Default Help me pick some rewards.

I have my first one picked out already. See my siggy. I'm really really excited about trying to run a marathon. And yes I do have to wait for new shoes to start running. My current ones are almost 6 years old. Ok for the elliptical and walking, but NOT for running. I tried, and OUCH! lol

I need help with my other 2 goals. And my final I suppose. I know clothes are what a lot of people choose, but I still have all the clothes that I wore before getting pregnant with my first (7 years ago) that I'll be able to wear again. Also money is pretty tight for us. I'm a stay-at-home-mom, so we have a family of 5 living on one income. I know the $150 running shoes will be worth it, and they will also be my early Christmas present.

I gave myself a gift for every 10 pounds I lost. No clothes or food and not anything expensive. It might be a pair of earrings. a bottle of perfume, candles, fresh flowers or a plant for house or garden, a dvd or cd any one of these , not all at one time ! Good luck !

Those are big milestones, so I'd choose a reward that celebrated my new body. A massage, maybe. Or a new haircut. Or a nice dinner out in a cute dress. Or going out dancing. Maybe a night with the kids at the babysitter and you and Hubby stay in for some romance?

I tend to do a total grooming overhaul when I meet a goal. Not a haircut (Hubby would never stand for that, haha). But I buy a body scrub and bubble bath and give myself a luxurious pamper. Make Hubby keep the kids.

I usually go for a present. Something both practical and a little luxurious; something I wouldn't get myself normally due to the fact that I usually need to buy other more important things. When I lose another 20 lbs I'm getting myself a new office chair. Mine's covered with cat hair (I wonder whose fault THAT is, kitty!)

i like the jewelry idea. that's how i reward myself. i usually just get the cheapy 5 dollar 3 packs of dangly earrings at walmart (they work just as well as the super expensive ones... i just can't wear them for long because my ears get all funky unless i wear real gold or silver ANYWAYS)... i changed my goal gift from silver charms for my charm bracelet every 10 pounds, to real silver earrings. they aren't super super expensive, and they add to my collection. i usually go for silver hooks and crazy dangly designs :P

my reward when i get to 100lbs lost is going to be something fantastic that i will be able to keep as the weight continues to go down. probably a nice pair of boots. i have not had boots in forever!

the reward for goal will be a bit more expensive, but hubby and i will be getting a set of professional photos done, with a couple new outfits that i will be allowed to buy in order to compare them (and sort of make up for) the fat wedding pics that were done when i was 270. i will also be getting my wedding dress back from my parents for a fun and different "before and after" comparison.

then we try for baby #1 which is the major reward for me, and the whole reason i started this journey in the first place!

some other good goals i saw were manicures or pedicures (or both!), a hair appointment for more than just a trim, a new video game if you're a gamer (i should add this to my list!) a set of movies or books (i've got my eye on a set of books that i'm dying to get), etc etc. the list goes on. i'm sure you can think of something you really want and have it be your motivation to continue! good luck!

After the first ten pounds, I think I'll treat myself to a mani/pedi, after 30 maybe a massage, and then after that new clothes!

So far I've gotten a new hair cut and color, some new clothes (these were also necessary), a pair of boots, and a pair of heels. Next goal I'm getting myself some fancy schmancy moisturizer and eye cream.

I know this isn't everyone's thing but I plan to get a tattoo once I reach 100 pounds. I've wanted it forever but decided to wait until I lost weight as it is going on my hip and I dont want it to get all stretched out!

For small goals I've gone to the spa, haircuts, and hubby and I want to get a new set of pictures done because I HATE looking at our wedding photos.

I've only got 3 rewards, and I'm about to claim my second one.

My first one was a new phone at 1 stone lost (14lbs). Disclaimer to say that I had most of the money saved for the new phone already, but knew I wanted it enough to give myself an obstacle to getting it that I could overcome.

My second reward is a new laptop for 2 stone lost. My current laptop is 3 years old, which isn't ancient, but it getting a bit slow for me. I'll be ordering my new laptop in the next week or so and my old laptop will find a good home with a family member, who doesn't yet know it.

My third reward is a new wardrobe for 3 stone lost. That takes me pretty close to my goal weight, and while I won't be going out and buying it all in one shot, I'm looking forward to having a few new pieces that fit better then what I'm currently wearing!

I have been thrift store shopping for clothes while I lose weight, but when I get to goal I plan to buy a whole new wardrobe. You've all got me thinking though, some of these smaller along the way rewards sound like a really good idea !

I plan on getting another tattoo when I reach goal as well. I'd like to get one on my side, it should do good with covering up these stretch marks too.

I plan on getting a nice piece of jewelry when I reach my final goal. A friend of mine suggested that I should choose a reward that I can keep forever and that will always remind me of my accomplishment.

I know you said you have clothes, but I would say to treat yourself to a new outfit or pair of shoes for your intermediate goals. I have been doing that out of necessity since I don't have any smaller clothes, and sometimes I gripe about spending so much time shopping, but it's fun!

I already had a pandora bracelet, so I'm buying myself a new bead for every 25 pounds. I like it because it's something I get to see and enjoy every day, and it's a daily reminder to stick with the program.

I'm giving myself less expensive rewards for smaller goals. I found an outrageous pair of high heels for $12; they became my 40 pound reward. I also got a massage at 50 pounds, but I really needed it.

How about some makeup for a reward? If you don't want to spend a ton, buy 1 thing that you wear every day, but buy a more expensive one than usual so it feels more rewarding. For example, buy that $20 lip balm or lipstick or mascara that you'd normally never buy yourself.

Or if you're training hard for that marathon, maybe a nice piece of workout wear or a good sports bra.

I also like the idea of some pampering time alone - get your hubby to take the kids to the park/playground/grandma's. Take a bath, deep condition your hair, exfoliate. Put the kids to bed early and snuggle with hubby - HIS reward for giving you some alone time.
