Unhappy Guilt when eating certain foods...

I'm not sure if any of you have ever had guilt when you eat certain foods. Today, I went to Big Boy's (a diner-type restaurant) and had an amazing Garlic mushroom Swiss burger with fries. Keep in mind, I only ate half of the burger, half of the fries, and had only water to drink. I ate about 1 pm, and I'm still full.

Usually, I eat home-cooked meals, so this may just be something I'm uncomfortable with.

I feel as though I'm guilty of eating what I ate for lunch. I don't know if it was because it was supremely delicious, or because I just shouldn't have had both foods. I've already lost 3 lb. (in 5 days) and I really am not looking forward to gaining. I've been exercising every day for an hour (different routines every day) as well, which does help me feel better about myself.

I've cut my portions in half whenever I eat, unless it's small enough to where I can consider it OK to eat the whole portion.

Have any of you ever had guilt like this? Maybe it's just because I'm still full, but I really don't know how to deal with this.

I think some of my guilt is coming from looking at the My FitnessPal app where it shows the chart of fats, proteins, carbs etc. Most of what I ate today was fat/carbs. That kind of worries me.

So, any help over here? Thanks in advance, also!

I know the feeling, but sometimes we just have to let oursevles have a little treat. Just try to eat low fat for the next few days, and maybe eat some whole grains and oatmeal as well.

Maybe next time have half the burger, and a side salad, or veggies. You'd get your treat but fill up on the salad instead of fries. That's what I often do. I went out for steak the other night, and I had a small steak but had some broth soup (111 cals only!) and veggies with my steak instead of some of the high fat side dish options.

Yup. I just ate two peanut butter cups. I feel really guilty. Even though there is no real reason why I can't eat a peanut butter cup! I've been on plan up until today, got stressed out and it was an emotional response. I think knowing that makes me feel more guilty than the actual eating of the cups.... but dang they were good!

This might sound a bit weird, but I love knowing that my body is full after only eating halves of a large portion. I'm definitely ordering a soup or salad next time instead of fries, even if I only wanted to eat half of the plate of fries.

I feel guilty when I eat things that are bad for me too, but I have to remind myself that in my situation, my family only shops for one (main) meal a day for the month. (It's all we can afford right now.) So today was spaghetti. I had some for lunch and then some again for dinner. I feel awful that that's all I had, but like I said, when you're in a situation that only allows that, you have to do what you have to do. In your case, you treated yourself. The world isn't going to come crashing down. It feels like it, believe me, I feel like that every single day, but it really isn't going to. I don't have any advice on not feeling guilty, because I haven't quite figured that out myself yet, but you're not alone and I know that we both shouldn't feel bad for little slip ups or things we just can't control.

I do feel guilty when I overeat, but I don't feel guilty about eating any particular foods if I stay within my daily caloric allowance. I say, lose the guilt! It sounds like you showed admirable restraint, given how delicious the food was.
