cold?
Susie - happy early birthday for next week. Hope you enjoy your road trip. Sorry you had a flare up - hope it will resolve itself by the time you leave.
Hi Terra - what's on the menu for this week?
Michelle - sorry you are feeling blue. I guess it's part of the routine of so much change lately. Sometimes we think (even if it's just subconsciously) that if "X" happens, then everything will be just grand. And life has a way of saying - nope I'm a teeter tauter - one day up and one day down. I have always found a new job to be stressful as you try to settle in, do well and figure out the ropes. That is really scary about the new boss - thank goodness they caught it in time. I hope he will make a full recovery and someone will be able to get you situated.
Shad - how was the plebsville trip back? Funny way to put it. It does sound as if you are mentally gearing for retirement. I just don't have the energy to put up with the working world any more and I hope and pray that I don't have to. Mentally shut down is what I call it. I'm sure like me, you will be overly busy as you switch gears to having a life of your own again. So much travelling and change and frustration must take it's toll after a while. Wouldn't be so bad if things would fall into place shortly as I think none of us truly mind the work part. It's the corporate garbage and silly rules and inconsistencies that wear one down.
Laura - sounds like you got some really nice things on your shopping excursion this weekend. Glad you liked the Zumba class. I just can't follow that. Thanks again for mentioning the hockey game. I did watch it - Go Hawks!!! So did you like the rain shoes? Hope so - seems like you are getting a lot of rain so far so you'll get many chances to wear them.
Ceejay - did the relatives leave and now it's back to the boring work routine?
Ok ladies, time's a ticking away and I am over my limit of time on the computer here. Must get cracking. Have a great day everyone.
Not a lotta going on here. THe weekend was very low key, I think the only thing I got done was laundry and going to church. It was a good serman this week that I wish my kiddo's could of been there. About not giving up and just because HE doesn't answer prayers in YOUR timing, doesn't mean HE isn't listening or not working on the right answer for you. To trust in God and never give up hope. I believe we all know this, we just need a reminder of it now and again. That is my PSA for today.
We did have a small F1 tornado touch down in the old Irvington part of Indianapolis, approximately 5-8 miles from our house. Lots of trees pulled up, roofs taken off, power out, lines down and a couple of cars on top of each other in that area. I had taken Nyquil and gone to bed, so I didn't hear any of it and could of been blown away and never known. Perfect way to go in my opinion. No one was hurt or missing afterwards. Just a big mess really. We did get the rain and mess from it, however it did my newly planted garden much good.
Seems as tho my maid, Samantha, has been on some kind of break and I will have to clean my house myself. haha. I am just not motivated to do any house work. If Hallmark channel has something good on, then Hallmark channel it is, yikes.
Can't decide if I should keep my producer's license up to date (health & life license. I have till June 2016 to get in 20 hours of continuing ed classes, but I just don't know if I want to ever do that again. I really hated working at Humana, however if I let the license expire, I will have to take the 40 hour class and test again. ($450.00 for both). I have a year to get my hours in, so maybe I will ponder it some more. Any thoughts ladies??
I need to get my walk in yet today. May do that here in a few when it warms up a bit. I didn't wear a jacket today and it is only about 60 out, cloudy and windy, no rain but still not ideal for no jacket. Lunch was my leftover homemade spaghetti. It is always better warmed up.
That is about it for me...HAPPY...thank you for starting the new thread. You are the bestest.
Um...I mean good afternoon for most of you. Still working on getting acclimated to the website at my work but I'm getting there. Also I'm getting used to using a laptop keyboard and display as opposed to a regular keyboard and monitor. I'm wondering if using the laptop display is what has caused my severe neck pain that I've had since Thursday or Friday. I have incredible tightness on the left side of my neck that not only hurts when I lean my head to the left or right, but also hurts like h*ll when I turn my head left and right (especially to the right) which makes checking my blind spot or backing up very painful. I've done some self-massage which has helped a slight bit...and I took a muscle relaxer over the weekend which helped a very slight bit...but made me so sleepy and loopy, I had no choice but to nap. I had to skip a computer programming training class on Saturday because before I took the muscle relaxer I was in too much pain and couldn't turn my head...so driving was not an option, and after I took the muscle relaxer I was too loopy to drive.
Tomorrow, I'm getting a cortisone shot in my left shoulder done with fluoroscopy. FYI, a fluorscopy is like a moving x-ray thata shows the doctor where his/her instruments are in relation to the target area. I've got calcification in a tendon in my left shoulder which is essentially a fairly large calcium deposit nested in a tendon. Despite its name, it's not caused by taking too much calcium...good thing because since my RNY surgery I've been required to take mega doses of calcium and I also enjoy eating Greek yogurt as a regular staple of my food plan. Tendon calcification occurs most often in women or diabetics or people with low thyroid....and for the past few years, I've had the trifecta of risk factors. Thankfully, my diabetes is now under control and in remission. The only "cure" for tendon calcification is for a surgeon to cut open the tendon and scrape out the calcium deposit which has a 6+ week recovery period. I had a steroid injection back in March or April but it was done "blind" (without a fluoroscope)...with the orthopedic surgeon just making an educated guess as to where to inject the steroid. I was afraid of my insurance running out, so I didn't think I had time to wait for a fluoroscopy injection to be scheduled. I'm hoping for better results with this shot since it will be targeted to get into the right spot. My shoulder has been causing me more and more pain. I don't know if the tendon calcification is causing the neck pain on my left side, or if it's unrelated and just a coincidence.
Today, I'm starting a group training program with my trainer. It's much cheaper than the one-on-one training, but more personalized and customized than the free group exercise classes, especially since my trainer is aware of my history of back issues and my current shoulder issues. The group meets 3 times per week, and you pay for 1 month at a time...and if you miss a session there are no makeups or refunds. My weight loss has slowed down and I'm looking forward to a kick start that strength training 3x per week will get me.
======================
Happy - Thanks for starting the new thread. Have fun at yoga, the thrift shop and the farmer's market.
Laura - When is your KI trip? Sounds like a lot of fun!
Annie - When is your DD's wedding? So nice that you found a pretty dress that doesn't need alterations! My own opinion is that you should keep your producer's license current. Is there a fee for the continuing ed or just if you let your license expire? Bummer about the damage caused by the small tornado. Thanks for the reminder that prayers are answered in His time, not ours.
CHELLE....I have to pay for the continuing ed. Depending on the number of hours you are credited for a class depends on how much it will cost. Usually anywhere from 8-40 dollars. Classes depending on price can get you 2-10 credits. The higher the credited class the harder it is. I usually shoot for the 6-8 credit classes. Shorter in time, they are also on line. Sissy's wedding September 12th, good month and just a little past your birthday.
HAPPY....ok the heat is on...we are now challenging each other for a kick it into gear month for weightloss. You are on sister. I struggled over the weekend as we went to Olive Garden. Didn't eat the bread stix but C ordered a flatbread thingy for appetizer, plus the meal. OH YUM to say the least.
Howdy yall June's new title fits my life perfectly right now. I wasn't here last week because I didn't have anything 'cheerfull' to contribute to our group. Soo many blah things going on w us including a decrease w both Dh & my incomes, then Dh telling me we're going to sell our home & land this year to buy a lake front home which is completely Unaffordable for us w the sky-high waterfront prices, also drama from our diL, she belittles me whenever we speak to feel superior, etc, plus more.
Seems like the only Good thing happening is Sundae is having a puppy litter in 2 weeks. And when the wind isn't blowing pollen I've been able to garden & play outdoors.
Happy... after my mom had her eye surgery, she had the eyesight of a eagle for about 15 yrs till she needed glasses again. I love Farmers Markets too
Chelle... I hope your pain is gone soon & your procedure goes perfectly for you I know u will enjoy your new workout sessions, the perfect way to ease the blues u were feeling, w so many changes in your life the last 12 months.
Susie... Your vacation sounds fantastic, u really deserve a getaway w John & the temps will b beautiful. I've never had a spray tan, how about posting a before & after pic You'll b in my prayers for a safe trip, r u flying or driving? Will u b celebrating your birthday on your vacation trip
Doggies r barking, my appointment is here now. to everyone I didn't have time to talk to today.
Shad – Hope your flight back to Auckland went well and was pleasant in spite of no upgrade.
Michelle – I hope you enjoy your group training sessions. Wow, jogging! Good for you! I wouldn’t mind knowing I was able to jog a mile, but I don’t like jogging at all (too much stuff flopping around!) so I doubt I’ll ever pursue that goal. I’m sorry your neck is still feeling painful. I wonder if you can request a docking station for your laptop and get a regular keyboard and monitor if the laptop setup is causing the neck pain. Not great to have to ask for that your 2nd week on the job, but if that’s the issue, better to get it resolved. And I hope your boss is on the mend – good thing he got himself to the clinic when he did!! I hope the cortisone shot helps with your shoulder pain.
Terra – Hope you’re having a good Monday!
Susie – Sorry you had an IC flare over the weekend. Bet you’re looking forward to Friday for your pampering and then your vacation!! I’d be excited too!
Happy – Thanks for getting our new thread up for us. Sorry your cucumber plants were zapped by the frost. I hope everything else survived. Re the rain shoes – my feet stayed warm and dry, so I’m happy with them. Hopefully I won’t need to wear them a lot going forward into summer. But who knows – we’re getting April temps in June, so I suppose we could get April showers in June as well, hahaha. I lost 5 pounds last month, motivated by the doctor appointment on Friday. Now I need something else to motivate me for June!
Annie – Scary about the tornado not far from you. We had high winds on Saturday and there are a lot of leaves and twigs on the lawn in back now. Re the producer’s license…don’t suppose WF will foot the bill for the continuing ed… (oh, I just saw that you said you have to pay for it, bummer) Did you just hate Humana, or did you also hate the type of work you were doing? If it was both, I don’t know if I’d bother. At least you have some time to think about it. Twenty CE hours isn’t too bad, done little by little. Yeh, I was out at lunch earlier and it was the same as by you, but some sun and it still wasn’t pleasant – and I was wearing a jacket! Weird weather. Thanks for thinking of our new thread title!
Hellos to Dee and Ceejay – happy Monday to both of you!

Well, the Hawks had a great game on Saturday – glad it wasn’t another fierce battle with OT – I don’t know how those guys can do that game after game. On to the Stanley Cup!! The finals start Wednesday. Friends of bf just so happened to make vacation plans in the Tampa, FL area for this week, so they are going to try to get tickets to a game down there.
Doggy got into something in the backyard and had an upset stomach all day Saturday. He lost his breakfast, and lost his dinner (even though we only fed him a half portion). He was also salivating a lot Saturday evening, so I know he was feeling nauseous. Poor baby. Bf bought some boneless skinless chicken thighs on his way home after watching the hockey game with friends. We cooked rice and chicken for his meals yesterday, and I fed Coal more of that this morning. I think he’s feeling better – no vomiting yesterday.
I didn’t do much of anything yesterday except some more laundry and another dog walk. I’ve been lacking motivation to do much of anything lately. There’s a lot of work to be done around the house and bf and I’ll have to step it up to accomplish even a small bit of it. Just the outdoor stuff is daunting, let alone all the indoor projects. Sigh.
I’m thinking of taking an aqua aerobics class on Saturday mornings this summer and I’m also thinking of taking the pilates class, both recplex classes. Otherwise, I'll just buy another punchcard for the recplex group fitness classes.
It seems it took a while, but the cold I've apparently been fighting the past several days has now won. Feel alright, just some sneezing and nose-blowing.
I might do an ab workout tonight. Turns out the step workout I recently copied onto dvd has a good ab workout that follows the step workout. Too funny I've never done it before. All those years I never did it...I was probably just glad to finish the step workout, hahaha. but no time like the present, so I'll give it a go.
Happy
Thanks for starting the new thread. I really like the title, Annie. Those eye drops are expensive. Both my aunt and uncle have had that surgery and did extremely well. I dread mine and hope my eye doctor doesn't tell me they are ready until next year. I can't tell any difference.
Dee
Wow, lake front property and another litter of puppies!
Annie
I would keep those license. It may be a pain to get the extra hours. I asked my boss about getting my hours in after June and he told me that he was setting up a class after that.
Michelle
I'd be overwhelmed with all that's going on in your life. Hang in there.
Laura, Terra and Susie Hello.
--------
Kinda upset with the boss. He asked me to call AT&T to set up a time to come and look at one of the phone lines to the water tower. I know now why he did. I had to wait almost 20 minutes the first time then he didn't give me the information needed so I had to call back. There goes another 20 minutes.
My weekend with family went by too fast. I've decided to take some time off around my birthday and Labor Day. If I take off 4 days I'll have 11 days off If I take off three days I'll have 10 days off. May decide to take the three days off. That's a long stretch for some one to have to work. I need to use up some vacation time.
I've decided to sign up for the Medicare insurance to start in August then retire in August of 2016.
I'm feeling much better with the Lexapro but having some weird dreams that I can actually remember.
I'm going to the Community Center gym this week end. I walked a half mile last week end tired out to quickly.
Wet, raining, thunder, lightning and I have to get a car that you just about can't see through the windscreen. Today has had it all.
So I had to go buy some windscreen cleaner, and then decided to clean the drivers side in the car park of the shop. Good thing I did because shortly after the rain came down (have you ever seen it going up?) in a steady stream. I would have had a very hard drive home if I hadn't. So tomorrow I will get out there and do the other half of the windscreen. Eventually I might get around the entire car. This car is what is known as a long term rental. It's not an old car, but it has plenty of miles on the clock and the paint work isn't the greatest but they are much much cheaper than the normal rental. I'm paying for the 3 months that I will have this lease, about the same price a I would have paid for 4 weeks of the other car.
With that I am taking my very tired eyes to bed. Sorry to be brief. Back tomorrow.
Morning all. It's a nicer day today. I need to get outside at lunchtime.
Dee – You can come here to vent and whine if you need to, we’re here for ya! Sounds like you’re at odds over reduced income vs. moving to a pricey waterfront property, yikes. Hope you get that worked out. Sorry to hear the DIL is causing you grief. You sure don’t need that! Congrats re Sundae’s upcoming litter.
Ceejay – I certainly hope you don’t have cataracts or need surgery any time soon. My mom has cataracts, but they haven’t progressed enough to require surgery. I think it’s a great idea for you to take a good chunk of time off work, especially if you have vacation time you need to use. My former boss was a firm believer in long vacations and would take at least 2 solid weeks off once a year.
Shad – I haven’t seen rain go up, but I have seen snow go up instead of down. And of course here in the windy city I’ve seen both rain and snow go sideways! Sorry you have to drive in bad weather. Sounds like you got a good deal on this car – it’ll certainly be nice to have it so you can get where you want to go on the weekends.
Hello everyone.
--
I didn’t do the ab workout last night, but I did fold two loads of towels. I also cleaned off my sneakers, which were dirty from the planting project last week. I soaked the soles in an inch of water to get the dirt out of the nooks and crannies of the bottom, and used a damp sponge on the upper part. I didn’t want to have to throw them in the washing machine because I don’t think that’s good for them, and they never fit the same afterwards.
Nothing more to report. So I’ll get this posted. TTFN.
Taco Tuesday, Yeah! The highlight of my work week. haha.
First, Michael, my bros tests came back good again. Yeah HOOOO!!!! 1.9 on PSA...We get 30 more days...he does go for a MRI mid-June to see the the growth or hopefully non-growth of the cancer. Prayers please.
A little family story. My nephew, Tim, Michael's son, had a vascetomy 2 yrs ago after their 2nd child was born. My neice in-law, Tim's wife, only has one ovary. Well guess what. The V didn't take, he never went back to be checked, and low and behold they are due in December on the 25th. Now I think they should name this baby Houdini or TaDah! haha. Meant to be, I suppose.
Saturday, many of my family and my SILs friends are going to Cincinnati to celebrate my SILs retirement. She worked in the school cafeteria for 25 years. She is 63. We all live here in Indy, however we are going to Pappadeaux for dinner in Cincy. It is supposed to be a great seafood place. SUSIE... can you add your two cents here? Do you know about this place? Any good?
Tonight is leftover bbq chicken I made in crocker on Sunday. OMGoodness is it ever good. Tender, juicy and tasty. We ate it on wraps instead of bread or buns, with a little lettuce. Very good.
SHADDIE....Love all your pix you post. What a view you have from work and hotel. Lucky duck. I see tops of buildings and streets from my office. Oh Yippee!
CEEG...that's what happens when you are the boss, you get to have all your reports do the dirty work. I told my boss that Verizon (his work BB) would not talk to me since I am not the owner of his phone. I do have ways around that one, but I was not in the mood to do it. haha. Retirement in August 2016, sounds wonderful. If only. I suppose I won't get to retire till at least 62 so that will be in 2022. Don't want to wish my life away however.
LAURA...I hated Humana and the upper management, talk about unfair treatment, it was awful. Not just the underlings but also the equals. Everyone was out to stab each other in the back. Everyone knew the health insurance business is/was going down the tubes and people getting laid off, so it was a matter of survival of the (don't want to say the fittest) maybe the biggest back stabbing liar. I didn't do that, so out I went. Oh well, I love my job, people, management now, no complaints. Sorry Coal is not feeling well, hope he recovers. It is just awful when our pets are sick cause they can't talk and tell us what exactly the problem is, poor lil guy. A little better weather here today and even better tomorrow. Jackets in the morning, strip clothes off on the way home. lol.
DEE...I say if you cannot afford the waterfront homes then don't do it. I mean that is pretty cut and dry clear. Some day maybe your daughter will be humbled and treat you better. That is low self esteem when a person acts like that.
Hello to all of youse. Make it a great day/night. Hugs
Hi Annie - Great news re your brother's test results. Wow, how unexpected for your nephew and his wife! We had a Pappadeaux close to our house up til about 5 years ago and it was a good seafood place. We still have one in the Chi Metro area, but not all that convenient to us. Congrats to your SIL on her retirement! Yeh, I'm a long way from retirement too. At least you like your employer now - if you have to work, let it be in a good environment. I'm happy to say I work with good people at a good company.
Annie - So glad to hear about your brother's test results....and what a surprise for your nephew and his wife. Can you please share the recipe for BBQ chicken in the slow cooker?
