Hello All!
This will be my first time patricipating in a forum and I've got to admit, I'm a completley lost! I've clicked on a few different threads and am really inspired and impressed with all of the great info and support that everyone is sharing. It's just what I need to help me along my journey. My biggest obstacle right now is figuring out how the forum works. If anyone has any suggestions about a few good starting places to glean info for newbies, I'd really appreciate it
Here's a little info about me and the type of help I'm hoping to find:
I'm a 38 yr old mother of a beautiful 10 yr old girl. I currently reside in Tucson, AZ and I'm halfway through nursing school. The stress is unbelieveable, but know it will be worth it. I'm 235 lbs and 5'11". I've had an issue with my weight for about 12 years, but I can't live like this any longer. I'm the poster child for inactivity and tend to be an emotional eater. My main motivation for change is my daughter. Aside from wanting to be around for a lot longer, I've come to terms with the fact that in order to raise a daughter with the utmost self-confidence and self-image possible, I need to lead by example. And I'm not doing the best job at that right now. I hear myself making comments about myself in front of her and I know that my actions don't reflect the attitude that she needs to have about herself to make it through her teen and young adult years without the handicap of self-doubt that makes all of the usual challenges of life even tougher. It's not just about weight (she's healthy and thin) it's about believing in yourself and distinguishing between the things you deserve in your life and the things that you don't.
I tried the Weight Watcher program a few years a go and liked the setup. My biggest challenge was actually getting in all of my points for the day. I got so caught up in finding things that were low in points that I wasn't making my quota for the day! I'm not much of a morning eater. I usually eat one meal around 4pm or so and throw portion control out the window. While it's a challenge to eat something in the morning, but when I do, I'm starving by lunch! I have my starting materials from WW, so I can calculate the number of points I should be eating each day and I do have a food guide, an old eating out guide and the sliding paper point calculator, so I should be able to start. In terms of getting active, I know it sound cheesy, but we've got a wii fit plus and I love it! I plan to start using it at least 4x/week.
I'm looking forward to a new healthier start and thank you all for reading this entry

If you have any ideas about good starting threads or have any advice about a few places to begin reading on the forum, I'd really appreciate it!
