Taking the plunge... buying a scale.

  • I need some encouragement.

I don't know how much I weigh. The numbers I have listed on my profile are a guesstimate

You see, about three months ago I moved to a new city where I knew very few people. A combination of not having a set routine, not having time to go to the gym with a new job, and not knowing enough people to distract myself and build a social life with caused me to gain a significant amount of weight in a very very short amount of time. I would binge every single night, because I had nothing else to do! I don't know how much I've gained - but when I moved here I bought some clothes for my new job and a month or two later they no longer fit. I'm guessing I've gained about 15 lbs

I have been wayyy to scared to weigh myself. But I know that if I want to be serious about my weight loss, I need to be able to track my progress (and my lack of progress!) with accuracy and certainty.

So. Today after work I am going to buy a scale and tomorrow morning I will weigh myself. I realllly don't want to know... but I need to know. ... right?

any suggestions on good (and cheap!) scales?
  • I would buy nothing but a Tanita. It's a little more pricey (about 50 bucks), but oh so worth it. You can step on it 3 times in a row and the most it will vary is by .02. And since that's the case - there is no reason to step on it 3 times.

And yes, you do need to know. It's your body and your health at stake here. You want the information and you want it to be accurate.
