Unhappy Can't stand it anymore...

I have finally gotten to the biggest I've ever been. Just 2 1/2 years ago I was 155 lbs. I've gained 30 lbs. And I gained the first 20 fast. In about 4 months. Not sure exactly what happened. But now it's like I can't stop eating...I'm always hungry. I make it through the day fine, until I get home from work around 4 and just eat and sit around until I go to bed around midnight. And my motivation has major ups and downs. One day I do great and then the next I eat everything in sight. I'm hoping this site will help keep me motivated and will push me to keep going when I just want to give up. Any and all help is very welcome!

I'm right there with you. I am a teacher and when I get home from school all I want to do is snack. I am having a hard time right now as well b/c I am home on Winter break and keep eating all the sweets that are in my house. I am thinking about throwing them all away today. Exercise is not an issue for me. The eating is. So, I feel your pain.

I'd love to throw out all the bad stuff, but with 3 teens in the house, I would never have any peace if we didn't have their favorite snacks (and mine). I just need to find the willpower to not visit the fridge every time I'm bored.

I'm a teacher too and I understand! I'm also on winter break until Jan 17th, and I get bored while my husband and friends are at work during the day.

One thing that has helped me is to track my calories and write down anything that goes in my mouth. Also, maybe you can put your kids junk food in a special area and buy yourself some new lower calorie treats.

I'd also suggest to find some other non-food activities if you can so you can enjoy your time off...we all know how we will be exhausted when it all starts up again! Some if what I have done is to see some movies, go shopping, organize the house, donate things I don't use...paint your nails, whatever makes you happy!

Good luck to you :-)

Oh, it's so sad that your teens wouldn't consider giving up, (or at least eating their junk food elsewhere). Most teens I know would do anything to see their overweight parents lose weight. It's kind of a social status thing. Sorry your kids are so unwilling to let you rid the house of the crap....because really, if your toughest time is at home when you are surrounded by snacks, the easiest most simple solution would be to get the junk out of the house. Good luck.

I think the thing is with the kids is that they don't see me as overweight. And when I'm "hungry", I'll eat anything, junk food, cereal, toast, veggies and dip, anything I can find, and too much of it. In our small community many adults are very overweight, so when my kids look at me, I'm considered small. They are trying to help by getting me to work out more...which is dancing to their Just Dance video game. It is a lot of fun, especially when I beat them about 75% of the time!

Hi bethann,

I had to post because our numbers are sooooo similar! Maybe we can be weight-loss buddies? Motivate eachother? I'm like you, I snack way too much. I'm a stay-at-home-mom so whenever the kids eat, I eat. And then some! Just this past June I can remember being 15lbs lighter. It creeps up quick, and I'm here to FIGHT IT!!!
