Default 300+ Weekly Thread #1206

We are a group of individuals who weigh or have weighed 300+, or near there. This group was formed to provide a place for others like us to find support, inspiration, and hope. We are aware of the distinct problems that come with weighing over 300 lbs.

We want to invite everyone (roosters as well as chicks!) to join us in our journey. We share laughter and tears, heartaches and fears ... joys and celebrations. We also share what works for us and what doesn't.

We know the thread can move very quickly, and that people often make "personal" remarks and keep a number of conversations going. Please feel free to contribute even if you can't make personal comments all the time.

Finally, we also have several extra threads going on simutaneously such as Monthly Challenges, Weekly Weigh-ins, Recipes, Bios, Photos, Exercise, Info for Getting Started and more. Many of these threads are stickied at the top of the page. Please feel free to check them all out.

We have found this thread to be more than just a support group... we have found it to become a home. We invite you to join us.

I know you'll all agree that we are really thankful for the free services here at 3FC. The sisters offer all of this support and information with no charges to us. There are a couple of ways though that we can help out.

If you are thinking about buying anything at Amazon, why not help out 3FC at the same time? You can do this by clicking on the button for the Amazon "store" in the upper right hand corner of the screen on the PURPLE tool bar. A portion of your purchase price will be given to 3FC by Amazon. It doesn't increase your price at all, but it does help out 3FC. You can use any of the Amazon.com links that you see on the site in order to help contribute to the site.

Also, BTW, in case you didn't know it, you can view the message boards "ad free" for a minimal charge. I think it's $15 for 6 months. A very small investment to be rid of the annoying ads and make your pages load quicker.

There have been some concerns expressed by the powers that be about copyright infringement. So please, if you are directly quoting someone else or printing an article in whole or in part, please give credit where credit is due!!

Hey everyone...I hope everyone is well.

Zelma: I'm feeling much better now. I'm currently on the light blue pills in the pack and not feeling the nausea as I did in the beginning. I have it sometimes...it sort of lingers, but everyday things improve. TriNessa is the generic of the Ortho Tri-Cyclen and it has mixed reviews. I got on it for PMS/PMDD as well as birth control. The thing is one of my girl friends told me that using a BC pill for hormonal and BC isn't a good idea. She said her OBGYN suggested using something you rub on your skin for hormonal control and using an alternative form of BC. So, I'm not sure what to think as my OBGYN just sort of said "take these" and didn't really explain anything. Right now I feel pretty good with it though and my weight has gone up, but it is going down now. Today I weighed in at 280 and two days ago I weighed in at 285. So, I think whatever it is doing with my system it is starting to, hopefully, ease off and such. I have been dumping a lot of water the past 4 days, so I think I'm retaining because of the pill. I still feel bloated though and I have noticed slight cravings for sugar, so I'm struggling with that a bit, but it isn't as bad as when I started taking it thank god.

Cyn: I am a country girl. I know how that feeling of being "closed in" feels like when you are in a city. Perhaps you just needed some space and was feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything going on in your life. One thing you can try to help with your GERD is ginger. Have you tried that? If you get upset like you did you could sit down with a nice hot cup of ginger tea or something to help sooth you. Take a few moments for you to center yourself. I really should do that more often lol. I hope you feel better!

*****

Today I'm going to the dermatologist, not looking forward to it. I'm a bit nervous as it is some stranger looking at my flabby ew body. So, blah. Hopefully it won't be bad and I mean "hey we know you have a skin disease and there is nothing we can do" kind of bad... I just hope to get some answers, but my hopes are not very high. This is more of a confirmation of what is going on with me. Yeah I'm nervous.

Other than that I'm doing my boot camp this week. This will be a good test for me today as my tendency is to emotionally eat after something like this. I'm not doing that today. Maybe i'll emotionally buy something instead. Like a new shirt. :P

Anyhow, I hope everyone is well! I'm busy again this week, but it is a good busy.

Happy Monday Everyone,

I hope that everyone had a blessed Easter. Ours was especially nice. I heard my most favorite Easter message so far since in my life. Lovely.

Debbie: Hi sweetie. Thanks for the encouraging words. Please let me know where you live again, I mean in Washington. I was looking at the map the other day and for the life of me I couldn't remember the nearest town/city. You can pm me if you don't feel comfy letting me know here. I am seriously thinking of a trip to see you soon.

Sharon: Hi doll. How are things? I hope you are well. Have you heard from Ammi and or Beth? I haven't in a while. I know that she gets busy with her gaming but I also know that she hasn't been feeling so great. If you speak to her please tell her I said I love her and hugs. Hugs to you too.

Cyn: Congrats on your 16 years as a married couple! So sorry that you had a bad day. Hugs. The place that my parents are in love with is called Verde Valley I think. It is closer to Sedona I believe. I was trying to find it on the map.

Debi: I'm sure it is the ham that has boosted you up a bit. Hang in there and drink your water!

CArol: I am really starting to unwind. lol. Thanks for the support. I am meeting with the surgeon on Thursday. Hopefully he will think my idea is brilliant. lol.

Catherine: How did your solo go in church? I thought about you. We usually just have a praise and worship team at our church services but yesterday they had a choir too. It was beautiful and fun, fun, fun. I loved the many voices and it sounded fantastic and my mind went to you!

Rat: Hi there sweetie. It is sunny here right now. It can change on a dime seriously because I live in the panhandle and the clouds move across this land quickly. We are supposed to get rain later so, in honor of my dear friend biker chick, I am going to go pay my car payment and another local bill but... I am going to ride my bike there! Joel fixed my bike and it is about 8 miles one way to the furthest place. Instead of parking my butt on the stationary recumbant bike I decided to go ride to pay them. Save some gas, burn some cals. lol. I'll let you know how well I do later. It has been since last fall that I rode outside.lol.

Zelma: Happy late birthday!!!! Thanks for all of your encouragement. You are such a sweetie pie. I'm sure you are right, I will get to see my dad and enjoy seeing ARizona too. I have been there a few times just passing through and have never seen the Grand Canyon. I'd love to see it. Thanks for always putting a positive spin on things. Hugs.

Vicki: woo hoo to your weight loss! You are rockin it girl.

Jacque: I hope that the visit to the dr. isn't as bad as you think it will be. I feel your pain though. It is nice to go to someone you are comfortable with and that knows us. Hugs.

DC: I am so thrilled for you that small fits!!!! I am positive that soon enough small will be too big and you will be with tiny for a while. You go girl.

Shimmers: Great planning eating on a small plate. I still do that at most every meal. It helps me tons. I'm proud of you for your eating out results. You are on your way to success.

Well, I have a full week for someone so.... unemployed. lol. Today I am riding my bike as I mentioned to Rat. I am riding it to pay bills while it is sunny. I am going to vacuum my house and do my bible study along with sit ups and push ups. Tonight is a weight lifting night and I am going to go to a class on Salsa dancing. I decided yesterday to go. It is $15 for 3 classes. Joel is going to go with me. I am looking forward to it.

Tomorrow is weight loss support group for the newer people but I missed last Tuesday's group because I had to work overtime so I am thinking about going to tomorrow night's group.

Wednesday is our class on differences at church and Thursday is my meeting with the surgeon. I am going to talk to him about getting "Smart LIppo" on my arms and I am also going to talk to him about peer mentoring. It should be a good week. TOm is still here but should be gone soon.

I hope everyone has a wonderful bootie moving day.

Bernice, Toni, Becca, Ammi, Beth, Julia, Where are you guys? I hope you are all doing well and are just busy with life. Check in and say hi to us if you can.

Blessings all,
Annie

Biker Chick is cheering you on, Annie! w00h000000!

Don't be surprised if da tush is a little sore tomorrow. I usually need 3 good riding days in a row during the first part of Spring to get it back into tough shape.. hehe.

Luv,
Rat

Annie-I ended up not getting to sing at all. When I slipped on the ice, I scraped slightly my cheek, and it left a cut on the corner of my lip. It didn't heal the way I expected, so every time I opened my mouth, it re-split like a cut on a knuckle. Major bummer. What's worse, I was so rushed Sunday morning, that I forgot to put make up on. He of course didn't notice. Fortunately, being Easter, the church was filled with people that I won't see again until Christmas, so no real harm I guess.

Default Need shoe advice

Hi all,

I have been enjoying my walks lately, and even sneaking in a LITTLE jogging. The shoes I am wearing have no sole left, and my left knee has been a little angry (stiff and such) lately when not walking. So...I need new shoes. And while I am seriously cheap (which lead to DH and I looking in 10+ stores for shoes this past weekend), I was talked into getting good shoes because I am really doing it for good health. Of course, I don't know what good shoes are at my weight. I realize I will likely have to buy them from zappos because I have size 13 feet. Any ideas? I keep hearing Brooks and Asics. Do any of you have shoes you love?

Heather, I will add my exercise in at the end of the month, fear not.

That's it from me.

Angie

Angie - go to a sports medicine store where they will have you walk on a treadmill while filming to see what your "issues" are. I love my Pearl Izumis - I absolutely love them. It is the best money I have ever spent - I also bought a pair of Brooks at the same time - they aren't bad but the Pearls - need I say more.

I went to a running store to buy the shoes that fit my feet well. New balance for me! I did the treadmill test too!

I am also a cheapskate, and they weren't cheap, but worth it. These shoes fit MY feet and gait.

Jacquie - I am glad that things are better with the pill now. I am still waiting for my new one to settle down, as there is still some bleeding, which isn't exactly fun. If I find out anything that could be a natural alternative for PMS I will let you know. I figure that it can't hurt to try something else.

Annie - I really don't know my US geography, so didn't realise that they would be close to the Grand Canyon. HEY! I'LL go visit your parents!!! We didn't end up seeing the Grand Canyon while we were in Las Vegas and it is already on my list of things to do on our next trip. We woudn't have had long anyway, and I've heard it is worth staying a couple of nights to see the sunrises and sunsets over the canyon.
I hope you have a wonderful (though very busy) week. Have fun riding your bike!

Catherine - Sorry that your sore lip stopped you from singing. A few "ouch"es may not have been the best sound in the middle of the hymns though. Do you have a cream or something to help it heal? I hate having dry/cracked lips in the winter. I always seem to smile just a little too much and it opens the crack up again. That stings!

Angie - I have liked both New Balance and Asics. I have been 'tested' both times I bought these and they were both good purchases. Neither pair was cheap, but they are most definitely worth it. I liked the New Balance because they catered for wide feet, but then the Aasics seem to do that as well. Good luck with finding the right pair for you.

This is my first 'official' day of my two-week vacation. Friday to Monday was the Easter long weekend, that EVERYONE got, so this is the first day that "I" have - along with thousands of other teachers and students across the country. Neil has to work for a few mornings, then we have just over a week off together. We'll go visit my mum for a few days, but other than that we'll just potter around.

There is an SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism - "a group who enjoy reliving customs, combat and courtesy of the middle ages.") gathering on the last weekend of the holidays and I may try to get to that for one day. I've never been to anything like that, but those times fascinate me. The jousting, the clothes, caligraphy/illumination etc, all seem fantasy, but they actually happened. It is a couple of hours drive away, so we may even stay overnight somewhere near. We'll have to think on that one.

I hope you all have a lovely week.

Take care,

Zelma
