Post 7-11 Crystal Light Slurpees...

I haven't tried them myself since I don't care for Crystal Light (also, the nearest 7-11 is in what I call 'the dicey part of town' ) but I was pretty amazed at the nutritional info...since 'regular' Crystal Light only has, what, 5 calories?

Hopefully this will all line up right...but you can see the smallest size has 50 calories and 11g carbs while the largest (40 oz!) size has 170 cal and 28 grams of carbs...

You mind if I borrow this and post it on another fitness board where people are touting the glories of Crystal Light Slurpees?

Now Mindi, there you go raining on their parade...

Hmmm, oat flour?

I stopped drinking 'regular' Crystal Light 3 years ago when I decided to get healthy...

Default Rita's Italian Ice

When I found myself at a Rita's Italian ice stand last summer, I ordered a small SF cherry ice, thinking it couldn't be that bad. (I thought it would be frozen water, flavor, and a sweetener) When I got home, I looked it up on their web site and it was something like 60 calories (all carbs), like the Slurpees. There is something weird going on with these things, especially because the Rita's "small" was really small -- heaven knows what a large would be.

I'm rapidly coming to the conclusion that there is nothing safe to eat away from home unless I prepare it myself. Even "grilled chicken breasts" are injected with fat and sugar.

It is scary some of the stuff that's out there isn't it? Propylene gylcol, otherwise know as anti-freeze! Ick! Why would you put that into your body? I forget that I'm (and probaly most everyone here) is in the minority. Most people don't care what they eat.

Default Aw say it ain't so

I pass a Rita's about 4 times a day- it USED to be a staple of the family diet. I haven't had any in about 3 years and didn't even know they had a SF version, but was holding out for one sometime this summer. MMMMM, lemon or pina colada flavor.

Anti-freeze? What about Uncle Freeze? Or Mr. Freeze from the Batman movie??? (hey that was Arnold S BTW).

Did any of you see that old Simpsons episode where Bart and his buddy (forgot his name but he's the one with the glasses) had the day off from school and ordered an extra strong Slurpee from Apu at the Quik-E-Mart? For some reason that came to mind...that episode was like an LSD flashback out of one of those old 1960's hippie movies...

Now as far as alternatives, when I was a kid my Dad brought us girls a 'slush cup'. You'd put the cup in the freezer (there was liquid encapsulated inside the lining) for a few hours, then take it out, pour in your pop or Kool-Aid or whatever, then stir it with a spoon until it got 'slushified'. Mmmm....
