Default About time

I was encouraged to try this out with my girlfriend so that we can support one another and find some more support and advice in this community. I have always been a pretty big guy and my weight got out of hand when I was crippled my depression and several surgeries (appendix and gall bladder removed). I am relatively physically active but am much more content with laying around and reading or studying than doing any sort of organized exercise regimen.
My weight goal loss comes hand in hand with lifestyle changes. Namely eating much healthier and being more responsible about my health in general. Many of my weight issues are complicated by my depression and social anxiety (I have trouble getting out of the house) but I love competition and pushing myself. I thought I might as well introduce myself.

Welcome. Since Chicks can be overwhelming at first, I suggest you look for a support group or challenge to join; a small group of friends to help keep you motivated. Find one you like that fits your needs, or inspires you, and just post to join.

I think its very sweet that you two have each other for support!

Hi and welcome! I too have anxiety, etc. and know that it is hard sometimes not to emotionally eat. I believe that most overweight people are that way because of emotional eating. That is just my opinion though, maybe I am wrong. With the right support system it makes it a bit easier to take control. There is so much information on this site. Good Luck on your journey!
