Yup, it took me about that many times to finally "get it" too!

Once I resigned myself to the fact it doesn't happen overnight and I found a sustainable weight loss plan perfect for ME, it was pretty much smooth sailing from there. Oh sure, I had my moments when I wanted to throw myself down on the floor and kick and scream but they were always overshadowed by the joy I felt when the scale numbers dropped as well as my clothing sizes.
Make a bunch of mini goals for yourself and reward yourself as you reach them. You have done a wonderful job so far! Keep up the great work!!
