Good morning and Happy Labor Day!

There won't be much BBQing around here, though, since it's raining. The sun decided to come out and give us a nice day yesterday, though, so we took advantage and had our cookout then. Today's looking to be just a quiet, laid back day. I plan to go through the house with the dustcloth and vacuum, and throw a load of laundry in, so at least I'll get something productive accomplished.

Happy Labor Day!

Good Morning, Cottage.

We were supposed to have gone to the beach this weekend, but the tropical storm kept us home. Today, we are going to Bass Pro Shop. Auston will love that. If you haven't visited one, it's quite an adventure.

The Sargent Clan will get together for a cookout this afternoon, although cooking out in a monsoon might be challenging. I'm bringing deviled eggs. Yum!

The 'permanent diet' is going well. I'm down 5 pounds, two weeks was yesterday. Jeff is down 13.5. sigh.... I told him that if I reach my wedding weight (Highly unlikely), I'm buying a Camero.

Hope you all have a great day!

Good morning It's gray and rainy here too, because what we need is more rain I've got zucchini, peppers, and the rest of those peaches staring at me so I know what I will be doing today. We had a nice time at PI yesterday. No exciting birds but lovely weather and a nice day trip. Nice to know we can do it if we plan well. I also got a nice long walk in .

Cottage - My house cleaning and decluttering project starts officially tomorrow but I'm going to start tackling that from hall today. Do you have some quiet time with a good book planned too?

Hi Chel! - I've missed you around these parts. 5 lbs is a great start! Congratulations.

Well all that produce waits for no one (trust me, I had to throw some out yesterday ) so I better get moving. Happy Labor Day from your friendly union organizer

Good morning,Chickies. We are in a monsoon too but we certainly needed rain. The earth is smiling.

Cottage, I'm glad you and yours got the BBQ in yesterday. I'll be doing the Suzie Homemaker act today as well. I just realized I put laundry in the dryer last Friday and it's still there.

Chelby, it's so nice to see you floating around in here although I spot you a lot on FB. Congrats on the weightloss and early congrats for the Camero!

Cyndi, I am so over "putting food by"! I really want the dehydrator and canning stuff out of the kitchen along with the frassing fruit flies!

Had a crappy weekend with way too much accounting going on but the reports are all finished and will be outta here by FAX as soon as Natalie checks in at the Office. I never learned to use the machine and don't intend to do so now. "I have people" to quote The Donald.

Today is a "me" day before my busy week cranks up. I have stuff to do around the house but will also work in some reading and relaxing on the front porch - after I clean it up. The strong winds yesterday dumped a planter all over the carpet.

School begins tomorrow for the kidlets. One of the dogs and I will be down at the corner to wave off the schoolbus - a tradition. Some mothers are happy but some are a bit weepy.

Enjoy your Monday.

Good Morning

After all my years in Alaska, I don't miss the rain at all...and...it's rare that we get rain in the morning so I'll predict a nice sunny day without looking outside. We'll head to the pool this morning for our last 730 swim. Tomorrow we'll start back to Winter hours, 9am-10pm.

I'm back to tracking my food and am feeling super organized. They sure seem to go together quite well. I am going to experiment a bit.. breakfast smoothie, lunch, skip any afternoon snacking, eat earlier and call it good. My blood sugar is so stable now and I just mix things up a little bit from time to time.

Have a great day everyone!

Ruth - I got the fruit flies with the peaches Whatever does or doesn't get done today those peaches need to be finished. I always love the idea but not the implementation. I've dried some, pureed some with yellow squash for winter smoothie cubes and I hope to puree more for smoothies. I did a few jars with agave syrup last year but I've been using less of that this year so not sure it's worth it. Maybe a few small containers of chunks for hot cereal.
ENjoy your me day! What are you reading now? I am so excite to have time to catch-up on my reading

I'm reading "The Bishop's Man" which is excellent. It takes place in Cape Breton which is dear to my heart after Linda's and my vacation there a year ago. I'm also reading a biography about Margaret Attwood which is not so engrossing.

Good morning chickies!

Cottage - it's a holiday, don't be too productive .

Chelby - so good to "see" you on here. I think you mentioned what you were doing diet wise...it wasn't quite south beach, was it? Glad it is working so well for you! Darned those men for dropping weight so quickly...

Cyndi - sounds like you're enjoying your new "time off"...LOL...you're busier than ever!

Ruth - the doggage at the bus stop sounds like a great tradition. It's not a holiday for you today, right?

Lexiss - I won't mention to the DH your lack of rain. He's still a little bitter we didn't move to CO .

Mmmmm....that chocolate decadence was amazing, and I managed to have a small portion. ANd wasn't even tempted to eat the other stuff there (brownies, ice cream, coconut cream pie...). I have no problems being right back on track today. DH wants to go to his favorite burger restaurant today, I have my mind set on a salad or similar....

Got my greens planted yesterday!! Didn't realize they get rid of most seeds in the spring, so I was lucky to get the last bag of kale seeds. Can't wait!! Today I need to do some more cleaning, then last minute school shopping (everyone is going to think I can't afford DS new shoes...when did they fall apart?!?!), and maybe to see Harry Potter if the sitter is available.

Have a great day!

Ruth, I may have to borrow that book from you when you're done. Cape Breton has remained close to my heart, too, and I want to go back one day!

Cyndi, I absolutely plan some good reading time today, all afternoon, in fact! I'm reading The Yada Yada Prayer Group, and it's a great read! Enjoy getting the rest of your produce processed. I'm taking a break while waiting to for the rest of my tomatoes to ripen enough for another batch. Soon it will be Apple Season, and I'll be buying bushels of them for drying. I was "told" that I didn't dry enough last year, LOL.

Chelby, have fun exploring The Bass Pro Shop today! My brothers practically live there.

Debbie, enjoy your swim this morning! That sounds like such a great way to start the day. Funny, but with a pool right in my own backyard, I've never even considered swimming first thing in the morning. I should give that more thought. But it will have to wait for next year, as we're about ready to close it up for the season.

Twynn, kudos to you for limiting yourself on the torte last night! Enjoy your holiday, whatever you end up doing today!

I'm having a very lazy morning, just relaxing out here on the sunporch and savoring our 2nd pot of coffee. There's no rush to get anything done, but I'd better get moving soon, or I'll lose what little motivation is left.

Good morning.

So glad no one had invited us to a BBQ! Just another day here. But I will struggle to remember it is a Monday. (It is, right?) And then all week will not know what day it is! DS1 has classes at his college; DS2 has none. I've been nagging my oldest to get his resume done since career services starts lots of stuff for seniors this week. In a very former life I used to work in recruiting so am still at least some help with the resume critiquing. I've made him update it every semester so this won't be to bad but now is when it counts.

Linda - I should follow your example. I'm a rather lax duster.

Chelby - Hi! Kudos on the 5 pounds. Love what you wrote on your weights at left.

Cyndi - Sounds like a lovely day. Enjoy the produce.

Ruth - I have porch envy! Always wanted one. Or two. I was always the mom happy to see the kids off, much as I love them.

Debbie - I was tracking for a while after I won a fitness gadget. I should go back to that. But I hate to calculate the info for recipes.

Twynn - Good for you! DH and I saw Harry Potter on our anniversary last week.

Karen - weren't not barbequing either, although I do need to throw the chicken breast on before they're out-of-date. Enjoy the day!

Cottage - I read most (all?) of the yada yada books...they were great!

Twynn: I'm on a diet my doctor created for herself. She's lost 150 pounds! It's very similar to SB Ph1 -- more fruit, fewer beans. I figured it's close enough that you wouldn't mind me hanging out here with all you successful Chicks.

I hate fruit flies, too. If any of you have a remedy, please post it! They are awful!

I'm reading "The Lost Symbol" by Dan Brown. It's been a long time since I've read a book I have to MAKE myself put down.

The produce guy at Hannaford shared their fruit fly trick - put a small piece of onion in a container, top with plastic wrap with some small holes poked in. Apparently they can get in but not out. It does help. Someone I know was also trying a bowl of cider vinegar, not sure how that worked.

ETA - can you tell I'm procrastinating this morning?!

Howdy!

Looks like everyone is having a nice, and relaxing Labor Day! I'm in at work doing some paperwork. Tonight we are going to a MN Twins game! First game OP, and I've looked up items that are going to be okay for me to eat, I think...nuts, shrimp skewers, veggie burger no bun, or veggie dog no bun. Will someone correct me if any of those are not a good choice? I'm bringing sf Werther's Variety Pack hard candies (preportioned to 100 calories!) so I can have something sweet, and I'll get a couple cups of coffee since the temp isn't supposed to get over 70 even at midday, so I'm sure it will be 60 by then! Should be a fun time, and I'm excited that I can do it OP!
