Default It's time to change

In a couple months I'll be 62 yrs old. For most of my life I've been average weight for my height - not too skinny & not too fat most of the time. What weight I did carry was a few extra pounds in my hips & thighs which tended to settle there even when I was very active & slender on the rest of my body.

However, 10 yrs ago I went thru a terrible marriage & nasty divorce where I lost everything including my home, retirement, beloved animals, sanity & spirit. I've spent the last 10 yrs trying to climb back out of that hole. During that time I went thru menopause, depression & quit a heavy longtime smoking habit - all of which helped pack on the pounds. I went from being an active outdoors person to being a reclusive indoor potato that spent hours at the computer.

The bottom line is that I've gained over 100 pounds during that time & I just can't stand it any longer. I want to get my normal weight back & be fit again. I realize it'll be harder at my age but certainly not impossible.

I'm determined to make this change for myself without any surgery or fad diets. I'm looking forward to the information & friends I can gain from this site to help me reach my goals.

Maggy, welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diet plans, themes, or age groups, so find one that inspires you and just post to join!

Thanks for the warm welcome Susan & Penguin. Yes, I'm reading the forums & looking over all the various groups. I'm sure I'll wind up choosing several to join. I need all the help, advice & inspiration i can get.
