Wink New here

Hi everyone,
I am new this site and not real sure how it all works but I am giving it a shot. I have been overweight since I was 18. In my 20's I was regularly around 220 and since I was in my early 30's I have been between 280-329. I started WW in June at 326.2lbs and lost 12lbs in 2 weeks and then my 3rd week I gained 1.8 lbs despite sticking to the plan. I have stayed on plan again this week and weigh in on Sunday but so far I am not seeing a change on the scale so I am fighting not getting discouraged. I know losing weigh will occur slowly but I was hoping for 1-2 pounds a week. At that rate it will take me 1 1/2 years to get to goal. Reading some of your stories is very inspiring. I am open to all ideas. I am a working single mom to a 3 year old so it can get pretty hard to plan out meals but I am trying. I KNOW I CAN DO THIS!

I understand the single mother gig. I have 2, my daughter is 7 and my son just turned 2. I'm not following any specific plan, but I have done WW in the past and was successful (but that was before points). Any way...my point is that it can be tough to stay on track but you will start to find ways to do it. Keep your head up and focused and let your little one help motivate you! You can do this!!! Bumps in the road and all...it's not a one time deal, it's a life time change...go for it!

Thank you everyone for your support. Sometimes I feel like the only person in the 300+ club. It feels good to know I am not alone and others have had such success.
Lillian-I love Richard! I have to find my old tapes and get moving again! So far I have just bee counting points.

Hello and WELCOME...hope to be seeing less of you....hahahaha
Get it? LESS of you.....I can be a real dork. Thats what my dd says.

I love richard too. I did his deal a meal cards years ago and lost weight.
Now I have a hard time losing because of age, menopause, insulin resistance and PCOS. So I just discovered low carbing and I love it.

All the best to you.

Hello! I'm a newbie, and a Texas gal too, so why don't we do this weight loss thing together?! I wanted to comment on one thing you mentioned...mainly because I've thought of it too...of that it will take you 1 to 1 1/2 years to lose the weight at this rate. That's true, but think of it this way...where will you be in that same time if you don't lose the weight? Still a win-win, if you ask me! Good luck Hon...we can do this!!

Thanks everyone.
I have lost weight in the past (many years ago) and it seems a lot harder this time. I am hanging in there but it is hard.
Missybee73: You are right! It is a win-win. One thing that keeps me going is knowing that at least my weight is coming down and if I don't do something, then a year or more from now it will only be worse.
mariamherrera: I have kind of been intereted in the calorie counting thing but have chosen to WW for now. Do you mind me asking how many calories a day you eat and how much weight you loose a week? I'm not even sure how many calories I should eat. I've heard 1200 isn't healthy if you weigh 300 as your body needs more but what is more?

tw- I totally relate....for as long as I can remember I was in the 280's and I went to the Dr last Monday and the scale read 326....I couldn't belive it! I had to do something. I noticed certain things were happeneing but I never thought that my weight was accountable for...lack of mobility, knee pain, foot pain (yeah I know...denial, big time)...so I decided to diet and I always find it easier when I can write down thoughts and accomplishments...and sometimes set backs....but anyway...this is what I do....One day I try to keep it below 1000 calories...the next day I keep everything before dinner below 500 calories and then I have veggies and meat for dinner...I don't measure but it makes it nice I can eat with my family...it seems to be working becuase I'm down 5 lbs in 3 days. (I also invested in a new scale..it recored your weight, has a goal setting and tells you how much you lost, gained, and how close you are to your goal..instant gratification/consequence)....good luck..can't wait to hear how you are doing!

tw326at41- sorry I didn't reply earlier! I toggle between 1300-1600 however I have been known to go as low at 1200 and as high at 1700's those two number are rare cases though.. I find if I calorie cycle my body never has a chance to plateau.. last year when I did it this way I lost 40 lbs and If stuck to my plan I lost 2-4 a week but lost about 5-6 lbs a week in the first few weeks.

I use my plate at livestrong.co m to count my calories plus I make sure and check nutritional labels but that is all I do! it's pretty simple!

Thanks mariamherrera. That gives me a general idea of what to aim for. I am still doing WW but I tracked my calories (and points) for 2 weeks just to see where I am at and I am around 1600 calories a day. I weighed in yesterday and in 6 weeks I am down 16.4 pounds. I had had 2 weeks with gains but when I look at it as a whole (6 weeks and 16.4 pounds) I am doing great. A long way to go but at least I am on the right track. YEAH!

Hey y'all (Texas girl here, now living in Louisiana):

You're definitely NOT alone. I'm sort of new here, too, and I'd be happy to make the journey with you, even if it takes a year and a half!! I spent a good portion of a 6-hour drive to visit my family yesterday in a daydream of what's coming up--I actually visualized myself thin, fit, able to wear cute clothes, able to face a camera without automatically moving other people in front of me (like that somehow disguises my size--good grief!), feeling energetic and--dare I say--sexy. Can't wait!

Nice to meet y'all, and more to come.

It is fun to daydream about what the future can be like.
I was laughing at myself earlier because as I was walking down the hall and my pants felt loose and I had the feeling "Wow, I feel skinny!" Let me tell you there is NOTHING skinny about me but I have lost 16 pounds and it is nice to feel a little difference in the way the pants fit.
