Wink Strong Minds, Strong Bodies!!

Okay, so we're getting stronger, so I figured why not name it after one of our best qualities. This journey we're all taking together means so much to me. I love when others hoin too, cause it adds to our momentum. Let's stay strong this winter, and stay the course, into Spring.

Found ya! I'm glad to be back at work today, away from the kitchen at home...let's not go there.

I visited the Humane Society yesterday, took my sister, my son and niece. My son complained the whole time about the smells. My niece and I sat in the cat house and played with all the cats. My sister pretty much stayed in the dog kennel area. There were about 12-15 of pit bulls and pit bull mixes. Almost all of them turned in by their owners. Irresponsible backyard breeders just piss me off. Why can't people just spay and neuter their pets? All they can see is making a few bucks off of these poor puppies--then they all end up at the pound when their owners can't handle them. So sad. Anyway, that was my day yesterday. Anything new and exciting happening in your parts of town?

I know Noelle. I was watching Canine Cops last night and in Detroit they automatically put Pit mixes and pits to sleep. It is so sad.

I also know about the kitchen. I am going to have to just get my chinese food and get it over with because i am eating everything in sight but I want the chinese. I just don't know when i can get it. I live 45 miles away from the restaurant. I actually...DRUMROLL PLEASE... I made P.Butter Brownies last night and exercised while they were baking. How sad is that? I think it is a new low for me.

Me and Jay were talking last night and he told me that the reason he didn't get a card is because he thought it would be lame to do that if he wasn't going to spend alot of money on me(we are very broke) I told him it isn't about the money. It is the thought that I like. So we are all better.

Joe Millionare. HA HA. I am so glad he didn't pick that bitcxh Sarah, She is so fake. Did you see her face when he dumped her? he he

What do you think they did in the woods? Mmmm, aahhh, slurp,Gulp. I wonder!!

Angie, at least you exercised! I was eating a lot of junks, candies, cake, pie...and I didn't even get my exercise in yesterday. I went to get my hair done and by the time I got back my sisters had left without me ...I know I could've walked the route backwards to find them but dinner was on the table and... well, today is a new day and this one will be better.

I know what you mean about receiving "just" a card for any special occasion. It would be soooo nice if our SO's could get a clue about that sometimes. As for me, I lucked out big time this v-day, but sometimes we gals have to plant little seeds of suggestion if we really want to get that little something or even just a card. That's the way it works for me anyway. I try to make it like it was his idea in the first place. Sneaky eh?

Ugh, Joe Millionaire. I caught maybe 1 or 2 episodes and couldn't take anymore. I don't know how anybody could go on national tv and do something like that--to me it would seem desparate--desparate to find love(?) if you can call it that, and totally desparate to for $$$ and their 15 minutes of fame. And to know that other gals are "getting to know" the same guy at the same time...you know how some girls are...loose to say the least. I could go on, but I won't. Yuck.

I watched that last night too. I knew he would pick Zora. She seemed to be the most genuine of the two. That way when he told her that he didn't have the money it really wouldn't matter to her b/c she doesn't have much herself. I think Sarah would have dumped him if had picked her and told her about the money. She seemed to be a little shallow. DId you catch the look on his face when Zora came in and was talking like she was going to turn him down and then she said that she would like to continue on.

It is weird that they have not be together since they shot the show. I am assuming that it is because they didn't want it to get out b4 the show aired. I wonder what they are going to do. I hate that we ahve to wait until next week. I am sure that is Fox's way of keeping this thing going.

Angie I am glad that you guys talked. See sometimes guys have no idea what they are doing is hurting us. Joe felt bad b/c he didn't get me a card but I got him on. I don't care about that. Did you read Gennel's story about Friday night?

I hate to tell you guys this (except Noelle because she is having this too) IT IS SO PRETTY OUTSIDE!

Hey there! Glad you guys found us. I realized just now that I didn't invtie you guys to the new thread,a nd didn't tell you guys the name. Oops. Sorry about that.

Another day of snow shoveling, this time, while it melts off the roofs, and makes it heavy to move. I woke up this morning feeling very ahcey all over. We called around and found a restaurant that was open briefly, and a limited menu, so we trudged out wiht the car, for a meal out of the house, first one in 3 days. We were starting to get on each others nerves.

At breakfast, we talkeda bout this weekend. Wer'e going to WISP, skiing. He dreads it, since last time he was all left feet, and hated every minute. He wanted me to go alone, but there's only couples going, and I"d die wihtout him wiht me. There was some tension, 'why can't we do physical activities together?" Why do we always have to dit out the fun stuff? I'm into the physical stuff now, and I wanna do outside sporty stuff... for the first itme in my life, I can actually enjoy exercise, i'm not gonna be the fat girl that just watches everyone. So, we're trying to compromise, so we'll go together, and we'll find wqys for him to have fun.. even if he sits out the skiing part. Life is about compromise, so we'll figure it out.

In other news, I"ve exercised non stop since Sunday, by shoveling 3 ft of snow, from the walk, the sidewalk, and the two driveways.. front and back. Hubby has been really helpful, but i'm doing most of hte work, since he gets painful abdonial cramps when he overdoes it. I just get achey joints, which goes away eventually. His pains tend ot start off bad, and end up being roller coasters... so i'm willing to do the brunt of the work, to eliminate chances of ER drama later.

Angie: our humane society is forver away,a nd in the woods. I usually don't go there, cause i"d come home with something cute. That's bad, cause a perosn oughtta make a decision like that after much thought, not on a whim, and because of a cute face. Those animals are life long companions, and I tend to attach quickly.

NOelle: I hate this weather, I"d kill to sit on the beach, and get a burn...

Oh Oh!!! Joe Millionare, I was actually shocked by his choice in Zora. He'd been so reluctant with her, and she didn't wanna kiss him. She didn't seem to trust him, while her intuition seemed to pick up on his secretive stuff. AND, him and sara had the slurpy kisses int he woods. I htink they had sex, that's my opinion. Oh,a nd most guys wanna date those loose women, but they end up staying long term wiht the honest and traditional type. (most guys at least)... SO, int he end it makes sense that he'd play around with Sarah, but choose the girl who has a good heart, held back physically, and knows what life without a buck is like. I say, Good Boy, followed your heart, not the other "part".

Hi! I'm new here, just introducing myself. I'm Shannon, 28 years old, happily married and mother of 2 gorgeous boys. I am an RN, work in a family birth center in Northern California. I have about 35 pounds to lose (I'm 5'7" and about 201- gulp!) and am serious about wanting to lose weight. My weakness is sweets, especially after the kids are in bed at night. It's like that's "my time" and I tend to think of food as a reward for myself at the end of the day, KWIM?

Anyway, I look forward to supporting and hopefully receiving support from all of you. Thank you, melekalikimaka, so much for directing me here.

Have a great day!
Oops, almost forgot to mention. My strategy is to maintain my calendar with the days that I exercise and eat healthy. Today I walked for 15 minutes around my neighborhood. It's only .75 miles but hey, it's a place to start, right? Maybe I'll even venture out for another short walk later this evening. The weather is gorgeous here today too.

Have a good one!

Thanks for the warm welcome, kempyd! Actually I'm considering doing weight watchers again. Had some success with it in the past. I'm also considering Somersizing (anyone have any input on that one?) as my best friend's mother is having considerable success with that plan. I'm not completely sure. Any suggestions? AS I've said, my big problems are eating after the kids are in bed and eating sweets in general.

Hi Shannon, glad you found us. I've never done WW or Somersizing though I've heard good things about both. I'm kind of doing my own thing and just walking for exercise. I've been through Nutri System (til the franchise here went bankrupt) then I landed at Jenny Craig almost 9 years ago. I lost a bunch of weight then over the years it came creeping back, especially after having a child. Well, my son's 4 now and I think it's high time I lost this "baby fat". I think we all know what to do and what works for us as far as dieting, it's just a matter of getting into the right frame of mind and just doing it. I think it's coming off for good this time around since I've found 3FC. This place is a wealth of knowledge and inspiration, and this thread has got some of the best ladies for it. We welcome new members here as more minds can only mean more information, more support. Glad you're here.

Oh yeah, as far as the sweets go, I just look for reduced fat or fat free goodies that are like what I normally eat. Some of my favorite after dinner snacks are Healthy Choice premium lowfat fudge bars, or Blue Bunny reduced fat-no sugar added ice cream or ff yogurt...Skinny Cow ice cream sandwiches...these are all legal in my book. Can you see that I like ice cream?

Welcome California Girl!!! I love your avatar, so beautiful, especially compared to our 3 ft of snow outside! I understand your veracious sweet tooth, and the evening munching is so easy to do. I try to sub things that are just as satisfying, maybe low fat popcorn, you can eat lots, and it's got lots of fiber. That's the salty stuff though. You want the sweets. I eat a banana split once a week. It's fat free yogurt or ice cream, ff hot fudge (sweeett), ff whip cream, and cherries. It's big, filling, and sweet as can be, oh and a banana!! Fruit! And it take away those nighttime leg cramps, cause they have potassium. (tidbits)

Welcome Welcome... we're a great bunch.
