Default Hate what I ate today

So work is CRAZY. I've been putting in 14-15 hour days, every day, and expect it to continue for months. My job is nice enough to buy our lunch and dinner. So this morning I had 2 cups of Starbucks (a cappuccino and a latte, total 160 calories) a protein plate (mini whole wheat bagel, peanut butter, grapes, and a hard boiled egg, 370 calories), chicken and veggies from a health food place (373 calories; 2 small chicken breasts in a balsamic marinade with a garden salad and asparagus salad), and 2 chicken tacos for dinner (460 calories). OH YEAH, and another venti latte and a biscotti (yes, ANOTHER ONE! for a total of 270 calories). So in total I ate 1633 calories today, and I managed to get my butt on the elliptical for 20 minutes when I got home a little after 10 pm. Not a crazy workout but at least it was movement. Overall I shouldn't consider it a terrible day, but I didn't have ANY homemade food!! The Starbucks thing was supposedly pretty natural and so was the food from the health food place. The biscotti was not great but I really wanted it!! And even the dinner wasn't terrible. 2 flour tortillas (I hate corn tortillas), chicken, tomatoes, lettuce, and cheese. And they supposedly use fresh ingredients. But I know they weren't the best choices and there had to be something bad in them, since it's all really just takeout. I'm afraid that this trend will continue as my work hours get longer and longer.

UGH, sorry for the long rant. I just need to do better tomorrow.

Can you not pack your own meals to bring with you?

I could if I had time to go to the grocery store!!! LOL My schedule just hasn't allowed me to get to a store and I don't see it happening until the weekend.

Those 14 hours days are horrible! I usually work at least 12-14 hour days every single Monday. It's hard to get my food in, water in, and never get to the exercise part. I work in a pharmacy and never have time to take a break on Mondays, so i take food that are easily cooked and finger food.

If you cannot take your lunch, are there healthier options on the menu? Maybe a few more veggies?

I don't know what type of work you do, but your schedule sounds way too grueling! Kudos to you for even having time to add up the calories!

Amen to RollTideRoll! It could have been way worse, especially at Starbucks! I know when I have long days, I definitely come home and crash on the couch. What, sweetheart? You want to make French fries for dinner? Go ahead ... So congrats on motivating yourself to exercise at the end of the day!

Maybe you could stop by a small grocery store on the way home? Wawa's and 7-11 often carry precut veggies and breads.

I agree with RollTideRoll and theresac; that did not look like horrible food choices to me. You might find it helpful to get some yogurt or an extra salad at an earlier meal if you have a place to keep it cold, so that when you start getting hungry later you have something healthy to eat.
