Angry GRIPE Of The Day

So today I am within a mile of my home, after fighting the freeway nuts for over 60 miles, when I end up stopped at a red light.

I am the second car back....the light turns green....

The jerk in front of me doesn't know that because he is texting

I beep my horn...he looks up in his mirror...hesitates then proceeds nicely...

next light...turns red on us....he starts texting again....light turns green...he still texts....

I about freakin' shove my arm through my horn honking at the jerk...

he finally proceeds going about 1-2 miles an hour with me about to go over him...

he finally turns off the road....

I was so PO

the only way I calmed down was realizing he was a punk...in a punk car...probably the best he will ever own....couldn't see his phone but I am sure it was worth more than his car....

aaarrrrgggghhhh

So, you have a gripe today?

It is now illegal to talk on a cell phone or text while driving in Ontario. A fine of up to $500 and it's waaaay worse if you are convicted of careless driving because of one.

I know this is tongue-in-cheek and all but seriously, I don't think this has anything to do with getting older. I don't have a problem with people texting in general, but I think it's ridiculous that people think they can drive and text! They can't. It is seriously starting to scare me. I've seen people completely blowing off red lights, swerving over the median line and/or into my lane, etc. If it's illegal to drive while drunk, it should be illegal to text while driving, because trust me, texting drivers look a lot like drunk drivers. It is a very dangerous practice!

Any time anyone does anything stupid that slows me down, like fails to notice a green light, that pisses me off! Honestly, last week I went to jot something down on my planner while I was at a red light and I felt so bad when I noticed the light turned green and I was holding up traffic...so I am guilty of this too in my own way, but so many people are texting now and I just see more and more of stuff like this happening.

I think it might be worse in my situation because I live in a college town, and there is just such a prevalence of young people. But our city council just passed a texting ban while driving and I think that's great news! I don't know when it takes effect exactly, but I can't wait.

I think texting while driving is one of the most dangerous habits these days. And I think it is mostly younger people. BUT...talking on a cell, I see all ages guilty of this while driving.
Poor cell phone etiquette is everywhere and it really GRIPES me to have to listen to a stupid conversation while I am trying to enjoy lunch, or shopping, or any number of other situations.
Okay people...if the conversation can't wait, please go outside or to a quiet area away from others. We don't want to hear that 'Jeffy pooped in the potty today" or that your BFF tried to steal your man.
Of course...I am OLD and only use a cell for emergencies, so this GRIPES me.

Yes, such as when you are in the bathroom. I want to say to those people in the stall next to me, SERIOUSLY? You need to talk on the phone while in the bathroom at Wal-Mart? What does the person on the other end of that conversation think when she hears toilets flushing in the background? And eww, just imagine how gross the phone is, riddled with germs.

Its illiegal to talk on a phone or text while driving in Colorado, but I still see people doing it and it drives me insane because they normally do drive horribly when messing with their phone.

I'm considered 'young' and I refuse to text to talk on my phone when I drive. I'm well aware my attention span is not great enough for that, lol.

It's illegal in my state to text while driving, but talking on the phone is ok.
My hubby called one day to tell me he was driving past a police car in which the officer was TEXTING !!! Citizen's arrest, citizen's arrest - LOL !!!

hahahahahaha!!! I just experienced that the other day at McD's. I heard this lady talking away, I wondered "There's only two stalls who is she talking to?" and that's when I figured it out.....she was on her phone. I felt embarrassed that I flushed the toilet but then I was like "Dude, I'm not the one on the phone, obviously the other person doesn't care she's in the restroom.
But then this is who I am. I've never felt comfortable when friends would follow me to the restroom (when we were out) and talk while we were doing our business. I would rather focus. LOL

Exactly. I've seen common sense elude age on many an occaision. The other night we were driving down 25 and we past 5 cars in a ROW that were texting. I saw men, women, 20 year olds, 50 year olds. If someone had to hit their breaks it would've been a disaster! Most people think they are the one person that can text and drive at the same time.

they just made it illegal to talk w/o hands free and to text here in oregon. YAAAAY! I'm so glad.

my gripe is dumb punk kids on the bus! It is not okay to talk loudly, say inappropriate things, do pull ups on the bar that you're supposed to hold when the bus is full.... not okay!!! ugh and don't get me started on their dumb little butts hanging out of their sagging pants. 1. you're in the pacific northwest and are white 2. you look ridiculous 3. i don't want to see your junk! I actually saw a kid once trying to sag his sweatpants!!! WHAT?!?!?

omg and the teenagers up here that think they are gangsters crack me up! They would die after 15 minutes at the school i went to in California...

Texting while you drive is at least as dangerous, if not more, than drunk driving. I'm very glad that it's illegal here, as is talking on the phone without a hands free device. Dangerous, dangerous, dangerous. When you're driving, you need to focus on DRIVING...not a teeny keyboard.
