Talking It's time to try again.... and stick with it!

I stumbled upon this website today and I'm thinking it's worth a try. I'm new here! My name is Brittney. I'm 23 and I'm engaged! But that's not the only reason I am ready to lose the weight! Though it is part of it, I'll be honest. I never imagined that at 23 I'd be... wow this is embarassing.... 230 pounds. It's a hard realization for me. It makes me wonder how I let it get so far but... enough of that!

I am ready and I am determined to make a change in my life! It's time for me to become responsible for myself and my body! One of my favorite excuses has always been... "I have asthma!". It is now time to forget that excuse because in the long run, I think this may be beneficial for my asthma!

So here I go! I hope to make great friends to share stories, ideas, goals, and success with!

You can do it! I let myself get to 220 at age 26. I stayed there til 28 when I started working hard to get the weight off. Good for you for making the choice now!

Welcome to the forums, Brittney. There was a time in my life that I labored under the impression that I had asthma (I was misdiagnosed for several years). I, too, used the same excuse to keep me from being more active. I applaud you for taking the initiative to be in charge of your new healthier lifestyle. I wish you the best of luck.

Thank you to everyone! Diabetic z - I am wondering if I have been misdiagnosed. I do get winded and really cold or really hot weather does seems to bother me sometimes... other than that I've only ever had 1 "Asthma attack" in..... oh it's been around 9 years since I was diagnosed.

Hey welcome to 3fc and I hope you enjoy it here. I've been trying to lose weight for a while now, but it seems like I never stick to a diet plan cause I give up so soon and give in to all those delicious foods that are mostly unhealthy. Since I joined the community I still had troubles trying to lose weight, but just this week I saw some ones motto that went something like this "Don't give up only when you give up you fail." So I have been waking up everyday starting brand new and not giving up on myself even if I mess up one day I still try to incorporate a healthy lifestyle the next day, so I just wanted you to know it's great that your starting again and this time you will be sticking to it. I will be right by your side if you ever need someone to talk to. Have fun and good luck =) and no more excuses!!

Thanks Cheerios! I'm more determined this time! But you are right about the yummy foods! This calorie counting thing is throwing me off a little - either I'm not completely satisfied or I feel like I'm eating to much with the small meals through out the day!

Just today I was going to take a "break" and not exercise but I jumped on 3FC to read some posts and they inspired me to get up - So I did!

Your welcome =) If calorie counting starts to stress you out just ask around for help and it might help if you look at the Calorie Counters forum --> http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/calorie-counters-172/
And for myself I don't count calories I find it hard to live around numbers..I tried counting calories for 3 days and gave up lol cause I cook a lot and I use many ingredients I don't have time to calculate all the calories involved in one single dish or maybe I just choose not to I'm happy you got your exercise in and feel free to take breaks (just not to many) maybe exercise every other day and have your rest day in between those days

I am having the best day! I went back to work today from a 1 week vacation and I chose to exercise before work because I wouldn't have time after. I felt great going into work today! I even noticed that my grooming pants feel a little looser around my thighs :-) Hope it isn't just my imagination! It's only been 4 days but I don't feel sluggish at all coming home after work! I also found out I won a spa day from a local bridal show I attended.. Yay!

I calorie count all day except for dinner... Dinner is a bit harder for me and I am not one to weigh my food out or anything... My mom also usually cooks dinner.... Dinner is where I just kind of eat smaller portions and eat healthy. If they have mac and cheese I dont eat it. Everyone thinks its hard to eat healthy...It really isnt, you can find a healthy recipe for honestly any craving you have...it might not taste perfect but it will definitely hit the spot for something you havent had in a long time.

I think that's been the hardest thing is finding new recipes to replace the ones we've been using but it's getting easier - you just have to know where to look :-)
